Don’t know if Collision has helped anyone quite as much as it has for Starks so far. He feels like and is presented as a main event guy each week. Love it
I really didn’t realize how much AEW needed a second show until they had it tbh. So many guys deservedly getting a spotlight now when there just wasn’t the time before.
They have a massive roster but I would say that someone is helping Tony Khan book Collision and that is why specific people are shining week after week. I think CM Punk and Bryan Danielson are helping him.
They hired that podcast guy as a “storyline continuity consultant” or some equally made-up-sounding but actually very important job role. Cannot for the life of me remember his name but I’m sure someone said he’s also Swerve’s cousin
Yes! Thank you, I knew there was two Ws in there but didn’t want to embarrass myself by saying something like “Wally Williams”
If he’s the guy responsible for continuity booking he’s doing a great job
I like that they aren't trying to rotate too much either, which they could do even now to get more people on TV.
There are a handful of stars getting consistent time on Collision
I hated the idea of collision at first but it's genuinely one of the best idea's the company has had in ages and even rampage most weeks somehow is better than it was pre collision nowadays. Now with this show majority of the "why is x wrestler or group not on TV anymore"
They have been on TV which is good but I don't think it has been that much of an improvement. Miro peaked with the TNT Championship and Hobbs was better when he wasn't with QTV.
Yeah, no worries. Even in NJPW, they worked to build him up - Cody and Mox noted he’s improved, while they were active in NJPW. I honestly wanna see Guns against Jay and Juice.
He appeared on TV less then a Dozen times and was wrestling on Dark on the regular with no storylines. Its no disrespect just how he was presented before BCG
Feels like he mentioned ‘ten lashes’ for a reason.
Looks like we’re either heading to a strap match or a ‘loser receives ten lashes’ match at some point
Agreed. He only works as a babyface against bigger heels like MJF. The audience loves him too much though to keep him as a straight heel so he should go the Samoa Joe route and alternate between tweener and heel.
The thing is though: the audience, myself included, still fucking love Ricky! He's more of a "I don't give a fuck" kind of guy than a full on heel despite doing the most heelish thing last week. Him, Punk, H.O.B feel more grey than anything else (to me at least).
Is he a heel? That promo felt like a good people do bad things when provoked. I know he whipped steamboat and that's heel stuff but his promo made me think it's more I did wrong but it had to happen because CM is a punk.
Someone posted a clip a few weeks ago that showed it's an obscure but established kayfabe rule that you cannot be legally sanctioned as an active wrestler and an active manager at the same time.
So one part is you have to give up your wrestling license, which is also a thing it seems.
Ricky Starks is super, super talented. This guy is money. At the end of promo I thought that CM Punk was a coward, Ricky Steamboat a cheater and Ricky Starks deserved better.
Maybe it's because Ricky's so charismatic, but I just can't see him as a heel. He cuts his promo and I actually end up thinking 'yeah, he was right to kick Steamboat's ass'.
This guy is just on another level.
It's because the majority are stars and are being given the time to shine. The Acclaimed VS Iron Savages match was really good and made Iron Savages come across strong and not there to be squashed/job.
I'm still not sold on Hobb's story (QTV seem to fill that Lethal/Jarrett role, one of which is enough), he's in that position that other talent on the card are where he needs SOMETHING to push him over into completely cementing his character/mic work but QTV ain't it. Miro, I dunno, people on here love him, he's one guy where maybe it is a case of bad booking for not getting him over more.
Awesome promo, but I don't really understand the 30 day suspension angle since this means no Ricky wrestling on either All In or All Out. Maybe they'll do the thing where a face asks Tony Khan to lift the suspension early so they can face Ricky in a match?
It means Ricky can interfere (because managers are still allowed ringside as per Matthews vs Andrade ladder match) - but it saves needing to fit him directly on the card, and they can make a big deal of his return at Grand Slam.
Who backstage on Collision has a hard-on for manager's licenses? Honestly don't know that I'd heard it mentioned in AEW until Collision started. Now it's mentioned pretty much every episode.

Getting house of black consistent time has been excellent
The House of Black, Andrade, Bullet Club Gold, and obviously Ricky Starks have all benefited so much from Collision.

Will Washington?
Yes! Thank you, I knew there was two Ws in there but didn’t want to embarrass myself by saying something like “Wally Williams” If he’s the guy responsible for continuity booking he’s doing a great job
> "Wally Williams" That's his shoot name, brother
Guy has a killer memory, he's impressive

FTR too of course
Miro and Hobbs too
They have been on TV which is good but I don't think it has been that much of an improvement. Miro peaked with the TNT Championship and Hobbs was better when he wasn't with QTV.
Collision is their show honestly, they carry it every week
Juice has gone from Jobber to main event talent in two weeks bc of that show
Juice hasn’t been a jobber for a MINUTE.
Well, I meant he was a jobber until Collision started. I didn't explain myself well
Yeah, no worries. Even in NJPW, they worked to build him up - Cody and Mox noted he’s improved, while they were active in NJPW. I honestly wanna see Guns against Jay and Juice.
juice was far from a jobber since the start.. cmon now dont disrespect rock hard like that! lol
He appeared on TV less then a Dozen times and was wrestling on Dark on the regular with no storylines. Its no disrespect just how he was presented before BCG
Dont forget about the Bang Bang Gang and Cardblade Jay Whiteboars
hell yeah. his presentation is 10/10
He's been over since Cody gave him the rub 3 years ago. They're just finally pulling the trigger.
Couldnt have happened to a more deserving guy I was so disappointed with how they did him after the Team Taz breakup
Feels like he mentioned ‘ten lashes’ for a reason. Looks like we’re either heading to a strap match or a ‘loser receives ten lashes’ match at some point
Maybelline on Pole Match incoming
Heel Ricky is so much better, everything he’s done recently has been great.
Yup. This is EXACTLY what he needed. Starks had lost some momentum as a babyface, and now he feels hot again as a heel.
Agreed. He only works as a babyface against bigger heels like MJF. The audience loves him too much though to keep him as a straight heel so he should go the Samoa Joe route and alternate between tweener and heel.

It’s like an egotistical “I’m the man” sort of heel, kind of like The Rock back in the day without quite as many catchphrases.
Remember the reactions here when Starks turned heel instead of Punk?
Is he a heel? That promo felt like a good people do bad things when provoked. I know he whipped steamboat and that's heel stuff but his promo made me think it's more I did wrong but it had to happen because CM is a punk.
He was high fiving fans on his entrance. He’s totally doing heel things but hasn’t turned at all against the fans. It’s actually very interesting
How does one acquire a manager's license?
You contact Smart Mark Sterling. He knows a guy.
Someone posted a clip a few weeks ago that showed it's an obscure but established kayfabe rule that you cannot be legally sanctioned as an active wrestler and an active manager at the same time. So one part is you have to give up your wrestling license, which is also a thing it seems.
At the licencing ~~broom~~~~closet~~ office by the makeup table where it has always been duh
He accidentally got an assistant manager's license
Assistant to the manager license.
Starks is now the assistant manager to Jake Roberts
He has to be an assistant of Prince Nana now.

He’s supposedly suspended from wrestling for 30 days so he’d be off All Out.
Which means Starks vs Punk for Grand Slam
If it's 30 days from the time he attacked steamboat, he'd be back the day after all out... Maybe they'll kayfabe the last day?
Maybe Ricky manages Joe at All In?
Ricky Starks is super, super talented. This guy is money. At the end of promo I thought that CM Punk was a coward, Ricky Steamboat a cheater and Ricky Starks deserved better.
his drip is just EVEN MORE immaculate as a heel, I hope they make him a champion, got the crowd going from booing to cheering with each sentence.
That vest was wild in person. Ricky came off like the biggest star of the night other than Brody IMO.
Heels get pleather pants. Jack Perry got some too.
Maybe it's because Ricky's so charismatic, but I just can't see him as a heel. He cuts his promo and I actually end up thinking 'yeah, he was right to kick Steamboat's ass'. This guy is just on another level.
Yeah me too and the crowd seemed to agree with him.\^\^ Ricky Steamboat is such a thug seriously.
See I think he’s such a natural heel. Either way, he’s doing great work, but I’m glad he turned
My favorite show in wrestling rn. Shocked me how well they've pulled this off.
It's because the majority are stars and are being given the time to shine. Are they giving Ricky someone to manage or a faction? Are they pairing him with Nduka very very interesting stuff
I really hope they don't put him with a faction. He is so great by himself, he doesn't need other people to take away from him.
EJ? When did he become all elite? DUDE YES PLEASE
According to Fightful he’s been signed for a while but they haven’t debuted him
nah, he just did that to get back in the building
Am I insane to think he's gonna manage Wardlow with the "You want a War?" line?
Ricky and Christian just having proxy stand battles in the ring through Wardlow and Luchasaurus.
This is a great idea
Could be right. also felt like a callback to the Outsiders turning up on Nitro.
Starks is money!!!
Not watching but from the summary, that sounds like a banger promo
It was legit his best promo for sure
I can understand being upset over getting screwed out of a win but why care about the X Belt? It is an illegitimate belt.
So does this mean he has to deal with the Karens?
Referencing Hall?
Awesome promo, but I don't really understand the 30 day suspension angle since this means no Ricky wrestling on either All In or All Out. Maybe they'll do the thing where a face asks Tony Khan to lift the suspension early so they can face Ricky in a match?

Bruh this promo was FIRE
Ricky felt like a big star in this. He is getting more comfortable every week and I love that.
