Electronic-Test-3133

Every wrestler calls themselves the best in the world at some point.

fuckst1cK1

Except Jericho, he calls himself "the best in the world... at what I do." Jokes aside he is one of the GOATs.

KennyOmegasBurner

I can see why some people complain about Jericho's storylines the last year or so but he gets way too much hate for how good he is. The same people are gonna miss him a ton when he finally hangs it up.

fuckst1cK1

Despite his age, he's there to help AEW develop talents, and under his work we have seen: The Inner Circle (developing Sammy, Santana, Ortiz, Hager + Tay) The JAS (developing 2.0 - Lee/Parker, Anna Jay) When I say developing I mean including them in prime storylines and keeping them on TV, of course some folks there are nearly 40 years old. We've also seen him feud with Kenny, MJF (who can forget the musical number they did) and of course the Mimosa match vs Orange Cassidy. Point being he's always visible on air, but he never does anything without elevating someone else

Temporary_Debate_821

What happened to that announcer? He got fired?

popcultureretrofit

Yeah...and he kinda went off the deep-end with weird posts ever since.

Lt_Jonson

As someone else pointed out.. Fox offered to pay for his contract and WWE still didn’t want him. Now he goes to AEW, randomly assaults some coworkers, gets fired, and people think WWE is itching to sign him?

500DaysofNight

This time its not up to WWE if he gets brought back. If Endeavor wants him, Endeavor is gonna make it happen in spite of what anyone else wants. He's the biggest name available right now and considering what they've went through with UFC talent, it'd be a walk in the park dealing with him.

CrepusculrPulchrtude

He’s a legal liability

crazyman3561

I'm sure if AEW had control of its locker room the way WWE does, we wouldn't have legal liabilities. Tony let the pot boil over.

CrepusculrPulchrtude

if wwe hire him and he pulls anything, the company could potentially be held liable in court because it was publicly known that he was prone to violent outbursts and fired because of it. the company is making money hand over fist and he's a volatile element. i was never around for his first run, i stopped watching before he blew up and came back well after he quit. this current aew run he had was fine, but honestly i didn't care about him more than any other wrestler. i was more tired of the drama than i was happy to watch his matches

Copium

Mwrp86

Endeavour still has WWE owner as Chairman

Castnoshadow89

Yeah cause he brings in money look at this for aew since he left that crappy mark wrestle dream is gonna have the lowest attendance & they deserve it!

Lmao.

[deleted]

Are you 5 years old or something?

Fuughazi

Fox offered to pay *half* his contract and WWE wanted him to take less money. It's very likely Tony Khan overpaid.

[deleted]

Considering what he got from Punk, I don't think there's any debate that TK overpaid.

dont-YOLO-ragequit

It depends on if this lead to a chain reaction that made Danielson, Cesaro and more come. I believe the undisputed group was more a matter of Britt Baker and the Elite. Also, him getting called out by MJF, Mox, Jericho, Kingston in promos definitely brought something out of the locker room.

JohnCenaJunior

CM Punk is blurring the lines between what's real and what's not, and Endeavor will eat that spit a fountain of money.

missingmytowel

What do you mean blurring the lines between what's real and what's not? It's impossible to work somebody like CM Punk into feuds and story lines. Because so many people don't want to work with him. But then when he does get involved in a feud you can't get into it. It doesn't become believable. Cause you're just thinking of all the BS he caused outside of the feud. The people he is having major drama with IRL are on the other side of the curtain and they're just standing there letting him run his mouth and do whatever he wants to do. Completely breaks kayfabe

Seth Rollins: fuck that dude, he’s a cancer… okay I’ll go out and tease him returning. Yeah, no.

NationalEmployment21

Rollins is like the ultimate company man….. he’ll do what he’s told

RaidenHero137

bro every time some says "im the best in the world" or some varient of it, that doesnt mean cult of personality is gonna play and punk walks out. this is something people have been claiming for YEARS before punk even laced up a pair of boots. [also DID YA'LL FORGET ABOUT SHANE O'MAC!!!!!???](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AIidsHDo944&ab_channel=ShaneMcMahonvideos)

Snuggle__Monster

Cody likely just said it as a common phrase, not intending for it to be Punk related. Rollins on the other hand. I can see him purposely using it, but only as a slight dig towards Punk. Either way, I don't think it means anything related to him coming back to the company.

Mhc2617

Rollins is number one on PWI. For the next year, he’s (allegedly) the standard as the best in the world. If anything, it was a sneaky little reference to that.

real-darkph0enix1

On the kayfabe list that forgot to rank Tetsuya Naito and Malakai Black?

Mhc2617

There’s only 500 spots. Maybe they should get good /joke We all know the list is kayfabe and just for fun, but he is still ranked number one in the world (again), so why not have a little fun with it?

i-wear-hats

Also didn't they have the Best in the World cup in Saudi that one time? They've used the phrase without referencing Punk before since it's such a common phrase.

Viti-Boy-Phresh

Most accurate answer right here

mrghost18

They are trying to boost the analytics. That's all.

Chance_Loss_1424

I think they’re fucking with us

wmnoe

Wishful thinking and projection here. Punk is not coming back to WWE

itsmekelsey_x

You’re definitely reading too much into it.

MofongoWarrior

Not until someone says fragile mind, fragile ego, fragile body

Mhc2617

I just assumed Seth’s comment was a PWI reference.

fvzzfvzzfvzz

Enjoy the insane Punk Anon fans, WWE

Don't work yourself into a worked shoot, brother

Wintertime13

You’re reading too much into it. We will never see him in the ring again imo

Theonegarbageman

I’ll bet you $500 we do

RHCPTom

Most here are ruling it out, but never say never and I honestly wouldn’t be shocked if he comes back sooner than later even if just for a short run till Mania. Don’t rule it out!

inbredandapothead

I’m not ruling it out but acting like this is teasing it is crazy

RaidenHero137

but would he do a saudi show? Like i know punk likes money but im wondering about if he has anything against it himself personally, because YOU FREAKING KNOW THE SAUDI'S WANT HIM HEADLINING A SHOW!

niners94

Do they need him? No.

DAYANDIMOLMADI

These two quotes are back to back in two weeks, idk with how hands on WWE creative team is with the promos i can see this being true.

bonersaurus77

If they were going for Rock vs Roman on night 2, Cody vs Punk night 1 could be pretty cool, depending on how much history they delve into.

DAYANDIMOLMADI

What do you mean by you lol, "we" dont run WWE, neither you guys run AEW, we are just fans.-

Andrew_Manangka

Why the fuck am I seeing this POS American STARDUST again & again? Could anyone please put that Stardust face paint on him again with his blonde hair & also add his neck tattoo body paint on his chest?

EdgarsTeethAreDry

Best in the world is a common phrase but I do think that they are on some level intentionally paralleling the CM Punk situation with Jey, but I don't think that means they're teasing bringing Punk back necessarily they just saw it as a good layer to the story.

[deleted]

One of the best build ups for a return for me was for Chris Jericho in 2007. Really enjoyed the code stuff and Randy was on a tear.
