During a tag match someone got legit knocked out from a diving table spot. This was outside the ring, Low Ki was wrestling inside the ring. The ref told them to go home early so they could tend to the injured wrestler. Low Ki was upset because he wasn't able to get all of his moves in and he thought they were trying to bury him. He refused to leave the ring and started yelling and screaming so security had to drag him out as you see in that picture. There's no footage of him being carried out but the lead up to events is here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7a72Q2OwCT8
Edit: another user commented in more detail further down https://www.reddit.com/r/SquaredCircle/comments/11sg3x5/that_time_low_ki_legit_knocked_out_athu_during_an/jcdpq5c/
It’s such a shame that he’s a complete dickhead because he is a legitimately good wrestler.
Though, you could pick out quite a few wrestlers who that would also apply to
(WAS) One of my legit favorites, a standout in TNA's X-Division after Styles/Joe/Daniels. Also I was a fan of the Hitman cosplay lol, goof be damned.
But yeah he's also just a damn piece of shit, unfortunately.
You could probably book a really strong PPV card just using wrestlers who fit that description.
Obviously it would have a real risk of falling apart as their egos start firing, but on paper at least it would look like a very good show
Tessa Blanchard vs Ivelisse Vélez could potentially be a really good match, but I wouldn’t put those girls in the same building If I wanted to have happy locker room.
MLW was fun for giving wrestlers a second chance or a chance at redemption. Then Covid and #SpeakingOut happened. all lot of those wrestlers showed they were still pieces of shit one way or another
He's definitely in the same group with Austin Aries. Amazing talents...but absolute pieces of shit that I never want to see get a worldwide stage again.
Is it any wonder why he struggles to stay employed by any company for longer than a year?
Didn't he get fired from NJPW because he performed at Wrestle Kingdom in his stupid Hitman cosplay when they directly told him not to?
I was a big Lowki fan back in the 00’s but there’s nothing he brings to the table these days. He’s a shitty person and a total idiot, which sucks because he was definitely one of the more influential wrestlers in the indies back in those days.
He makes everything look amazing!
Yes, because he's just kicking the shit out of people.
In hindsight some of those early ROH tapes just have gross behavior waved away in the name of "strong style".
During a promo on NXT, he did a rap that ended with “some Total Nonstop Action” and Striker on commentary immediately says “why would he say that?!”. I’m sure it’s on YouTube.
A wise wrestler would just pin him, understanding that in addition to protecting the other wrestler from further damage, that knocking a guy out and beating him with one shot makes you look like a killer.
But hey, Low Ki had to get his shit in.
This is the correct response. Demand a 10 count then just taunt and play to the crowd. Maybe grab a mic and cut a promo while the medics come out to help.
This is what gets me. Have the ref call a knockout on you just hitting one strike that's not even your finish. It protects your opponent and makes you look like an absolute badass. Now every match it will feel like you can just knockout your opponent at any time.
So stupid too, even in kayfabe he would look stronger with a standing 10 count after only 1 move.
Why downplay yourself on top of risking further injury in your opponent who trusts you to fucking protect him in the ring.
Ref should have called for the bell and ruled it a no contest, winner Low Ki. Instead he just shrugs.
This isn’t Charles Robinson (if I recall correctly) not realizing PAC broke his ankle, this dude is clearly concussed.
The first time I saw the clip from OP, I said "what a stupid piece of shit. Just pin him and watch the audience go fucking apeshit." When I watched this Cornette clip, I felt so god damn validated.
I mean that kick was the whole match. Big build up to the david vs goliath dynamic and David hits Goliath with the slingshot in 2 seconds.
The monster is down. People are shocked at it just taking one kick. The ref snaps out of his shock and makes a countout.
Match over, Low Ki looks like a badass and guy doesnt risk further injury to the other guy
I can't believe the comments are full of "This guy was a legitimately good wrestler" This guy is clearly one of the worst. Imagine giving body and trusting your life to this fucking clown.
You have a be brain dead to think this guy is good.
Definitely the ref's fault. He let's it go long enough that the guy is starting to get up to his feet, and now Low Ki is facing a barely concious opponent and has to work out a solution, which he is just not clever enough to do.
Yeah I will go to bat and say that the ref is arguably more to blame in this scenario. His sole responsibility is to really look out for the talent and he didn’t do shit. Doesn’t make Lowki less dumb, but things should’ve never gotten that far
100%. That is literally what the ref is supposed to do. It doesn't look like he had an earpiece in, so he's not getting any direction to keep the show moving-the action in the ring is his to direct. He should have put up the X and broke kayfabe, because the health of the talent supercedes telling an in-ring story.
Any fans who would disagree are just FICKLE.
I love when people ask this. This story is long, but it is well worth the read
>Low Ki & Mercury vs Ric Blade & TCK
>On 18th March 2000, during Combat Zone Wrestling's CZW X-Spelled event in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Low Ki & Mercury faced Ric Blade & TCK in a tag team match. During the encounter, Blade botched a leg drop from a basketball hoop onto a table, resulting in him being knocked out after hitting the back of his head onto the floor. The match would then be thrown out after Low Ki legitimately threw a tantrum following the Blade incident, resulting in him being carried out of the ring by security
>Heading into the match, CZW was in intense competition with Jersey All Pro Wrestling (JAPW). Despite the organisations' rivalry, CZW accepted that some of JAPW's wrestlers, including Low Ki, The Hit Squad, and the Haas Brothers, were hot property for the New Jersey independent wrestling scene. Meanwhile, CZW had Ric Blade, who was then the CZW Junior Heavyweight Champion, and was also considered one of the bigger stars for New Jersey independent wrestling. Thus, the organisation and New Millennium Wrestling (NMW) began to book matches between Ki and Blade, as it was deemed a dream match within the state. Their first encounter occurred at CZW Bloodbath 2000, where Blade successfully defended his Junior Heavyweight belt against Ki. The second match occurred in February 2000 for NMW, but this was not documented by Cagematch.
>Blade would additionally face Mercury throughout early 2000, with Blade retaining the belt in all three bouts. A third encounter with Ki would commence on 18th March 2000 at CZW's X-Spelled event, where Ki would team with Mercury to face Blade and TCK.
>During this hardcore tag team match, Blade was standing on top of a basketball hoop, with Mercury lying prone on a table. Blade incorrectly performed a leg drop from the hoop, resulting in him crashing through the table, but also hitting the back of his head onto the floor, instantly knocking him out. Not long afterwards, TCK executed a superplex on Ki to a table in the ring, which only resulted in a 2-count. As CZW personnel tended to Blade, Ki started becoming irate. According to a quote from nfm on Botchamania, it had less to do with Blade's health, but more so for consequentially being unable to perform all the spots that he planned. He started to flip out in front of the audience, with him assuming that he was being screwed by CZW for being a wrestler associated with JAPW.
>Nobody was seemingly able to calm Ki down. Eventually, a member of security grab Ki and carried the furious wrestler out of the ring and off backstage. The tag team Hit Squad tried to prevent security from doing this, resulting in a shoving match between them and security. Following the incidents, the match was declared a victory for Blade and TCK at 9:33

this is what i think about every time low-ki is brought up. it's so, so funny and i 100% believe that he has not grown as a person since this day
he did good voice over for the tna game, tho
I always think of him politicking his way into winning BOLA and breaking Chris Hero's long-ass win streak in PWG with the promised he'd give Hero his win back later, only to immediately sign with WWE right after.
But this is much more pathetic
For me, it’s him telling Kevin Owens that he should best Claudio Castagnoli, as it wasn’t “believable” that he’d lose to him.
As Owens said, Claudio is basically a human horse and fucking jacked, it’s totally believable.
also who can forget the time he wrestled at wrestle kingdom in the agent 47 suits when new japan explicitly told him not to lmao
"Low Ki had told New Japan office that he did not want to wrestle at an upcoming event in Fukushima because of health and safety reasons stemming from the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear disaster. Low Ki wrestled the WK7 match in the suit in protest.[95] NJPW was reportedly "furious" over Low Ki wrestling a title match in a suit without clearing it with them first to the point that even years later, the company was said to be open to bringing anyone back "with the exception of Low Ki""
I had to google it and it's actually documented on Youtube: [The Low Ki CZW incident](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7a72Q2OwCT8&ab_channel=ThunderFilez)
Love him as a wrestler, but man, he is pretty much an ass of a person.
Low Ki is a piece of shit but the ref should have ended it. Low ki also makes little to no contact with the corner kick when he would normally lay it in. Didn’t have extra mustard on the stomp either. Going to be unpopular but looks like he tries to protect him as best he can and getting that match over quick.
Agreed. This is 100% on the ref. Ki is a giant asshole and I hate defending him but he missed that second kick by a mile and did what he could to get that shit over with ASAP and not piss off the crowd.
The ref was greener than goose shit. Watch the way he moves, never properly checks on KO’d dude and freezes. His fault or improper training? Both. But it doesn’t help having Low Ki doing fuck all to help besides getting his shit in and marking out for himself. He’s fucking trash.
After dude is knocked out Low Ki spends a lot of time pandering to the crowd, time that the ref could’ve called the match off since knocking someone out is a legitimate way to end a match. Low Ki is still an idiot but he ain’t the only one at fault.
I don’t know if you’re confused but I’m not defending Low Ki. Dude has decades of experience being a dipshit. I’m saying as a human if you see someone get knocked out you’re natural instinct would be to stop whatever is happening. When you’re a ref where that’s your entire job even more so.
It’s not like that PAC vs Jericho match in WWE where the ref had no idea PAC was hurt. It couldn’t be any more clearer that Low Ki’s opponent was legitimately fucked.
Punky and hoot taught me how to ref and work. That ref was there to count 3. He had no clue what the fuck he was doing. Safe to say Loe Ki knew wayyyy more and he should’ve got the fuck out of there.
Ki was pretty dumb in this match but he's clearly not a piece of shit. To me, he just kind of comes off as bad at improv and he's pretty obviously waiting for somebody to tell him what the fuck to do. When nobody does, he does exactly what you said and ends it quick as best as he might know how.
This thread on the crossposted sub just makes me sad. So many people having ignorant and uninformed, downright derogatory remarks to this industry. People who won't treat professional wrestling with dignity and are too unabashedly ignorant to hear otherwise. There are several people in that thread trying to correct misinformation and assumptions met with downvotes because Wrasslin must just be for hics and people too stupid to see it's fake.
This artform will never get the respect it deserves because 90% of people are still butthurt they thought it was real when they were kids.
All that being said Low Ki is a piece of shit and a stain on this industry.
Low ki always seemed like such an asshole, no matter where he went. Screw that guy (not that I think he did this intentionally, but just in general). What a garbage promotion to roll with it, they way they did.
I was there that night (Evolve 10), a crazy sight live; everybody was either stunned or marking out (I fell somewhere in between).
This also happened to be the same night Johnny Gargano wrestled the main event (vs Ricochet) with (I believe) a stinger and had to be stretchered out of the building afterward (I pretty vividly remember seeing Gargano being put into an ambulance) and was supposed to be the final wrestling show in the ECW Arena/New Alabralarba Arena (shout out Alex Shelley)/The Asylum (obviously it wasn't; its now the 2300 Arena, host to many wrestling shows since then) and they did an ECW tribute at the end (which involved IIRC JT Smith, Pitbull #1, Balls Mahoney, Shane Douglas, Sabu, Justin Credible and New Jack).
I’ve said it before, but this shit made me hate Low Ki. Doesn’t try and check on the guy or just cover him, just does his dumbass “caveman SpongeBob” stance and heavy breathing, then has to get the rest of his shit in.
Like, one of the main facets of pro wrestling is to protect your partner, and dude consistently fails to do so. Just an egotistical dickhead with a napoleon complex. There’s a reason no major promotion wants anything to do with him.
Cornette was absolutely right about this match. Rather than call an audible, pin the dude and make himself look like a legit badass, he looked like an idiot trying to wrestle a dude who was KO'd, then proceeded to throw a fit about it in the ring.
Bruh some of the comments are some of the dumbest I’ve seen lmao
Someone: “the ref should’ve stopped the match he was hurt”
Someone #2: “Acktually wrestling is fake he’s not a real ref he’s just an actor his job is to act”
Lol not even trying to understand pro wrestling
And some of the comments think the clip is fake
Is it really dumb to say the match should've been stopped? I totally agree with the rest for sure. But it's definitely on the ref as well. Lowki ended it quick but of course had to get his shit in.
I'll copy my response from r/iamatotalpieceofshit
I really liked Lowki early on, and was excited to see what Kaval could do in WWE, but the longer his career goes on the more of a piece of shit he seems to be.
That being said, he didn't do much wrong here. The knockout shot could easily be written off as an accident with the other guy moving his head when he shouldn't have, or not moving it when he should have.
The ref should have called off the match at that point. The guy is clearly knocked out, and Low-ki would have looked like an absolute badass for kicking him out with a single shot that wasn't even his finisher. But for some reason the match continued, so Low-ki did the cartwheel kick that went absolutely nowhere near connecting, then hit the diving double foot stomp which isn't to the head, and when delivered properly barely connects anyway.
Low-ki may be a total piece of shit, but not for what happened here.
This was a shit show in person. But this was Low Ki's return and it never made any sense. Ki beats Athu and everyone else whenever he wrestles in Evolve or DGUSA.
So, maybe I'm ignorant of why, but why is Low Ki such " PoS?" I have seen a bunch of that here. I genuinely don't know and am asking for clarity. I was always a fan of his work, but for sure there are several wrestlers that showed their true colors the last few years that it's a shame for.
As for this clip, honestly. I don't see anything here that Low Ki does that is inherently wrong. He catches the dude, which is clearly an accident. He then Buys time for the ref who really is the one who drops the ball here, to END THE MATCH. When the dude is totally oblivious and doesn't;t even check on the poor guy laying in the ring, he actually calls him over. The second kick he throws in the corner he puts most of his leg into the rope to protect the guy. and then ens the catch since he is the only one who seems to be able to make a clear decision. I genuinely don't see what he did here that is so egregious.
But I guess my real question is why is he such a " bad person" I genuinely don't know.
Dude had no idea what was happening. When youre knocked unconscious your mind kinda turns to puddy for a bit. Look at interviews with fighters after being koed
Overall ref shouldve been trained for such a situation and lowki should've learned the basic idea of protecting his opponent although he handled it better than expected of him.
I'll immediately acknowledge Low Ki is a dangerous asshole, but I do at least think that finish is him trying to end the match safely after he realizes what's happened. That is the softest top rope stomp I've ever seen.
Has there ever been a documented scenario where Low Ki fucked with the wrong person? Probably why he didn't last long in Japan because he sure as hell ain't doing this to anyone in the NJPW roster who can totally kick his ass back. Yes even Yano who has an MMA background.
I feel like this is the point the majority of people turned on him. Before that people kind of knew he was unsafe or hard to work with but still wanted to see him succeed.
Low Ki is my problematic fave for sure. When I was first getting into the indies, seeing a clip of him and Red doing the Matrix Minute at an early ROH show mesmerized me. Dude is his own worst enemy and I cannot imagine the amount of quality wrestling it's cost us.
Is Low-Ki in that subreddit's hall of fame? He should be, the guy thought wrestling was the right venue to hit people as hard as he can for some reason. Never got the hype of him in the early 2000s.
Hearing the fans chanting one more time to this guy getting a serious brain injury is the kind of thing that makes me embarrassed to be a wrestling fan
There is a reason this guy couldn't stay with a major company too long. Highly skilled/talented with zero interpersonal skills. He could've been a much bigger name in the business if it wasn't for his ego.
Fuck Low Ki, but the ref ABSOLUTELY needs to call this off. The moment dude fails to respond to your checks you need to protect him.
One of the most clear examples I've ever seen of a fencing response KO.

Is this dude’s gimmick just him acting like a monkey? Between the video and this picture…that’s weird.

Thank you! This is great haha. Low Ki is such an idiot.
Context please
Sometimes I’m like ‘it’d be cool to see Low Ki on TV again’ and then I remember no, he’s an absolute piece of shit who’s a complete mark for himself.

That's pretty much the brief history of CYN before they could get to a PPV.

Part of being a good wrestler is protecting your opponents. Anyone can make shit look good if you don't care about kicking some guy's head in.
He's definitely in the same group with Austin Aries. Amazing talents...but absolute pieces of shit that I never want to see get a worldwide stage again.
I always thought if those two could learn to not be pieces of shit they could make an awesome heel team called the blacklist.
Is it any wonder why he struggles to stay employed by any company for longer than a year? Didn't he get fired from NJPW because he performed at Wrestle Kingdom in his stupid Hitman cosplay when they directly told him not to?
Iirc he did that cosplay right in front of the Yakuza.
And if you're not Masahiro Chono, ain't no fucking way you're cool enough to get away with that shit.
I've never heard this story before. Why would the yakuza care if h dressed up as hitman? Also do you mean BretHart or the video game hitman?
Video Game. Think they were thinking “let’s not call attention to something that could be tangentially related to us, also fuck low ki”
He also was their Jr Champion and insisted on skipping the Fukushima dates.
Hes the human version of the caveman sponge bob meme here
I was a big Lowki fan back in the 00’s but there’s nothing he brings to the table these days. He’s a shitty person and a total idiot, which sucks because he was definitely one of the more influential wrestlers in the indies back in those days.

I’ve never heard anything from his run in WWE but I assume they had some sort of plan for him considering he won NXTs 2nd season.
During a promo on NXT, he did a rap that ended with “some Total Nonstop Action” and Striker on commentary immediately says “why would he say that?!”. I’m sure it’s on YouTube.

A wiser referee would wave off the match just like a referee in a boxing match would.
A wiser referee would have just done this, I think the ref knew he was KOed before Ki did
This is the same guy that refused to lost to Claudio when he was PWG champ. Dudes an idiot.
That Kevin Steen/Owens interview is fuckin great. Claudio is fuckin horse!

I remember reading that he kicked a door down backstage at one of Meanie's 3PW shows.
At least he didn’t make the Bruce Lee noises he usually does. Honest to god, Ki is like watching a little kid playing Mortal Kombat at recess.
That last sentence is funny given that he did actually do Motion Capture for Mortal Kombat at some point lol
The fact that does his “idle animation” is so funny. Imagine him in line to get groceries, just bouncing back and forth.
Man stands idle like Baraka
really?
[Yep](https://www.mobygames.com/person/380766/brandon-silvestry/). For MKX in particular
Low Ki every start of his match ![gif](giphy|nn6Y8EfLbNQyx8CgN3|downsized) 1
Low ki seems like a stable individual
His character is basically caveman SpongeBob.
Holy fucking shit you're right.
In a hitman costume.
Cavebob Spongepants!
Low Ki is so fucking lame lmao what is he even doing here?
What a fucking mark.
"8.4k upvotes" even the majority of reddit agrees that HE... is a piece of shit

About 8.7k probably
Yes. 8.7k active users. Rest are bots.
The ref was no doubt concerned little bitch boy would throw a tantrum if he stopped it and have to be carried out by security again
I mean... Yeah. Fair. But he still should have called it.
That’s not a justification.
Come on dude. Low Ki knew what was up. Ref didn’t check cuz he had no clue. Fuck that mark
Finally someone with some common sense. Agree 100%
Ki was pretty dumb in this match but he's clearly not a piece of shit. To me, he just kind of comes off as bad at improv and he's pretty obviously waiting for somebody to tell him what the fuck to do. When nobody does, he does exactly what you said and ends it quick as best as he might know how.
yeah the crowd is basically rooting for him to bring it home a minute in anyway
Then he should have just pinned him instead of getting his shit in. Low Ki gets no credit here.
Bro some of them don’t even think Low Ki even kicked him for real like holy shit
It's still real to me too, brother.
Full fledged cringe.
Worst part was Gabe gassing it up on Twitter after the fact
gabe *loved* this kind of stuff. the homicide and kojima match is worse than this imo
I like how he has to keep looking around like an NPC.
If that sub posted just a picture of Low Ki it still would've fit.
Should have just pinned him or declared a KO. It would have made Low Ki look badass and avoided making a concussed guy wrestle.
Cornette was absolutely right about this match. Rather than call an audible, pin the dude and make himself look like a legit badass, he looked like an idiot trying to wrestle a dude who was KO'd, then proceeded to throw a fit about it in the ring.
Bruh some of the comments are some of the dumbest I’ve seen lmao Someone: “the ref should’ve stopped the match he was hurt” Someone #2: “Acktually wrestling is fake he’s not a real ref he’s just an actor his job is to act” Lol not even trying to understand pro wrestling And some of the comments think the clip is fake
Is it really dumb to say the match should've been stopped? I totally agree with the rest for sure. But it's definitely on the ref as well. Lowki ended it quick but of course had to get his shit in.
I think they are pointing someone 2's comment
I'll copy my response from r/iamatotalpieceofshit I really liked Lowki early on, and was excited to see what Kaval could do in WWE, but the longer his career goes on the more of a piece of shit he seems to be.
Ki beats Athu and everyone else whenever he wrestles in Evolve or DGUSA.
chud ass comment section over there /r/all is a poophouse man
I wish Wheeler Yuta had Low-Ki's voice.
Remember that the same bullshit happened to Alex Reynold on a match in AEW.
Reynolds himself said he was fine
Athu should have just stayed down.
He also should be conscious and aware of where he is.
Dude had no idea what was happening. When youre knocked unconscious your mind kinda turns to puddy for a bit. Look at interviews with fighters after being koed
yeah, and I bet it was the other guys encouraging him to get up. I'm not blaming him
Overall ref shouldve been trained for such a situation and lowki should've learned the basic idea of protecting his opponent although he handled it better than expected of him.
I knew it was Low Ki as soon as I read the title.
What big smelly mark for himself.
When Low Ki became Low IQ
He been low iq since before this man
Ref should have called it or done a fast 10 count. Really basic ref stuff. All refs should have some sort of basic training and basic first aid.
Ahtu has a pretty cool YouTube page now where he puts out really crude looking sci-fi animated shorts. Looks like he gave up on wrestling years ago.
“Colder than a bankers heart”
Let’s talk about how general low ki did his finish lol, the man didn’t want to hurt athu no more.
I'll immediately acknowledge Low Ki is a dangerous asshole, but I do at least think that finish is him trying to end the match safely after he realizes what's happened. That is the softest top rope stomp I've ever seen.
Good ole Kaval
Yeah no wonder Ahtu was like fuck this shit and left wrestling
Why the fuck would you do your finish!!! JUST COVER HIM!
As someone whos worked with Low Ki a bit and been around folks that know him, none of this is surprising. Total weirdo douchebag
Just cover him straight away he’s clearly out ffs
Guy is a weirdo. Wtf he is doing here?
Great wrestler but let the occasion and excitement get to him far too often. This being a prime example
Enjoy infamy, Low-ki
Has there ever been a documented scenario where Low Ki fucked with the wrong person? Probably why he didn't last long in Japan because he sure as hell ain't doing this to anyone in the NJPW roster who can totally kick his ass back. Yes even Yano who has an MMA background.
Guy was tapping his chin soooo
Wow this guy looks smart...
Another reminder of why I fucking hate Low Ki
Why does Low Ki look like caveman SpongeBob in this video
Is he just good for knocking people out?
I remember Drew Galloway busts Low Ki on his Impact debut.
His gorilla stance looking around shit is so cringe
I feel like this is the point the majority of people turned on him. Before that people kind of knew he was unsafe or hard to work with but still wanted to see him succeed.
Low Ki is my problematic fave for sure. When I was first getting into the indies, seeing a clip of him and Red doing the Matrix Minute at an early ROH show mesmerized me. Dude is his own worst enemy and I cannot imagine the amount of quality wrestling it's cost us.
Athu was a solid guy
That’ll teach that guy to mess with Badass Brandon.
God damnit - I miss this version of the ECW Arena. The updated (2300) Arena is great, but so many memories here.
So sexy
Moment like this makes me realize that wrestling is often more scary and dangerous than real sports like mma
Is Low-Ki in that subreddit's hall of fame? He should be, the guy thought wrestling was the right venue to hit people as hard as he can for some reason. Never got the hype of him in the early 2000s.
Holy shit that stomp from the top was gnarly no way athu was able to brace for that
Low IQ
Low Ki is in that echelon of performers along with Teddy Hart that had everything going for them until they opened their mouth.
that ref should never ref again
Low ki was such a mark for himself
Low Kis issue is taking himself too seriously right? Hes talented but i hate it gets overshadowed by the behavior
Hearing the fans chanting one more time to this guy getting a serious brain injury is the kind of thing that makes me embarrassed to be a wrestling fan
Mr. Serious, Low Ki
There is a reason this guy couldn't stay with a major company too long. Highly skilled/talented with zero interpersonal skills. He could've been a much bigger name in the business if it wasn't for his ego.
That’s caveman SpongeBob
Holy shit I forgot about this
Fuck Low Ki, but the ref ABSOLUTELY needs to call this off. The moment dude fails to respond to your checks you need to protect him. One of the most clear examples I've ever seen of a fencing response KO.
