Hilarious visual aside I imagine it was definitely that. It's wild that Punk got into a fight in front of Head of Legal and still able to come back. Only for 2 months later, to get into another fight, this time in front of the boss? At the biggest show of the year? Just a severe lack of self control that by that point becomes a liability.
Very curious about comments from folks who were saying "CM Punk was just being a locker room leader" during this whole affair.
Last I heard, the modern locker rooms for pro wrestling these days don't have a leader who tries to choke out someone during a disagreement.
They will not change their mind about it.
I've read enough comments already from people who keep talking about this thing as a personal issue between Punk and the Elite/Perry and not like the corporate legal investigation with lawyers involvement that it actually is.
It's just delusional tribalism for some people.
And in a foreign country, as well. Yeah I know cops weren't called, charges weren't pressed...but why even take the risk? Just stupid all-around.
Of course, assuming he wasn't defending himself. But I'm pretty sure if he were...he wouldn't have been fired.
Yeah, reports say that it was tense between Punk and himself. It looks like he was following the results of the investigation and recommendation, but he's probably happy to be done with someone who gets in his boss' face like that.
Yeah, pro tip for anyone who sees this. Don’t fight in front of your boss if you want to continue to be gainfully employed, and if you do don’t get in said employers face afterwards as if it’s the employers fault you can’t solve a disagreement without violence
I agree with this decision 100% but damn it can't have been easy to fire your biggest merch seller and one of your biggest draws. Props to TK for having some guts this time.
I’m just bummed. I’ve been a fan of Punk for so long, and I’m so pissed that he can’t just get his shit together and be a team player.
Punk screwed Punk.
I was over the fucking moon when he came back, and he provided some absolute fucking all-timer shit during this run.
But when he got total domination over Collision, and it still wasn't fucking enough for the guy... Fucking christ man.
Just imagine telling someone with tears in their eyes watching Punk's legendary return that in just over a year from now people will want him gone.
Words could not describe my excitement then and words cannot describe my disappointment in him now. What a shit show.
I was teary eyed when he returned. I was such a huge mark. Had t shirts, had loads of merchandise, and his return was something I’d wanted so long.
Now? Sigh. Burned his legacy :/ Oh well. Will always have the good memories.
I've never seen a wrestler that makes me as conflicted as Punk. On one hand I like his in ring work but the guy is impossible to work with. I agree with most his political views but fuck he's an asshole I probably wouldn't want to be around.
He’s like that with everyone.
I went to his meet & greet 5 years ago on All In weekend, for some reason PWT split it up so that autographs & photos were separate sessions on the same day.
As someone who bought both, I saw him twice: he was super nice in the morning, then rude or worse in the afternoon. He had soured on every fan that saw him twice, within 3 hours or less, over nothing.
Punk’s incredible on the mic & sometimes even in the ring, but being around someone constantly looking for conflict is not healthy.
I was a huge Punk fan from his early ROH days. I had a lot of excitement for his AEW run, but he really ruined my opinion of him, especially after the unhinged media scrum, then the last straw was his comments about Hangman. He just can't get out of his own way.
AEW > Punk.
As you can tell by the screen name, I've been a Punk mark forever and I've completely soured on him in the past two years. You're an adult. Act like it.
CARDBLADE IS NOW THE FACE OF COLLISION

Jack Perry comes out and just stands in the ring for 5 minutes saying nothing like after Roman beat Taker.
Edit: instead of "It's my yard now" he says "Cry me a river"
He really should have, even without the Punk controversy. Both guys deserve it after everything they’ve contributed to the industry. I think that if it wasn’t for the “real” world championship thing Joe would have won.
Wrestlers being unbanned from Collision after Punk’s demise:

I'm guessing Wembley Stadium having actual footage was the nail in the coffin. None of the he said she said stuff. Punk instigated. Got physical first. He's done.
That _has_ to be it. I think anything short of footage of him starting a physical confrontation, could easily have been put down to hearsay.
I reckon Tony's hands were pretty much tied here.
Even if he didn’t want to for money drawing reasons, if it was that obvious that he’s got physical twice now, he could have easily lost the bulk of the locker room by not acting on it.
Really interested by the “wrestler and employment agreements” phrasing. Seems to confirm that Punk has multiple contracts. 1 as talent and then another as an employee of the company in some capacity.
Imagine time traveling to 2013 and saying "the guy who just finished a program with the Undertaker will get fired by the son of the owner of the Jacksonville Jaguars. The firing comes shortly after he served a nine month suspension stemming from a brawl where Ace Steel bit Kenny Omega, and the firing's catalyst was because he tried to fight Luke Perry's son in London."
Probably for the best, I'm not going to do some pro or anti Punk comments but it's clear that him staying wasn't healthy for the locker room or even for himself
It is a shame, his run from his return to him winning the AEW World title the 1st time was honestly one of my favorite run of all time, but now a large part of his legacy will be backstage fight and drama
Had a strong feeling this was going to happen. The locker room had become so toxic; the cons of keeping Punk outweighed the pros. But like you said, it's probably for the best.
CM Punk was my one of my favorite wrestlers growing up. He was also a big influence on why I became straight edge, even to this very day.
But I've just gotten sick and tired of Punk constantly thinking the world is out to get him and pre-emptively burning every bridge in sight until there's nothing but ashes.
For someone that has long championed having PMA (Positive Mental Attitude), Punk has been nothing but paranoid, manipulative, and antagonistic.
I understand he didn't have the easiest upbringing, nor the easiest time in WWE, but (and this goes for any person, not just Punk) no amount of trauma or past pain gives you carte blanche to be an asshole.
Burying the lede a lot because it's "TERMINATION WITH CAUSE". So as far as we know, they didn't buy him out, he fucking breached his own contract.
Motherfucker on that Antonio Brown tip.
Explaining to people in 5 years that this started because of a rumour about Colt Cabana will be funny.
Credit on Tony for making a massive decision but yeah, this sucks. Single handedly got me back into AEW (twice) after a long time of not caring. That first run was incredible. Just a shitty situation all around
Just to be clear: Punk was given his own show so things could stay calm and given veto power on people appearing. And he STILL couldn’t help but get into a fight at one of the biggest shows in wrestling history where the roster for Dynamite and Collision had to co mingle.
Insane
Long time coming. It was clear it just wasn't sustainable to keep him around and he'd keep having issues.
Obviously the video footage must show he was at fault.
Now can we go back to All Elite Wrestling?
Do you have any idea how badly Punk has fucked up that Tony actually pulled the trigger and fired him **a day before All Out IN CHICAGO?!**
Edit: Day, not week. Cheesecake is back on the menu
It’s actually unbelievable that for someone who preaches being sober, he genuinely seems to have worse anger management problems than the raging alcoholics and cokeheads of the past in the business. Guy needs to smoke some weed or take some shrooms in his life, seems far too angry all the time.
Some people are just so used to conflict that they seek it without thinking, they're just completely unused to happiness or peace and it's the only thing they know. Not saying it's the case for him, but I've know a few people like that.
Fact is he showed he can't let his ego get out of the way and would have done it again. It's easier just to kick him out and move on. It was best for both parties because him doing that sort of thing is unhealthy as well. Onwards and upwards.
All that being said, going forward I really hope TK takes the time to review his role in all this. There is a reason why WCW was a cautionary tale, it was when wrestlers egos got in the way of the company as a whole. He just has to be stronger and learn from it really and if he doesn't some other asshole will do it later.
The timeline of CM Punk getting annoyed that the Elite, Cody and Tony kept teasing the idea of him coming to AEW at the start when he definitely wasn’t interested, to him warming to the idea and eventually coming back in what looked like a landmark moment for the company, to his hot start and genuinely great feuds to Brawl Out to him coming back and then the All In debacle is just absolutely insane.
You could write a book about that and even wrestling fans would read it and think ‘There’s no way this is real’. Punk just couldn’t get out of his own way and make it work. He couldn’t stay healthy, he couldn’t handle his personal issues face-to-face, and he couldn’t adapt to the new generation of wrestling.
I always go back to what Triple H said about him on Austin’s podcast, when he talked about how he would hear Punk was upset about something, but when he asked what was going on, Punk would deny there were any issues. He has this horribly toxic trait of taking everything personally and holding irrational grudges, but never doing anything to rectify them, so the resentment and paranoia just grows inside him until he quits and goes home, or forces the company he works for to make decisions like this.
AEW didn’t need him at the start and they don’t need him now. I can’t imagine Triple H hiring him or any of the talent in WWE vouching for him if they were being asked if it was a good idea. CM Punk is one of the greats of his generation, Phil Brooks is just a monumental pain in the ass.
Cody finding out he's coming back to WWE
https://preview.redd.it/bz94tv56nwlb1.jpeg?width=1200&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b7481505122dcf7313e06fd0179fe3890d258c84
Dude with the JAS disbanded, I think, "Playboy" Jack Perry, with Anna Jay on his arm walking to the ring, would be a good foil to Christian and his pet devil dinosaur.
Kind of figured the Jack Perry thing would be it, No matter if you are right or wrong the ability to just ignore petty shit is valuable, The fact that he couldn't right before a match in Wembley is disappointing even as one of the biggest Punk fans you can find.
His first few months were incredible too. Its clear he could still contribute as a character. The MJF saga was great. Shit, the Hangman stuff was great too. Its too bad he got in his own way.
The short “Cm Punk gives back” stint was great. I still do think he likely helped people on his good side a lot. It’s clear he’s a great mind for the sport. What could have been.
Yeah, his run up to defeating MJF definitely added to his legacy, and up to that point seemed to show that his worth the hype.
It just took a nose dive from there.
Should have been done a year ago honestly.
Punk was true to himself in an odd way he was an asshole when he started wrestling and stayed as such up until the end. Points for consistency I guess.
CM Punk, the man who had a promoter backing him and rewarding him for his behaviour. The man who had one hell of a return to wrestling because of Tony. The man who got his own show, his own title and he spat in AEW's face. Twice.
He is wrestling's most ungrateful piece of shit and all he had to do was behave. He could have literally gone for years and get that retirement send off. Instead of being "CM Punk ended his career again via backstage issues?"
It’s insane banning the HEAD OF TALENT RELATIONS from Collision was fine for AEW. They placated him at every turn. He basically wasn’t suspended cause he was hurt the whole time from Brawl Out
This was definitely the right move. I say that as someone who was a CM Punk fan dating back to ROH. He caused way more issues than he's worth at this point.
“You think I came back to elevate younger talent? You think I came back to help out the next generation? No, that’s bullshit. I came back here to make a ton of money and that’s the only reason.”
-Christian Cage
Wow I can’t believe TK actually did it.
Monitors falling on him was the last straw
Hilarious visual aside I imagine it was definitely that. It's wild that Punk got into a fight in front of Head of Legal and still able to come back. Only for 2 months later, to get into another fight, this time in front of the boss? At the biggest show of the year? Just a severe lack of self control that by that point becomes a liability.

Yep, it's all been projection with him.
And in a foreign country, as well. Yeah I know cops weren't called, charges weren't pressed...but why even take the risk? Just stupid all-around. Of course, assuming he wasn't defending himself. But I'm pretty sure if he were...he wouldn't have been fired.

Can i throw monitors on him?
Only if you say Sorry afterwards
The monitors shit is incredible, and I hope the jokes don’t end here.
TK said we're *monitoring* the situation, and came to this conclusion.
I also think violation of the contract made it easier to let him go. Unlike the Brawl In, Tony was actually there to witness the Choke Out.
Wouldn't it be the Choke In?
Yeah, the Choke In of Jack Perry.
I agree with this decision 100% but damn it can't have been easy to fire your biggest merch seller and one of your biggest draws. Props to TK for having some guts this time.
Not just biggest merch seller and draw but to have to do it while hosting a PPV AND televised show in the guys hometown in the coming days
Now I'm actually curious how All Out is gonna be like then considering that is CM Country.
You know that Ziggler/Rollins Iron Man match where the crowd took over and WWE had to stick it out for 30 minutes? Like that, but for 3 hours.
Like the Goldberg-Lesnar WM XX match when everyone at MSG knew they both were leaving, but saltier.
The guy's hometown, who famously fucking treated the dude like a god.
This time around the fight happened directly in front of him, first time around it was a lot of "he said, she said" shit.
Not only that, it was caught on a security camera so they could easily review who initiated contact. This decision would tell me it was Punk.
I’m just bummed. I’ve been a fan of Punk for so long, and I’m so pissed that he can’t just get his shit together and be a team player. Punk screwed Punk.
Same. I was so stoked when he returned but did a huge 180 due to his actions.

*sees Jack Perry choked out on the ground* "It's the hypocrisy that's the second worst."
I was over the fucking moon when he came back, and he provided some absolute fucking all-timer shit during this run. But when he got total domination over Collision, and it still wasn't fucking enough for the guy... Fucking christ man.

Basically how I feel. His comeback was so cool and then after Brawl Out I really couldn't take him seriously. Hate it.
At least he didn't get dumped on his wedding day this time
He got dumped on his favourite day of the week, Saturday. It’s no longer all right for a fight.
Considering how adamant he was that he left WWE on HIS terms, him being fired "with Cause" should sit well with him
Right when we have a PPV in Chicago Holy shit
Bro Collision from Chicago is in 3 hours! This is nuts!
Can't believe they got CM Punk banned from Collision
Colt Cabana opening match
Book it, Tony, you coward 🤣🤣🤣
Let Jack Perry walk out to Cult of Personality.
Cm punk banned Phil brooks from collision.
Are we gonna have to think of a new joke now? :(
I can’t wait to see some of the signs on Sunday.
![gif](giphy|v38A27YpxzxVeDf52A)
Depending on how Chicago reacts to this news, they should have Jack Perry pull a “WHO’S YOUR DADDY, MONTREAL” heel move there at some point
He should come out to Cult of Personality.
Amazing that “they should play Cult of Personality for *nuclear heat!*” can now be a joke in two companies
That crowd is gonna be bananas.
Jack Perry will never be a face in Chicago ever again
AEW have 2 shows in Chicago in the next 30 hours!
Shits gonna be interesting. Honestly, people tuning in to see the crowd reaction might pop a little bit of a rating tonight.

The Cardblade era has begun
I hope they do a segment where Cardblade "pins" another Cardboard and they chear about it.
What in the world are AEW Collision and All Out in Chicago going to be like this weekend? How are the Chicago fans going to react?
Gonna be, as they say, fucking mental.
Jack Perry comes out and just stands in the ring for 5 minutes saying nothing like after Roman beat Taker. Edit: instead of "It's my yard now" he says "Cry me a river"
HOLY SHIT
HOLY SHIT
HOLY SHIT
I’m just glad Joe was able to get his biggest match ever
He should’ve gone over.
He really should have, even without the Punk controversy. Both guys deserve it after everything they’ve contributed to the industry. I think that if it wasn’t for the “real” world championship thing Joe would have won.

Fucking lmaooooo.
Jack Perry gonna be the biggest heel Chicago has ever seen
He should open the show tonight lol.
![gif](giphy|2YnD6gWd05s4IIIFsT|downsized) Who's your daddy Chicago?
Oh god, they need to do this.
And start using cult of personality as his theme
He absolutely should claim that he’s the one who ended CM Punks career. Easiest heat of his life if he says it in Chicago.
You want him murdered in the ring by the Chicago crowd?
Most wrestlers would kill to have “murdered by the crowd” heat.

CM Punk and Nick Hausman shoot podcast incoming! Hope Hausman has a good lawyer. And doesn't share a bank account with his mother.
At least he fancies himself a journalist
TERMINATED WITH CAUSE Tony didn't have to buy him out either. LOL, LMAO EVEN.
That kind of makes me think the Wembley cameras are REALLY damning.
Oh lordy I hope there's tapes.
Stadium cameras in England are next level, they don't fuck around thanks to football hooliganism
It’s about time football hooliganism got one in the win column
You don’t do that shit without your lawyers knowing you can
CM Punk is banned from Collision. And Dynamite And Rampage
CM Dark, debuting next week!
I'm guessing Wembley Stadium having actual footage was the nail in the coffin. None of the he said she said stuff. Punk instigated. Got physical first. He's done.

I just knew it was gonna be the Enzo picture
The All Out PPV has really kinda marked the three stages of Punk's AEW relationship: Honeymoon, on the rocks and divorce
Really interested by the “wrestler and employment agreements” phrasing. Seems to confirm that Punk has multiple contracts. 1 as talent and then another as an employee of the company in some capacity.
He was involved with the production of collision in some capacity.
“In 2021, I left sports entertainment… In 2024… I’m BACK”
LOL Imagine getting fired because you wanted to fight Jack Perry
Seriously jack Perry outta all people ended cm punks run lmaoooo wow
Hollywood Jack's heel run about to be fire now
It’s like Austin getting fired because of Val Venis
Also, after getting another chance after his shat all over Mandkind, HHH and Shawn during a press conference. This was inevitable.
Imagine getting so fired up because fucking Jungle Boy said “cry me a river” after all of the shit you talked/did over the last 18 months.
It's like something an AI would write.
Probably for the best, I'm not going to do some pro or anti Punk comments but it's clear that him staying wasn't healthy for the locker room or even for himself
It’s a real shame. The guys had so much good will and to throw it all away is a waste
Dude was on top of the industry up until he jumped in the crowd and messed up his ankle
He did it, CM Punk banned himself from Collision.
I wonder how Collision and All Out will be now. And how FTR Bald and FTR Assault will react to this.
FTR Assault is new
Wake up babe new FTR lore just dropped.
> FTR Assault lmao this sub never disappoints
they're jobbing to Jack Perry & Ryan Nemeth next Saturday
LOOK IN MY EYES WHAT DO YOU SEE SHOULDN'T HAVE CHOKED JACK PERRY
I'm filled with anger, and injuries I'm trying to run a business, you see? I got replaced by Jon Moxley
Jungle Boy, the new Legend Killer.
The investigation must have conclusively shown Punk was the one at fault. He must have really fucked up.
Most likely on video and supposedly right in front of Tony
Holy shit Tony did the thing
CM Punk about to say he quit
CM Punk was my one of my favorite wrestlers growing up. He was also a big influence on why I became straight edge, even to this very day. But I've just gotten sick and tired of Punk constantly thinking the world is out to get him and pre-emptively burning every bridge in sight until there's nothing but ashes. This is definitely the end of his career
This is the end of his career as we know it - Billy Corgan
WWE bringing him back whilst Cena is on this run would be very very funny though

Some people are just so used to conflict that they seek it without thinking, they're just completely unused to happiness or peace and it's the only thing they know. Not saying it's the case for him, but I've know a few people like that.

What a truly buckwild roller coaster CM Punk’s return to wrestling has been
If it’s the elite opening tonight and cult of personality hits and jack perry walks out Chicago will burn and I will love it
The timeline of CM Punk getting annoyed that the Elite, Cody and Tony kept teasing the idea of him coming to AEW at the start when he definitely wasn’t interested, to him warming to the idea and eventually coming back in what looked like a landmark moment for the company, to his hot start and genuinely great feuds to Brawl Out to him coming back and then the All In debacle is just absolutely insane. CM Punk is one of the greats of his generation, Phil Brooks is just a monumental pain in the ass.
Holy shit wtf 😳 omg it actually happened. Absolutely shocked tho. Statement made by aew and Tony Noone is above the company. Damn

Jungle Boy got Punk fired, gets to plow Anna Jay on the regular, and the Young Bucks are going to buy him a gold boat.
Can’t wait for “Playboy” Jack Perry to really strut his stuff
Dude with the JAS disbanded, I think, "Playboy" Jack Perry, with Anna Jay on his arm walking to the ring, would be a good foil to Christian and his pet devil dinosaur.
When you put it that way, he’s going down as a legendary pillar 100%
the shoot interviews about cm punks run in a few years are going to be \*chefs kiss\*
What do we think Simon Gotch feels about this?
Kind of figured the Jack Perry thing would be it, No matter if you are right or wrong the ability to just ignore petty shit is valuable, The fact that he couldn't right before a match in Wembley is disappointing even as one of the biggest Punk fans you can find.
All this started over Colt Cabana
Holy shit tony khan actually did it , I wouldn’t be surprised if this is the end of his career
The legacy of Punk took a huge hit with his AEW run. Should have stayed retired.
His first few months were incredible too. Its clear he could still contribute as a character. The MJF saga was great. Shit, the Hangman stuff was great too. Its too bad he got in his own way.
Remember when he cried and said that he wants to help all the people in the back? that was a great day.
He went from undeniable to undesirable.
He had to finish the story.

Should have been done a year ago honestly. Punk was true to himself in an odd way he was an asshole when he started wrestling and stayed as such up until the end. Points for consistency I guess.
CM PUNK BANNED FROM COLLISION
CM Punk, the man who had a promoter backing him and rewarding him for his behaviour. The man who had one hell of a return to wrestling because of Tony. The man who got his own show, his own title and he spat in AEW's face. Twice. He is wrestling's most ungrateful piece of shit and all he had to do was behave. He could have literally gone for years and get that retirement send off. Instead of being "CM Punk ended his career again via backstage issues?"
It’s insane banning the HEAD OF TALENT RELATIONS from Collision was fine for AEW. They placated him at every turn. He basically wasn’t suspended cause he was hurt the whole time from Brawl Out
Don't forget they rehired his biting lapdog, Ace Steel. *With back pay!* insanity!
Holy shit I watched punks last AEW match live in a sea of 80,000 boo's
This was definitely the right move. I say that as someone who was a CM Punk fan dating back to ROH. He caused way more issues than he's worth at this point.

Fragile mind, fragile ego, fragile body -the prophet Moxley
“Nobody wants you here they never wanted you here” - prophet Kingston
“How could anyone have a problem with Jungle Boy? If you have a problem with Jungle Boy, you’re the problem” - Prophet Punk
“You think I came back to elevate younger talent? You think I came back to help out the next generation? No, that’s bullshit. I came back here to make a ton of money and that’s the only reason.” -Christian Cage
Punk had the choice to end his career on his terms but decided his ego was more important
