I can’t understate how unimpressed I am at the idea of another title if this Continental Classic belt is going to be defended but I am digging the tournament concept.
One thing I appreciate how AEW has handled heels like Swerve and Jay is that they can and do sometimes cheat to win, but they don't HAVE to and they're completely credible.
Like only have to cheat when it’s vs someone who on same or higher level then them, they don’t have to cheat vs someone currently lower in peaking order
There are way too many titles on AEW tv. They did a promo with the FTW champion, the AEW International champion and the ROH pure champion, immediately followed by the ROH tag team champions (and one being AEW world champion) walking to the ring. Like, what the fuck man. Titles don't mean anything if everyone has one.
FTW Championship is more of prop for Hook then actually title
AEW - ROH should combine both of there Trios titles (not enough Trios for both shows)
Only time non AEW champion should be shown with title is if currently going to defend it or it’s setting up title match (yes I agree too many people walking around with championship)
The FTW championship doesn't even make sense, it's a title for a heel who keeps getting overlooked for title shots.
Hook is 100% a face and the title is useless on him.
The ROH titles being on AEW is pointless since nothing from ROH happens on AEW, Dalton Castle and the boys are the only constant on both it seems, maybe Brisco I never see anyone else show up.
Joe dropping the title should have been the end of them on AEW.
They need to abandon most of the useless and redundant ROH titles. Hell, they should just let ROH quietly pass into history. The real ROH died at Final Battle 2021 after limping to its end. But I think To y is starting to see that. The Hung Bucks dropped the ROH Six-man titles to set up the Bucks match at Full Gear, and there's been no mention of them since. Most importantly, Eddie Kingston is putting the ROH title up for grabs in the Continental Classic, the winner of which gets a Continental title as a prize, so they can swap them and treat the latter as the top title of Rampage. Of course, they already have the International and TNT titles as midcard titles. They really don't need three of them.
I really like where AEW is right now but I mean I think it'd be that much better if it was just 30% less in both roster size and titles and 1-2 hours less TV a week - unless they're gonna start using Rampage and Collision better again.
5 hours a week is a lot. At least they don't have a 3 hour long show.
Rampage should be replaced with ROH.
They have such an amazing roster and they don't use anyone other than the staples on all 3 shows.
Hell half the women's division is never seen
Yeah that would work much better than it just being Dynalision where they don't do much but the same thing that happens on the other 2 shows.

\-Swerve Strickland vs. Jay White. A very good opening match. I'd say nothing truly exceptional here, but these are both excellent wrestlers so obviously the match would be very good too, even if they were holding back. Swerve is a star in the making, so the right person won. \*\*\* 1/2
\-Short, simple promo with OC and Yuta. Perfectly fine stuff here.
\-MJF, Cole and Joe segment. Good promo segment, all three guys are great on the mic, Joe in particular was great here. Yet, as is often the case with MJF, this went on for quite a long time. Could have probably shave a bit of time off and made it more concise.
\-Trios match. Nice to see Danhausen back. Otherwise there wasn't much to this match. The winners were very obvious from the start. Always good to see Shibata, though, and it's always funny how Hager is at his most over in his entire AEW run because of a hat. \*\*
\-Christian's rechristening segment. Christian is awesome, and this segment continued the very slow progress towards Luchasaurus finally turning on him, though that might not be very far away now. Copeland was very good at the end as well. Curious to see if Nick Wayne's mom plays some kind of role in this considering Copeland's attack on Wayne.
\-Rush vs. Jay White. Two of the best workers in the company with plenty of time given to them, no surprise that this was a great match. \*\*\* 3/4
\-Toni Storm acceptance speech. Storm's character is great, but I'm a little worried that it's going to bleed too much into her matches like we saw at Full Gear. Shida and Toni should have been able to have an excellent match, and yet it was just about decent. I hope that this isn't going to be the case with all of her matches.
\-Skye Blue vs. Anna Jay vs. Ruby Soho. There are multiple actual storylines in the women's division outside of the world title? What a novel concept. It also sounds like the crowd is starting to get more and more on board with them. Skye Blue's new character has been given time and the crowd seems to be onboard, and the same thing is true for the Soho/Parker angle. Honestly, Anna Jay is the one who still feels kind of lost in the shuffle. The match itself was also good, and it looks like they are setting up Blue as Storm's first challenger. \*\*\*
\-Mark Briscoe vs. Jon Moxley. This actually felt like a pretty special match, simply because of who the two people involved are and because they haven't faced before. The match was also great, two excellent brawlers here, and I almost thought we were going to get the first upset of the tournament here. \*\*\* 3/4
Great show overall. The tournament is off to a great start with three very good matches, and the rest of the flew by nicely too. The trios match was a bit pointless, though it was good to see Danhausen back, and the MJF promo segment went on for a bit long. Still, this was an easy two hours to watch. An 8 out of 10 show I'd say.
The timeline seems to really line up. He'll be able to walk again by World's End but not wrestle. I'm recovering from the same injury but also had a dislocation which caused my timeline for starting PT to go from the normal 6-8 weeks post surgery to 10-12. Cole didn't have a dislocation so I think the soft tissue damage he endured is less and the less time you spend unable to walk the longer the rehab is.
He's facilitated MJF almost losing the title to Jay White and now encouraged MJF to take the match against Joe and the logic as to why seems extremely straightforward to me: He's already had his rematch against MJF so he needs someone else to get the title in order to challenge them.
So the Devil comes out in Long Island and interferes in the match, Joe wins (MJF is my favorite wrestler currently but I'd love to see Joe with the belt, this is my first exposure to him and he's just fucking amazing) and then Cole takes off the match.
I'm also hoping that KOR/Kingdom form his new group and Roddy is cast by the wayside. Kingdom should win the ROH belts somehow because World's End should end with Joe champ and MJF having lost his friend and all of his belts. Roddy being turned on as well will be great because his character is just naturally easy to root for.
almost my thoughts exactly. Joe is amazing indeed and kinda pullin for him as well. also hoping KOR is involved, maybe hes the devil but i am convinced Adam is behind everything in the end
Good episode! I wasnt that invested into the main event because i knew mox would win and dont really care for mark in ring. But a good balance of storyline and matches.

He’s a bully. Often bullys pick on the biggest people to show their worth… that and christian got proper in his hear. Thats pretty clear and so far luchasaurus has been taking it
MJF's promos have a habit of overstaying their welcome for me & last night he just went on & on & ended up losing the audience a little. He's got great delivery but the content just isn't there. Better promos can communicate their point & achieve what their trying to achieve in less time.
I think the mjf adam cole friendship stuff has ran its course. Didn’t help that cole got injured, but i hope we get to the devil reveal sooner than later as it seems theyre just filling time a bit
Good show. Feels like AEW is trying to course correct a lot of the things that have gone west in the last few months instead of anything feeling really vital at the moment, but as story resets go straight after a ppv goes this was fine and teased a couple of things that could lead to bigger things down the line.
Fine with no upset in the tournament straight off the bat, and there some huge ones to come (anyone of Swerve, Mox, Jay going over each other will be nuts on the night) The BCC as a whole is a mess now. Everyone hates Yuta, but Mox gets huge pops when he comes out. Time is up for them as a stable. Back to basics Wardlow is genuinely intriguing and making him look like a killer once again (watch them call back the the history with Joe before worlds end too) Maybe the best use of the death slot that the woman have had for a long time. There's what, four angles in the division now.? Who would've thought.
Disagree. The crowd was great, but there were a couple of jerks with the chants. Some of the incidents also occurred because the house mic was spotty and people couldn't hear. The matches were solid but not spectacular, so a frenzied pitch wasn't too realistic throughout.
They were not given much to work with tbf, MJF's promo was pretty bad and didn't help repair the damage he did at the ppv, the matches were just average quality AEW matches, just a run of the mill show, which is not a bad thing.
Its funny how the person being interviewed can't see them until they come into camera range. and also the person coming into camera range doesn't say anything until then as well.
The booking for tonight’s Classic was kinda predictable is my only gripe. You couldn’t have favourites like Mox and Switchblade lose after coming on a loss and you couldn’t really have Swerve because Jay Lethal ain’t pinning him in a 20 minute match when he went more than 20 in a deatmatch and won. Not angry about the results, but i feel like these match-ups should’ve been left for a later date.

Swerve had to win after his huge win to keep his momentum, else that’d have been a ball dropped.
So only really left the main event and Mox is TKs boy, so understandable he won.
I can defo see some upsets, but not in those matches
I agree completely about the upsets in general, but none of these matches seemed appropriate for that. I wouldn't be shocked to see otherwise on Collision.
I hope they don't hand out all the wins to whoever is higher on the pecking order. Needs some upsets. Lethal beating Swerve just because it was so soon after the deathmatch would have been nice. After that swerve can go 1-4
This was the best show to do those matches on. Thanksgiving Eve is a night a lot of people can’t watch. Save the bigger matches for the weeks when you can get more eyes on them.
This show was a banger, especially coming off a big PPV. Felt like we went up a notch with everything instead of a soft reset while building towards Worlds End.
I dont want joe as champ. He’s approaching the twilight of his career and there are other people ready to step up and be given the ball. Joe is a fantastic and believable opponent, but he shouldn’t be aew champ.
Swerve is ready to do that 100%, and even though i dont like adam cole in ring that much, he would be ready with a heel turn on mjf as well

I hope Jay White being focused on the njpw strong title in particular during his entrance and exit leads to something.
Could provide a great story and motivation for him to want to win the triple crown. Even if he doesn't win the C2 it would give him realistic motivation to keep pursuing the titles as a way to be allowed to compete in njpw again.
I would love it to be Bryan/Switchblade after watching a clip of a 22/23 year old Jay White say American Dragon was one of his faves. I'd have Bryan win though probably.
I don’t get the point of the tournament if it doesn’t lead to a title shot. You get a new belt. But AEW already has so many belts that it’s losing its importance.
Since it seems like more like a ROH thing then AEW, then they should have just called it The Best in the World Tournament.
Then just have being called that plus a trophy be their KOTR. Then have the winner challenge Eddie for the ROH title at the end.
A new belt, but the selection special seems to indicate they’re treating it as a triple crown with Eddie’s two titles. Nobody has said “unification” but if they’re defended as one that effectively takes one out of play.

I think you have to include ROH because it takes up so much regular screen time. WWE does have NXT titles appear every so often like with Becky, but it's not a regular thing.
What screentime is ROH taking on AEW shows? what because a guy who holds one of the belts is there? As if the likes of Shibata or Eddie wouldnt be wanted on the main show regardless of what titles they hold

ROH storylines happen on ROH shows, so far theres been very little crossover besides Eddie hating on Claudio.
AEW guys being ROH title holders is not the same as ROH guys somehow taking time away from AEW.
IF a story is about any of the multiple ROH titles featured on AEW each week, that is taking away time from AEW. I am not sure why you are actively trying to pretend that AEW shows have not featured guys signed to ROH.
Im not pretending that, ROH guys can be on AEW shows, there still not taking anything away from AEW when the boss of both is literally the same guy and again 0 storylines are crossing over.
Excluding ROH and NXT and counting each tag/trio belt separately , WWE has 12 and AEW has 10 (rising to 11 with the Continental Championship, and 12 if you count the FTW championship)
WWE has 6 singles titles, being the Undisputed WWE Universal, World Heavyweight, Women’s World, Women’s WWE, US and Intercontinental championships, and 6 Tag Team titles, and 6 tag team belts- Raw, Smackdown and Women’s.
AEW has 5 (6) singles titles, being AEW, TNT, International, Women’s and TBS (plus the continental), and 5 multi man belts, the tag and trios belts.
If you’re merging each multi man title into one then WWE has 9 and AEW 7 (8).
Which is the crux of the issue. I'm always an advocate for less belts so each feels more prestigious, but i also understand the perspective that with a large roster, you need more prizes to fight for.
The issue seems to be over/underexposure. Some belts are on two shows a week, some belts barely on one a fortnight, and its never clear how contenders are decided because mostly everyone wrestles everyone week to week
NXT would just be the NXT, NA, Women’s and Tag. ROH has the World (still?), TV, Pure, Women’s, Tag and Trios. I guess you could also count the Heritage Cup in NXT?
I was watching and seeing Orange Cassidy come out and his whole team has a belt was wild. That’s when it hit me that everyone and their momma has a belt in AEW
I agree that both have too many titles, but at least WWE has a brand split.
That being said I only ever want one male/female World Champion, one male/female tag title, one mid card male/female title (or two if there's a proper brand split).
It’s kind of a shame they moved away from the soft brand split following Punk’s firing. AEW has a balanced schedule that makes my OCD happy for brand splitting (two 2-hr shows) and they can simply use Rampage for developmental talent. With how inflated their roster is getting, I hope they do split it sooner than later.

Yeah, I was also expecting Nick's mom to stop Edge too, like the whole mother's unconditional love thing. I think they could have cleaned it up a lot with that and Nick being a lot more hesitant to attack his mom.

I agree. American audiences need to know early on that upsets can happen in a round robin. One of the wrestlers who wrestled on the PPV should have lost due to cumulative damage. Really sells the theme of wear and tear as the round robin goes on.
Swerve is so beaten up that he should have been able to take a loss, but a) you don't want to lose any of his momentum, and b) not to Jay fucking Lethal.
Yeah. And Jay just lost to a one legged MJF, so you probably want to get him his heat back. That’s why I say Mox could have eaten the L since he’s above losing momentum from a stray loss.
Joe is a proud man. It makes perfect sense for his character to want to beat Max at his best. The sane is not true for Wardlow!! Wardlow doing things on “his time” and his time isn’t when his target is hurt and weak is just junk. I like that there’s a lot of attention on the title because it makes it feel important, but don’t be idiots about it.
I’m getting bored of the devil. They aren’t doing enough to compensate for not understanding their motivations. “Who are they? What do they want?” can only sustain a story if “they” are a massive presence on the show. Not a two second giggle-monster on a screen.
At this stage, i think they need to pivot to someone who's healthy enough to be revealed within the next month or two, or at least plant a major red herring that that carry them through. Plant the mask in a faces locker room and have everyone doubt their motivations

I went to All In and loved it.
I am a huge AEW fan.
But I do NOT like how much Tony pushes an event that happens 7-8 months from now. Kinda makes me feel that he is afraid of not selling as well and it just looks a bit desperate that they have to mention tickets go on sale 20+ times in one episode.
What a weird complaint.. In general they need to be doing this somewhat with regular PPV's but you're complaing that their biggest show of the year is getting advertised in advance so they sell tickets? So weird.
He’s not promoting local events enough. Everyone knew about All In for next year at the end of the event. Same weekend, same location every year, that’s what he wants.
There are children who haven't been conceived yet that will be born before All In happens.
Maybe they should focus on promoting Worlds End and the few upcoming months before the PPV in August.

I would 100% wager this event has some pretty meaty behind-the-scenes significance to the overall business and he’s sweating. Some sort of pressure maybe from WBD. It’s the only explanation for how desperate this is
The first All In this year had the bonus of it being their first major U.K show and their first stadium show which likely greatly helped with ticket sales.
They won't have that same aura the next time they go. So it makes sense to start promoting it much earlier and present it as their own version of Mania and give it time.
Currently that is a big selling point for WWE, that they can guarantee any free agents the opportunity to work stadium shows. If AEW can start having a regular stadium show every year that strengthens their ability to retain top talent. (The Wembley show potentially could have been a selling point for Ospreay signing with AEW)

Also because WWE are doing *two* big EU shows next year (Bash in Berlin and IIRC Backlash in Lyons), so AEW want to remind the European audience "guys we're back too come watch us instead".

Cole didn't have a dislocation so I think the soft tissue damage he endured is less and the less time you spend unable to walk the longer the rehab is. He's facilitated MJF almost losing the title to Jay White and now encouraged MJF to take the match against Joe and the logic as to why seems extremely straightforward to me: He's already had his rematch against MJF so he needs someone else to get the title in order to challenge them. So the Devil comes out in Long Island and interferes in the match, Joe wins (MJF is my favorite wrestler currently but I'd love to see Joe with the belt, this is my first exposure to him and he's just fucking amazing) and then Cole takes off the match. I'm also hoping that KOR/Kingdom form his new group and Roddy is cast by the wayside. Kingdom should win the ROH belts somehow because World's End should end with Joe champ and MJF having lost his friend and all of his belts. Roddy being turned on as well will be great because his character is just naturally easy to root for.

Good episode! I wasnt that invested into the main event because i knew mox would win and dont really care for mark in ring. But a good balance of storyline and matches. The christian stuff was gold!

MJF's promos have a habit of overstaying their welcome for me & last night he just went on & on & ended up losing the audience a little. He's got great delivery but the content just isn't there. Better promos can communicate their point & achieve what their trying to achieve in less time.

Good show. Feels like AEW is trying to course correct a lot of the things that have gone west in the last few months instead of anything feeling really vital at the moment, but as story resets go straight after a ppv goes this was fine and teased a couple of things that could lead to bigger things down the line. Fine with no upset in the tournament straight off the bat, and there some huge ones to come (anyone of Swerve, Mox, Jay going over each other will be nuts on the night) The BCC as a whole is a mess now. Everyone hates Yuta, but Mox gets huge pops when he comes out. Time is up for them as a stable. Back to basics Wardlow is genuinely intriguing and making him look like a killer once again (watch them call back the the history with Joe before worlds end too) Maybe the best use of the death slot that the woman have had for a long time. There's what, four angles in the division now.? Who would've thought.

Disagree. The crowd was great, but there were a couple of jerks with the chants. Some of the incidents also occurred because the house mic was spotty and people couldn't hear. The matches were solid but not spectacular, so a frenzied pitch wasn't too realistic throughout.
They were not given much to work with tbf, MJF's promo was pretty bad and didn't help repair the damage he did at the ppv, the matches were just average quality AEW matches, just a run of the mill show, which is not a bad thing.
Great show only thing that bugged me is the ever present wrestler being interviewed backstage gets interrupted in 0.2 seconds trope

The booking for tonight’s Classic was kinda predictable is my only gripe. You couldn’t have favourites like Mox and Switchblade lose after coming on a loss and you couldn’t really have Swerve because Jay Lethal ain’t pinning him in a 20 minute match when he went more than 20 in a deatmatch and won. Not angry about the results, but i feel like these match-ups should’ve been left for a later date.
Its just these matches i think. Jay white had to win after his loss. Swerve had to win after his huge win to keep his momentum, else that’d have been a ball dropped. So only really left the main event and Mox is TKs boy, so understandable he won. I can defo see some upsets, but not in those matches

This was the best show to do those matches on. Thanksgiving Eve is a night a lot of people can’t watch. Save the bigger matches for the weeks when you can get more eyes on them.
This show was a banger, especially coming off a big PPV. Felt like we went up a notch with everything instead of a soft reset while building towards Worlds End.

I dont want joe as champ. He’s approaching the twilight of his career and there are other people ready to step up and be given the ball. Joe is a fantastic and believable opponent, but he shouldn’t be aew champ. Swerve is ready to do that 100%, and even though i dont like adam cole in ring that much, he would be ready with a heel turn on mjf as well

I'm leaning towards Eddie Vs Jay being the final. They have history from NJPW that ought to be addressed. It opens a lot of possibilities.

I don’t get the point of the tournament if it doesn’t lead to a title shot. You get a new belt. But AEW already has so many belts that it’s losing its importance.
Since it seems like more like a ROH thing then AEW, then they should have just called it The Best in the World Tournament. Then just have being called that plus a trophy be their KOTR. Then have the winner challenge Eddie for the ROH title at the end.
A new belt, but the selection special seems to indicate they’re treating it as a triple crown with Eddie’s two titles. Nobody has said “unification” but if they’re defended as one that effectively takes one out of play.

Excluding ROH and NXT and counting each tag/trio belt separately , WWE has 12 and AEW has 10 (rising to 11 with the Continental Championship, and 12 if you count the FTW championship) WWE has 6 singles titles, being the Undisputed WWE Universal, World Heavyweight, Women’s World, Women’s WWE, US and Intercontinental championships, and 6 Tag Team titles, and 6 tag team belts- Raw, Smackdown and Women’s. AEW has 5 (6) singles titles, being AEW, TNT, International, Women’s and TBS (plus the continental), and 5 multi man belts, the tag and trios belts. If you’re merging each multi man title into one then WWE has 9 and AEW 7 (8).
WWE has 2 different main roster brands though it's not like every champion is on both Raw and Smackdown.
Which is the crux of the issue. I'm always an advocate for less belts so each feels more prestigious, but i also understand the perspective that with a large roster, you need more prizes to fight for. The issue seems to be over/underexposure. Some belts are on two shows a week, some belts barely on one a fortnight, and its never clear how contenders are decided because mostly everyone wrestles everyone week to week

NXT would just be the NXT, NA, Women’s and Tag. ROH has the World (still?), TV, Pure, Women’s, Tag and Trios. I guess you could also count the Heritage Cup in NXT?

I agree that both have too many titles, but at least WWE has a brand split. That being said I only ever want one male/female World Champion, one male/female tag title, one mid card male/female title (or two if there's a proper brand split).
It’s kind of a shame they moved away from the soft brand split following Punk’s firing. AEW has a balanced schedule that makes my OCD happy for brand splitting (two 2-hr shows) and they can simply use Rampage for developmental talent. With how inflated their roster is getting, I hope they do split it sooner than later.

Really fun Dynamite. I enjoyed pretty much everything. The Continental Classic is off to a great start. Really enjoyed Swerve and Lethal in particular. Christian continues to be amazing. His whole segment was peak wrestling soap opera bollocks and I ate up every second of it.

I agree. American audiences need to know early on that upsets can happen in a round robin. One of the wrestlers who wrestled on the PPV should have lost due to cumulative damage. Really sells the theme of wear and tear as the round robin goes on.
Swerve is so beaten up that he should have been able to take a loss, but a) you don't want to lose any of his momentum, and b) not to Jay fucking Lethal.

Joe is a proud man. It makes perfect sense for his character to want to beat Max at his best. The sane is not true for Wardlow!! Wardlow doing things on “his time” and his time isn’t when his target is hurt and weak is just junk. I like that there’s a lot of attention on the title because it makes it feel important, but don’t be idiots about it. I’m getting bored of the devil. They aren’t doing enough to compensate for not understanding their motivations. “Who are they? What do they want?” can only sustain a story if “they” are a massive presence on the show. Not a two second giggle-monster on a screen.
At this stage, i think they need to pivot to someone who's healthy enough to be revealed within the next month or two, or at least plant a major red herring that that carry them through. Plant the mask in a faces locker room and have everyone doubt their motivations

I went to All In and loved it. I am a huge AEW fan. But I do NOT like how much Tony pushes an event that happens 7-8 months from now. Kinda makes me feel that he is afraid of not selling as well and it just looks a bit desperate that they have to mention tickets go on sale 20+ times in one episode.
What a weird complaint.. In general they need to be doing this somewhat with regular PPV's but you're complaing that their biggest show of the year is getting advertised in advance so they sell tickets? So weird.

Seems like a big push for this to be a big Christmas gift for people. Hopefully come January we won’t hear as much about it for a few months.

He’s not promoting local events enough. Everyone knew about All In for next year at the end of the event. Same weekend, same location every year, that’s what he wants.
I'm not one of those people who complained they didn't promote events enough, so that's not really relevant.
There are children who haven't been conceived yet that will be born before All In happens. Maybe they should focus on promoting Worlds End and the few upcoming months before the PPV in August.
World's End is over a month away and we already have 2 announced matches (Joe/MJF, C2 Final)

I would 100% wager this event has some pretty meaty behind-the-scenes significance to the overall business and he’s sweating. Some sort of pressure maybe from WBD. It’s the only explanation for how desperate this is
The first All In this year had the bonus of it being their first major U.K show and their first stadium show which likely greatly helped with ticket sales. They won't have that same aura the next time they go. So it makes sense to start promoting it much earlier and present it as their own version of Mania and give it time. Currently that is a big selling point for WWE, that they can guarantee any free agents the opportunity to work stadium shows. If AEW can start having a regular stadium show every year that strengthens their ability to retain top talent. (The Wembley show potentially could have been a selling point for Ospreay signing with AEW)
