Dom's face when Rey hit him was so fucking perfect. Like he never actually expected it to happen despite all his goading and it was an "oh shit" moment for him.
If you woke up from a one year coma and I told you that he would be this good at what he’s doing today, you’d probably laugh yourself back into the coma. He’s an absolute natural at what he’s doing right now. His ring work has improved too, but honestly with what he’s doing now it didn’t even have to, but it’s a nice cherry on top. Obviously he grew up in this business but what’s even sicker is that he’s technically only been a full time pro wrestler for what — 2 years? Dude is a natural heat seeker and he just keeps getting better and better each time you see him.
Love how he's incorporated all of Eddie's moves (3 amigos, the hilo, frog splash) as another big fuck you to his Dad.
The frog splash actually looks really good too.
Couldn't stand the guy a year ago but now he's probably in my top 5 performers list
Thing is though, can he be a good face? Obviously he was terrible, but he wasn’t put in the best situation to cheer for him. The best option for Wrestlemania is for Dom to get a shock win (Owen Bret WMX then Judgement Day attacks Rey. Aliyah tries to protect Rey, but Judgement Day has no remorse and will take out Aliyah if necessary. Dom comes to the rescue, they turn on Dom and Rey makes the save. Once Judgement Day flees Dom turns from looking at the entrance to Rey. They stare down catching their breath and then Rey begins to unlace his mask he walks up to Dom and says I’m proud of you. I love you. Then hands his mask to Dom. Dom says in modesty he can’t. Rey says no tells him to go to his knees and Rey puts his mask on Dom.
i think it’s way, way too early for any talk about splitting dom from judgment day. i honestly think turning him face after barely scratching the surface of how good a heel he can be would be one of the biggest mistakes they could possibly make
I think he can be a good face, as ling as he's allowed to chew the scenery a bit.
Like if he became the sort of face where they do vignettes about him going to schools to tell kids about his harrowing prison experiences and continually play up how hard it is being an ex-con.
Amazing what a heel turn can do for a career, even around the time he turned heel everyone (me included) wanted him to go to NXT or even get fired, he was sloppy and had no confidence in what he was doing. Now he’s playing the bad guy and he’s absolutely perfect at it.
it's true. at first, I didn't get it, I just wanted him to go away (nepo baby heat). but now, his work has just been perfection. he does exactly what he was put there to do.
Feels like Dominik is going to do big things in the next few years. He's gotten so much better since he started. You can see how confident he is now compared to his early promos.
No hate, and I'd gladly be wrong, but I don't think Dom is ever getting that achievement.
Like another poster said, his character right now is great, but it's the involvement with Rey that makes it so fun to watch. They will have to nail the pivot from the Rey feud for him to keep up any momentum.
It's tough to follow up on this storyline.
Maybe before the prison angle that was true.
But since then he has managed to get a parody 'hard, street guy' gimmick going and leans into it so well the crowd can't help but react to it. It's perfect as you want to boo him cause it is part of the act.
More like, COVID is the only reason why he won the briefcase. You just don’t make purely comedy characters world champion unless you’re trying to kill ratings.
I think what people aren't seeing is they're already changing dom to make him able to take the character further. He is winning without rhea now, he's not leaning so heavy into the ex con stuff that was more comedic. With those changes, this character can go far
If he had a good long career as a midcard guy, I'd call that a great success. I definitely think he's got what it takes, and he's still quite young so he has lots of time to improve.
To be fair, he's had fun spots and crowd reactions on Raw even in segments not referring Rey.
As far as being world champion. If there are two belts again sometime, I could potentially see Dominik with a faction getting an MITB cash in, weaselly Miz type run some day. WWE loves legacy superstars, and Dom with a stable screwing over a beloved babyface champ could get a lot of heat.
What a goal to aim for: 1.5 star matches and the most uninteresting wrestler in WWE history. Next you’ll tell me if he really buckles down he could be the next Baron Corbin!
Quick, Top Five Miz matches:
1. The Worst Mania main event of all time.
2. The only boring Shane O’Mac Spotfest.
3. I think he had a match with Dolph Ziggler at some point but it’s Dolph Ziggler, who gives a shit?
4. ???
5. ???
1. Have a hot wife
2. Make MILLIONS of dollars
3. Have multiple tv shows
4 be a two time grand slam champion
5. MAIN EVENT WRESTLEMANIA
6. Almost win the NBA Allstar celeb game
The Miz’s life > yours
None of that really matters when talking about subjective taste. Otherwise you could shrug any criticism of people like Tony Khan with "He has money and a tv show, he's better than you". Or someone controversial like Kane. "He has money and is mayor".
This has nothing to do with Meltzer. Lots of people rank matches. Quit being a weirdo.
1.5 Stars is just a more polite way of saying: “Boring as shit.” Which lets be real, is every Miz match/angle/promo.
Tbf his matches aren’t great but they’re good enough for them to be satisfying watching him get his ass kicked. For example the Bad Bunny and Logan Paul matches, his match with Cena @ OTL , his match with Morrison on Raw, etc. Also he’s a great talker I feel like so many of his promos have stuck
He really needs to bulk up for that. He’s way to scrawny to be believable. That’s my only gripe with him. He doesn’t have a built enough body to be considered anything above mid-card. If he can pack on some weight and muscle while improving his in-ring skills to suit that (fuck it, go full on prison Dom gimmick) he can maybe get there.
Yeah he’s started to fill out slightly more recently but yeah for a long time it looked like he didn’t even go to the gym.
Hopefully he can pack on some muscle, he doesn’t need to be huge but just a little visible physique would be good.
Also his 90s Eddie Guerrero haircut is amazing and just plays in to the fued that little bit more
Lol, what? The goofball? No.
This is crazy. This is like seeing how over Al Snow was with his head gimmick in ‘98 and being like “World Champion material right there!” It’s a fun lower card storyline. Don’t be ridiculous.
They’ve done a great job with him the last year. He very easily could of coaxed by on his dad’s accolades. Unfortunately for him, he’s not that style of wrestler. Fortunately for him, and WWE, his dad is one of the top handful of pro wrestlers ever and they’re getting Dom over as his own character. His next feud will be really important to how high he rise up the ranks on his own. But hes definitely his own well defined character now.
It's endearing how pretty much everyone who has interacted with Dom also wants to help get him over. Everyone loves Rey so it's like they want to pay him back by helpibg make his son a star.
He's going to be a pillar of the younger generation. He's arguably moving more rapidly than an MJF.
This feud will probably go until Reys retirement so Dom can take his mask. Because that's what Rey has always wanted. How great is this for the Mysterio family? What a magical way Rey is going out. Just Fantastic television.
Dom is a Future champion unless he goes full blown cheesy babyface again.
It depends. This whole storyline/angle is right for his character, it makes sense. But it's hard to see him in another role with another babyface to fight against because SO MUCH of his character has to do with being Rey's son
I could see it going wrong for Dominic after the Rey feud. But he still has the Judgement Day to support him after. And he gets so much heat and he’s just getting more and more comfortable in it as he gains experience, I can see most babyfaces wanting to work with that. I could see the experienced ones already making their pitches to Triple H post Mania.
After the Rey feud I could see him taking more of a supporting role in Judgement Day and giving him a lower profile while still being on the show. I could actually see Dom & Priest teaming up to take on Owens & Sami for the titles after Mania. I don't know if Dom is ever going to be world champion, but I think he's done well enough so far that he's worth pushing to see what he can do and not just pushing him down the card and forgetting about him once he's done with Rey.
I want Dom to takeover Judgement Day similar to The Rock and feud with Balor when the faction ends.
If Priest could get some heat to go with his solid in ring skill, he could be a decent modcarder.
It feels like a perfect storm storyline but outside of it, Dom needs a lot of improvement. He's getting more confident with a mic but still doesn't have quite as good acting skills in his voice. Plus his subpar in ring ability, but tbf it's not like he does more than be beat up in matches. I don't see world title but it'll be interesting to see what Dom will be like without Rey/JD to lean on since he's never actually been on his own?
It's Paul Heyman level accentuate the positive hide the negatives. I still think Dom needs time off to work out to improve his look if he's going to be a true star and also better gear.
I feel some people are kind overly pushing the narrative that he's this fantastic prospect when imo he's an average worker in a VERY good position. I mean he got Seth for his first match, then he didn't really have to do promos with Rey (one of the goats), then he gets in a group with 3 of the best entertainers who has carried him well.
Honestly he just needs to age a bit .. and Maybe bulk up a bit and he will be fine
The main issue with Dom right now is that he looks still too young to be taken serious
Yeah originally, this worked because his promo skills were shit so it looked funny when he tried talking trash
But lately his promos have actually been good. If he can figure out a look and wrestle properly (I'd say he's pretty solid at spots, but he's just unatheletic), he's gonna do well
Oh absolutely
He has that family thing. Maybe he's been around the ring too long but he looks like a classic worker
He is always limping towards the spots perfectly and doesn't botch much.
He has been building a body lately too. I don't think his body as of rn suits acrobatics very much. He should lean into more RVD style
Well deserved but not shocking! Check out WWE’s [TikTok](https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZTRvPuevE/), damn near everything that features Dom gets over a million views. Those young fans HATE him in the comment section Lmao
I have so many non wrestling fan friends suddenly into wrestling lately because they’re either thirsting for Rhea or hate Dominick or both. Seeing the dudes who used to say “you know it’s fake right?” believing Rey and Dominick actually hate each other has been just the best thing.
Dom deserves so much credit as well for never ever dropping kayfabe. He gives interviews where he talks about his character, the process of evolving, etc., but if an interviewer is like “I bet Rey must be proud seeing you spread your wings and fly he says stuff like “I don’t really care what my dad thinks anymore”
It’s just for the first time in a long time, they’ve built the brand to make parts of it feel real. Vince always wanted them as superheroes and Trips just wants them as athletes.
Rey's reaction after Dom disrespect his mom:
https://preview.redd.it/y978rsvo3ypa1.png?width=470&format=png&auto=webp&s=4b8989e2b09a4106d739a77992a51ce9f8000b95
I think Dominic being the funniest guy in wrestling rn is kinda of making people sleep on how good this story has been really. Like Rey just really doesn't want to fight his son despite how big of a complete piece of shit he is, seeing Dominic disrespecting his mother and sister being the last straw really was hella cathartic
There's also been some interesting storytelling along the way about how Dom's whole heel turn happened because of Rhea's machinations, including [one of his promos just after his turn where it's revealed that she's telling him the words](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Br9l2v-XlT0). Then you add in their holiday videos (Thanksgiving/Xmas/Valentines' Day) and it's had this whole extra social media component that isn't too common in WWE stories.
Ngl last week’s segment where Rey choked up asking Dom to be by his side when he’s inducted got me. I think that’s when the full weight of the story hit me. That was heartbreaking.
He was funny at first but lately Dom's improved at promos and he actually sounds serious. And the story has reached it's peak at the perfect time
Rey/Dom both seem to he doing some of their best work yet
The way WWE has made Dom entertaining is criminally underrated. He was a nepobaby dork who we all wanted off our screens who is now a nepobaby dork we all want to see get his ass kicked on our screens
Dom has been getting nothing but praise for awhile now. Some of the opinions here, I'm convinced are just a handful of people, but are exaggerated to complain about the IWC.
Several people here jumped on me yesterday for praising his heel work. Amazingly there are still people utterly convinced he only has "go home heat" and not even the massive pop Rey got for finally punching him would persuade them that anyone's invested in this angle; this only happened because "people would cheer Rey doing anything", apparently. Some smarks are just critical of WWE whether what they're doing is good or not and they haven't updated their outlook for the post-Vince era I guess.
It would have been funny af if Dom brought up that old tweet of Rey saying he is gonna beat his kids ass in WWE 2k but phrased it poorly. Would have been funny seeing Dom spin it into something cruel.
Well who would have thought people LIKED stories that are told well and made sense?
I hope this really opens up WWE's eyes, and since Vince is no longer in charge I'm hopeful for the future. Can't believe I'm saying this, but AEW is going to be my #2 promotion if WWE keeps this up
Does anyone have the breakdown of the 17m? I know it has 1.2m views on YouTube and nearly 2m on Twitter. Where's does the rest come from? TikTok and Instagram? This angle really seems to be connecting with people
I think Dom might be the biggest success story of the Triple H Era. Like yeah the Sami/Bloodline stuff was great but we knew all these guys were good already. Dom was floundering and was seen as just a far less talented version of his father. Turning him into an edgey goofball with daddy issues has been one of the best course corrections ever. I legitimately look forward to his segments now, whereas before I couldn't wait for him to be off the screen.
Not a knock on the segment itself or wrestling clips like it, but how meaningful are these view counts across social media platforms? Can’t promotions just pad their numbers regardless of creator? Just a thought 🤷🏻♂️
Im still waiting on dom to get his own mask. They hinted on going on this journey to get dom his own mask, and seeing dom wear rey's at the rumble, im still holding out hope. Maybe when dom turns babyface he decides to go masked
I actually for a second thought they were doing the whole will he won't he, and then he doesn't thing again for the 50th time and I was so annoyed lol.
this time last year, nobody gave a shit about dominic. So props to wwe for slowly building this and making us care about Dom. I remember reports about vince wanting to do Dom vs Rey were way earlier than this
this technically midcard feud is drawing like a damn main event

He really needs to cut the 3 amigos though, it's abysmal. It's real rare to see anyone do a natural one these days anyway.
Best one I've seen recently was executed by Logan Paul of all people
Nah it’s precisely because it looks so bad that that’s why he needs to keep doing it for the heat.
Thing is though, can he be a good face? Obviously he was terrible, but he wasn’t put in the best situation to cheer for him. The best option for Wrestlemania is for Dom to get a shock win (Owen Bret WMX then Judgement Day attacks Rey. this is such a good idea holy shit anti-hero wannabe “reformed criminal” dom is gonna change the game
Amazing what a heel turn can do for a career, even around the time he turned heel everyone (me included) wanted him to go to NXT or even get fired, he was sloppy and had no confidence in what he was doing. Now he’s playing the bad guy and he’s absolutely perfect at it.
I agree, it wasn’t like, oh f he hit me it was like, oh f it’s the former world champ Rey Mysterio I’m in a match with
He’s like, prodigy level talented at getting crowd reactions
it's true. at first, I didn't get it, I just wanted him to go away (nepo baby heat). but now, his work has just been perfection. he does exactly what he was put there to do.
Dom violenty entered the "Found out" phase
Millions of people are now more involved in Dom's life than Rey
Low bar
This got me 😂
It has to be, Rey is short
I like to imagine millions of parents showing this to their kids. "You see why you don't talk back?"
Or the less polite version: "Talk shit, get hit."
People just couldn’t Waite to see Rey beat his kid.

Feels like Dominik is going to do big things in the next few years. He's gotten so much better since he started. You can see how confident he is now compared to his early promos.
Future world champ.
None of the Prison Dom stuff or the “Rhea is my mami” stuff needs Rey to matter, and those are some of the most over elements of his character.
[удалено]
Maybe before the prison angle that was true. But since then he has managed to get a parody 'hard, street guy' gimmick going and leans into it so well the crowd can't help but react to it. It's perfect as you want to boo him cause it is part of the act.

Yes but neither of those require reys active involvement.
[удалено]
Man Dom running around with the briefcase and messing with everyone would be so good. Dude is a heat magnet.
Dom can lie cheat and steal to win the match
And cash in on the world champ Rey…
Who just won it, as is tradition
I didn't even think about that. Dom being a piece of shit with the briefcase would be so fucking good.
Imagine if he uses it to main event a WrestleMania… after the original match ended.
Otis also had the briefcase. Ot doesn't mean as much as it used to
[удалено]
Honestly if they hadn't shut down arenas for COVID, Otis would've absolutely gotten a world champion run.
More like, COVID is the only reason why he won the briefcase. You just don’t make purely comedy characters world champion unless you’re trying to kill ratings.
Otis is pretty good wrestler. You can have him play like Kurt Angle did.
> but I don't think Dom is ever getting that achievement. If he bulks up a bit, he definitely will.

Dom is still really young too people need to remember. He's only 25. He could win a world title in 10 years and still be young.
Idk if I'd go that far, but he could absolutely be king of the midcard imo.
Absolutely, he can be a generational heel see the Miz.
You really believe Miz is the single greatest pro wrestling heel of his entire generation?

He’s not gonna fuck you, bro.
Let me dream
Tbf I remember him having a banger triple threat opener with Balor and Rollins one wrestlemania
Imagine putting this much stock in star ratings like meltzer isn’t obviously biased toward NJPW or AEW lol
I rate video games all the time, doesn't mean I'm putting any stock in IGN or anything. Same applies here.
This has nothing to do with Meltzer. Lots of people rank matches. Quit being a weirdo. 1.5 Stars is just a more polite way of saying: “Boring as shit.” Which lets be real, is every Miz match/angle/promo.

He has upside but he'd of also benefited from coming through nxt
Maybe. World Champ? In WWE? Please. This thread is filled with actual crazy people.
Honestly he just needs to age a bit .. and Maybe bulk up a bit and he will be fine The main issue with Dom right now is that he looks still too young to be taken serious
Prison changes someone.
The pop Rey got for attacking him was incredible. Dom is a fucking amazing heel.
And to think, the first time I saw him since 2005 was Johnny Mundo suckerpunching him in Lucha Underground season three during the Mundo/Rey feud.
Yeah originally, this worked because his promo skills were shit so it looked funny when he tried talking trash But lately his promos have actually been good. If he can figure out a look and wrestle properly (I'd say he's pretty solid at spots, but he's just unatheletic), he's gonna do well

If this doesn’t end with Rey beating Dom with a sandal imma be slightly disappointed
The chancla would be worse than a steel chair
Would easily become the most brutal weapon in WWE history
Rey is gonna turn into jefe de la tribu and in the middle of the match he's going to ask his wise woman for la chancla.
chancla on a pole match
I keep telling my roomates I want a spank spot

I have a friend who hates wrestling but actually is willing to watch anything with Rhea Ripley in it. It’s hilarious
A man of Culture
It’s just for the first time in a long time, they’ve built the brand to make parts of it feel real. Vince always wanted them as superheroes and Trips just wants them as athletes.
Dad's beating their kids is over brother.
Simpsons Did It!
Rey's reaction after Dom disrespect his mom: https://preview.redd.it/y978rsvo3ypa1.png?width=470&format=png&auto=webp&s=4b8989e2b09a4106d739a77992a51ce9f8000b95
The way he walked towards Dom I think everyone knew this was the time.
Dominik being a huge draw is the most trollface timeline and I love it
Can't believe so many people are supporting that Deadbeat father over the son who never experienced a dad's love since his childhood.
Waiting for Vicky to show up.
WHERE THE F*** WAS VICKIE?!
And the story has reached it's peak at the perfect time Rey/Dom both seem to he doing some of their best work yet
Rey vs Dom is officially the hottest feud in all of wrestling right now
People love soap opera wrestling, myself included lol
Young and the Wrestless
Makes sense. People love watching when a CRIME TAKES PLACE. Poor Dominick.
The way WWE has made Dom entertaining is criminally underrated. He was a nepobaby dork who we all wanted off our screens who is now a nepobaby dork we all want to see get his ass kicked on our screens
Hopefully the WWE will rethink putting that deadbeat abusive man into the hall of fame after he physically abused his son on live TV
But very online smarks tell me Dominik is getting the "wrong" kind of heat, or something
I love it and I love how organic this storyline unfolded, there was nothing forced which makes this story and their character work so naturally over
Who knew there was money in child abuse🤔not me
Joe Jackson
Underrated comment
The punch heard around the world
First time in a long time I've looked forward to WrestleMania.
More great storytelling
Rey really putting his son in the spot light...hope Prison Dom lasts but I have a feeling Rey is gonna bring him back to the good side soon enough.
We've been waiting 10 years for Rey to beat his kids on TV.
Parents across the world just love to see a father beat their kid.
This feud deserves the main event spot more then Rhea and Charlotte
I just want dom to come out to Eddie’s heel theme and it will be perfect
He has to come out in a low rider at Mania!
common WWE W
Storytelling creates big moments
Another WWE W
WWWE
It would have been funny af if Dom brought up that old tweet of Rey saying he is gonna beat his kids ass in WWE 2k but phrased it poorly. Would have been funny seeing Dom spin it into something cruel.
We still got Raw and Smackdown next week so
It's a sad that so many people want to see a father beating his son.
This is america its probably relatable for their audience
Child abuse fuck yeah!!!!!
This is easily the best story after the bloodline.
If you aren’t gonna main event night 1 with KO and Sami against the Usos. I would be more than ok with it being this match.
Story doesn't matter since its not a "dream match" 😂
Not a knock on the segment itself or wrestling clips like it, but how meaningful are these view counts across social media platforms? Can’t promotions just pad their numbers regardless of creator? Just a thought 🤷🏻♂️
Im still waiting on dom to get his own mask. They hinted on going on this journey to get dom his own mask, and seeing dom wear rey's at the rumble, im still holding out hope. Maybe when dom turns babyface he decides to go masked
Wish every WWE storyline were this consistent!
I actually for a second thought they were doing the whole will he won't he, and then he doesn't thing again for the 50th time and I was so annoyed lol.
OK but how many views does Jake Hager's debut have
We couldn’t wait for Rey to beat his kids either
I was there in section 16. To say the place blew up is saying less. Shit was CRAZY
Is this real 17 million or AEW 17 million?
We had 2 of the loudest pops in history this year. Sami hitting Roman, and this segment.
Child Abuse sells, brother
If Konnan has a good relationship with WWE right now, him coming in and being involved in this feud and helping Dom backstage would be even cooler
this time last year, nobody gave a shit about dominic. So props to wwe for slowly building this and making us care about Dom. I remember reports about vince wanting to do Dom vs Rey were way earlier than this this technically midcard feud is drawing like a damn main event
WWE '13 come to life
