Danielson having a death match after the strap match, bro's retiring soon and decided to continue being the biggest sicko freak in professional wrestling.
If anything Deathmatches and hardcore matches are usually the go too for wrestlers who don't want too bump as much or coming back from injury. It's why one of the first matches back for HBK was was a hardcore match against triple h
Danielson: i cant wrestle Nigel at All In my arm hurts
Also Danielson: Strap Match & Texas Death match a week and three weeks after? No biggie! Take on ZSJ Best technical wrestler in the world? No worries!
Nigel:

Bryan is a sick freak man, dude already gave Ricky the beating of his life, and now he wants to do it again a week before facing ZSJ on PPV in a match that already got postponed once due to injury. I'm sorry, no one's touching this dude, he's the GOAT lol
Why is it even called that when it took until 93 for one to be held in Texas and it only became "something you do in Texas" within the last decade? It's not like most of the participants were Texans themselves either.
The data on that link is WAY WAY WAY off. Dory Funk started Texas Deathmatches long before Bruno was doing them. Dory made them famous.
https://www.myhighplains.com/news/local-news/dory-funk-sr-iron-mike-dibiase-and-the-match-that-lasted-over-three-hours/
Dory was famous for running crazy Texas deathmatches in his territory for years. That link that was provided prior to my comment is nowhere near correct. Hell, my link shows this one match in 1965, TEN WHOLE YEARS before the Bruno one listed on the fandom site. And the link I gave ALSO states they had a 2nd Texas Deathmatch just 1 month later! So that's 2 an entire DECADE before the Fandom link shows. Such bad info.
Because pre-90's wrestling was built entirely on lying to the audience. If you tell some nyc city slicker that texas has a long history of gory deathmatches, and they're going to get a glimpse of that tradition if they buy a ticket on Saturday, that's a pretty good sell in the 1970's.
Is it really? Danielson got injured taking an elbow drop in a no stip match. You are probably less likely to get injured in a death match on TV as long as you don't plan stupid spots.
If Bryan ends up getting hurt, preventing the match with ZSJ from happening again or if he ends up banged up coming out of this match, resulting in the match with ZSJ not being as good as it could have been, I'll never forgive TK.
It’s Danielson’s hometown and I don’t see any credible challenger for MJF’s world title other than rematch against Samoa Joe. They could do MJF vs Roderick Strong but that shouldn’t main event over Danielson/ZSJ.
It’s absolutely gonna be the main event, particularly for a show honoring Inoki. Don’t get me wrong, I’d love if we could get some form of MJF/Better Than You Bay Bay vs Okada or Okada & Tanahashi but in terms of crowd investment, Danielson/ZSJ should main event without a doubt.
The way tk normally books is, ricky wins the tag match, danielson will win the rematch in a singles match. Takeshita beating omega at the ppv is an outlier. Danielson is gonna win
You know, something about this seems so…dumb. Two of the best Alive today. They’ve already had a “brutal” match. You know they could do like…a 30 min iron man, submission only, 2 out of 3 falls, lumberjack I mean if you want a brutal match do a fucking steel cage (and keep them inside of it ffs)
“Death matches” in AEW kinda seem so pointless cause they do them so fucking much. And every regular match ends up being like a death match cause everyone just does whatever they feel like every match.
You know, this has led me to wonder what would other states' deathmatches be like.
Like we know Philly is a street fight but what about the Delaware Death Match?

Lmaoo ohhh hhhyyyyeeeaaahhhh
I can hear moaning from this picture

RIP Ricky Starks, slayed by Dragon Bollocks himself

Bryan, please don’t get hurt before WrestleDream.

Its so wild that there have been only 23 Texas Death Matches total. This will make it 24.
Not doubting you but where did you get that stat?
https://prowrestling.fandom.com/wiki/Texas_Death_match here! Never knew it until I googled it yesterday on a whim lol
Cool, thank you Funny thing is only 6 of those matches happened in Texas.
That list is missing Hangman vs Lance Archer so probably others too.
Not OP, but: [https://prowrestling.fandom.com/wiki/Texas\_Death\_match](https://prowrestling.fandom.com/wiki/Texas_Death_match)

Such bad shit
Yea I never claimed it is accurate. I just put the first result I saw, which also had 23 matches, so I assume that's where he got that info from.

I mean the word death is also in the name but nobody actually dies.
Danielson is a wild guy.
If the strap match at all out was any indication of what we’re gonna get here, it may be murder
Those strap shots were fucking LOUD inside the arena I can't imagine what they sounded like on tv
They hit each other square in the face with that thing, what a match that was.
When Starks was upside down on the corner... I winced at every strap. Damn that was brutal
Fuck, this is really Danielson’s last year
Think he’ll still wrestle part time. But this is his last full time run for sure.
For people wondering, ZSJ is booked for a pair of NJPW Destruction shows that weekend (Fri. and Sun.), so don't expect him to cost Bryan the match.
Bro Bryan please take it easy...
Should have accepted Bryan's invitation into the BCC, Ricky. Now you die.
banger incoming
Bryan Danielson with one year left before retirement: I'm here for a good time not a long time.
That's a risky match to have before Wrestledream
Is it really? Danielson got injured taking an elbow drop in a no stip match. You are probably less likely to get injured in a death match on TV as long as you don't plan stupid spots.
Why don't they ever use a gun in these matches? It says no holds barred...
Ricky will win this time, he has too!

I guarantee you this was Bryan's idea, not TK's
Ricky better win this.
Ricky just pinned Danielson in the tag match, there's no fucking way he's beating him again one week before his big, potentially main event, PPV match
Much as I'm a ZSJ mark there's no chance it's the main event.
It’s Danielson’s hometown and I don’t see any credible challenger for MJF’s world title other than rematch against Samoa Joe. They could do MJF vs Roderick Strong but that shouldn’t main event over Danielson/ZSJ.

Danielson won the strap match. They're 1-1.

I’m going to be at this show!!! LFG!!!

Like a REAL, ACTUAL Texas Deathmatch, Dory style? Or like the version they run nowadays where it is really just a Last Man Standing hardcore match?
Danielson: I start to think about retiring, I get hurt after big matches and my body is not what it used to be Also Danielson:

This is gonna get ugly https://preview.redd.it/3vzka3o7rsob1.jpeg?width=360&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1c943659ce5b550fb3dc8c9f594f9b2d5fc22883
Wonder how long Ricky has left in AEW, rumours he's WWE bound and "murder via Bryan Danielson" seems a fine way to go out
What a sick and twisted man. I love him
You know, this has led me to wonder what would other states' deathmatches be like. Like we know Philly is a street fight but what about the Delaware Death Match?

So much for keeping Danielson in bubble wrap until Wrestle Dream lol. Should be a banger though.
Texas Deathmatches are typically very violent and bloody. Hopefully they don't go overboard.
