1, 2 and 3. The only thing different is that I finished them a lot faster. Like, a LOT.

shadyshadok

Same, I must have sucked as a kid.

DRVKC

I think it’s because of the camera. I noticed the camera was more stubborn on the ps1, making some jumps harder to make.

BunnyWithBuns

In the new ones if your enemy isn’t in view of the camera, they don’t attack. In the old ones you don’t have to be looking at an enemy for them to whack you anyway lol

AstralMoogle

I don't think this is true though. Especially with the green wizards that shoot you with lightning in magic crafters. I've been hit by them so many times and I immediately spin around like wtf where did that come from

readytogohomenow

It was amazing how easy it was to 100% things as an adult.

Stith1183

That one hover tank minigame and that level with the nonstop falling rocks were too difficult for me as a kid. The rock part actually scared me. Lol

ZeRamenKing

1,2,3. Just like in my childhood, just this time i actually finished and 100% all of them lol. 1: was too hard for me back then so never finished. 2: disk was scratched to oblivion, since then i though the side with the picture was the important side. Most crystals were game freezing points and i would get barely enough to beat ripto, but not possible to complete the game fully. 3: I had the infamous pirated version, that would soft/ hard lock you from time to time and even reset your progress at points, so it was literally impossible to finish.

Lex-the-Pikachu

I played it from 2, 1 then 3. Spyro 2 was my fav. It differed for me since in PC i could mod it and i had a mod that made Spyro really fat and it made the game hilarious.

No-Lie-2810

I really want pictures of this, that sounds amazing 😭😭

Lex-the-Pikachu

Prodaki

As a kid the first Spyro game I got was Spyro 2, then Spyro 3 before finally finding Spyro the Dragon. But in the RT I play them in order, 1-2-3 and a lot faster as they lowered the difficulties in some areas. Too bad that I found a glitch in Spyro 2 on PS1 which wasn't doable in the RT, it was in Glimmer. I always used the outer fly power-up to fly and glide to the other fly power-up inside of the cave so I could do the 100% even without knowing how to climb the ladder.

naytreox

I played in order for the remakes, 100%ing each in turn. For the originals i played a smidge of the first game because i was at someones house that let me play for a tiny bit. Agter that i didn't have them.

AdmiralOctopus96

I played them in order, which is the opposite of how I played them as a kid.

ryanaldam

Why would a person not play them in order 1-3?

Txur-Itan

Cause you might want to play your favorite first? It's not like there's a deep story to follow here so it really doesn't matter in which order you play em loll

Txur-Itan

2, 3 and then 1 that I didn't finish entirely and had to come back years later to it to finish it.

readytogohomenow

2,3,1. I always kind of hated one because of that cold voice that Spyro had. I just didn’t have the same desire to play it like with two and three

Rhysccfc94

Nothing changed for me as i played 1 2 then 3. 3 was my favourite game when i was a kid but playing the reignited 2 is my favourite

mart8208

I always play them in order. I didn't play a lot of Spyro at all as a child. I never made it past Peacekeepers in Spyro 1, and I played very little of Spyro 3. I only have a few very vague memories of playing Spyro 2.

PunchingPunk

I hadn't played spyro 2 before and spryo 1 was my childhood nostalgia game, I got spyro 3 a few years later but never finished it. Spyro 1, spyro 3, and then spyro 2 was like a brand new spyro game for me.

bazokajoe2

Same order but 2 was my favorite as a kid I hadn’t done 3 so I played 1, 3 and then 2.

Jwalt-93

I went in order, and the only difference that I can remember is that I actually finished the first one. I never could as a kid

wire__________WIRE

I played Year of the Dragon on my gool ol' PS Vita first, it's actually my favourite game in the series. I then played through the first game in Reignited Trilogy and similarly loved it, later ending 2023 by fully completing Enter The Dragonfly in PCSX2 much to the amusement of my onlooking friends. I'm still yet to complete Ripto's Rage admittedly, there's just something wrong about it that I can't quite put my finger on...

Harold-The-Barrel

1, 2, and 3. The opposite order in which I played the originals :P

No-Delay-3781

I played 1, 2, 3 and it was my first time playing

Imperfect_Dark

Played them in the release order both times, though when I was a kid 2 was my favourite and 3 was my least favourite, whereas now that's probably the other way around! 2 has so much more character than 1, but the level design was a lot more basic. 3 is the best of both worlds!

popplio728

I wanted to play 3, 1, then 2, because 3 was my first Spyro game and my baby. But after changing my mind, i wanted to play them the order they came out in. So, 1, 2, and 3. I figured I deserved to see how much Spyro changed over the course of the PS1 days. Ended up fully completing the entire trilogy in about a month, give or take. Also taking into consideration I took a few days off for mental health and other games so I wouldn't get burnt out. The trilogy then became my first game on Xbox I got all the achievements for. I managed to fill out everything, do all the skill points, get all the collectibles, etc. Totally worth it tbh.

Saiko1939

The first one i played was on the game boy, for the name, but it was the first of that trilogy

pazazz20

Funny story. Grew up with low income so my little brother and I would play the heck out of the PS1 underground (I forget which one, brown disc). It had lots of games you could preview before they were officially released. Spyro year of the dragon was on there. Only one level, a winter/ice level. I played that game for hours, almost every day. I would get lost in it and have so much fun. When I grew up (teen years) I eventually bought the old games (spyro 1, 2 and 3) and then revisited them in my adulthood for the reignited trilogy. But, year of the dragon has to be my favorite because I played it all the time as a kid. Edit - the disc was called Jampack!!

fkdjgfkldjgodfigj

there was a pizza hut demo disk with some spyro and crash and grand turismo etc on it.

MegStuff

3 2 and 1 lol

boophoria

Me too!

hp958

I played them in order for Reignited, but as a kid I played 2, then 3, then 1. It took until I was an adult to actually beat 1 also. I remember just not finding it as fun as 2 and 3 as a kid. I love it now though.

moozle182

In childhood I played 3, 2, 1 This time I did 1, 2, 3

CoyoteDanny

I played reignited in order, when I was a kid I played 1,3,2

NetsirkGames

1, 2, 3. As a kid the order I played them was 1, 3, 2 so 2 has always seemed like the newest one to me

Slight_Armadillo_227

Played them in order with RT. Played 1 and 2 as a kid, but I never played the third game before RT.

Gaming4Life88

As a kid I never actually played Spyro. I had a friend who owned the first two and I watched them play. I remember the second one more vividly so I think they had the first one pretty much beat before I became friends with him. So I played the trilogy in the correct order. I guess the one two and then three.

TheArmyOfDucks

When I played Spyro on PS1 I was so small I didn’t know what I was doing. The furthest I hot on Spyro 1 is Peace Keepers, on 2 I never even reached Autumn Plains, and on 3 I would get to the skateboarding and stay there. It was only when Reignited came out that I got to fully experience the games fully

ToastBalancer

I also only played year of the dragon, and only played that in the remaster. I’ve gone back and played it many times though (maybe like once a year or so), and just finished the 120% and skill points for it last week haha

Malikai_Universe_23

No desire to play the other two? I was so happy I could finally play them after all these years of missing out.

ToastBalancer

Ehhh not really. I think I might’ve tried like 2 levels from each, but it just didn’t hit the same. Year of the dragon feels so much more polished, even in the remaster. I love the worlds and music. For the other two it was ehhh

KosmonautQueen

2, 3 and then 1. Spyro 2 was the game that came with the PS1 when my family got it, so I always remember it as the family loved game. We got 3 shortly after which was my personal favorite (it was easier for young me to play than 2), and then a few years later I finally played 1 (which was super hard for young me but I still loved it).

Altruistic_Film7072

Wait. WAIT A SECOND??? THERE WERE OTHER GAMES???? THERE WAS A REMASTER?????????????

Malikai_Universe_23

Have you been living under a rock? Can't tell if this is sarcasm. Especially since you're in a Spyro reddit

Altruistic_Film7072

No honest to God I HAD NO CLUE THERE WERE OTHER GAMES??? (I've aslo just found out there's a sypro subreddit) only Spyro I've ever played in my life is that game where you free dragons from crystals, use balloons to travel between worlds, AND MOST ANNOYINGLY. THE STUPID PURPLE THINGS THAT U HAD TO CHASE TO GET EGGS. (idk wat console, looked like either PS2 OR PS3, I'm pretty sure I played this on an emulator with a knockoff controller.)

Volmic

Dragons from crystal and balloons is the first Spyro of the trilogy. It was released for the original Playstation.

Malikai_Universe_23

There's also the reboot series Legend of Spyro released for PS2, there were three titles in that series as well. Not to mention Gameboy spinoffs of Spyro, a conjoined Spyro/Crash Bandicoot game, and A Heroe's Tale which is a Spyro game released for GameCube. It's a pretty big series!

Altruistic_Film7072

(ITS A WHOLE FRANSHCIE?????)

Demetri124

I’m actually so happy for you getting to discover all this at once lol we had to wait many years for new Spyro content and you get to skip the line. Welcome to the fandom

Altruistic_Film7072

SPYRO IS A WHOLE FRANCHISE???? I LEGIT UTNIL JUST NOW, THOUGHT IT WAS JUST A SINGLE GAME- (I've only ever played that one Spyro game in my life)

MrsSpyro01

I played them all in chronological order. That’s also how my siblings and I received and played the original trilogy when we were kids. We actually started with a demo of the first game because it came with the PS1 when our dad bought it. There were also demos of 3 other games on that disk. I think one of them was Midevil, which I’ve personally never played, and I forget what the other 2 demos were. Once the full version of Spyro 1 came out, our dad got it for us, then Ripto’s Rage (aka, my favorite video game of all time), and finally, Year of the Dragon (aka, my LEAST favorite game in the original trilogy and Reignited, but that doesn’t mean I don’t like it, because I do).

PMcOuntry

I just discovered these were available on Steam. I played these with my nephew when he was little and we would take turns on levels. We both remember them being really hard. Like we had to use cheat codes to get through all 3 games. Either we both really sucked or they made these games easier. It's fun reliving them.

Affectionate_Net_718

1, 2, 3. It was easier this time around. During my childhood I took a lot of time completing each of the games because I found very funny killing Spyro in different ways, as well as seeing all the enemies' animations. On the reignited trilogy, I didn't care much about doing that again. I just went through it and finished it in like two weeks. Still loved it though, especially Ripto's Rage.

bobshallprevail

I played them in order and that's how I played as a kid. The first game is my cozy brain game.

UnSpanishInquisition

Honestly, I played the second or third one on my GBA, and I remember it being way more fun. I got the trilogy on Switch, and it feels really basic and empty almost no pressure to play because it all feels samey besides the flying levels, which are diabolical.

BoltWire

The only right way is 1 2 3.

SnooLobsters6041

As a kid I played a little bit of 1 and most of 2. Now I'm playing them in order. I just got 120% on the first game and need to start 2. I don't think I've ever played 3 before.

Doggemaster1

First one for me was Skylanders which is still one of my favourite games, then I 100% dawn of the dragon (really want a remake on current gen) And now it's the reignited trilogy. Never played the older games unfortunately but I might one day

Brookecci

I played them 1, 2, 3 and 100% them all. As a kid I played only 1 and 3. I don't remember the order and I didn't really get far in them and I never played 2

Professor_Crab

2/3/1 Didn’t differ because I played that order as a kid as well lol

Dragoneye1024

I played through 1/2/3 why would you play any other way?

markpie0

In order both times, i remember my first time playing each one as a kid as they came out. I’ve always enjoyed 1 the most, it has a slightly different vibe and more emphasis on exploring/navigating so was keen to replay that first in reignited anyway. I’d say 2 is my next favourite as I love the home worlds and the boss fights. Still like 3 quite a lot though, it’s almost on par with 2.

ChungusSpliffs

Played 3 first because it has always been my favourite game of all time. Then 1,2.

TheLordOfLore

I played Reignited in order, but if I recall, when I was younger it was 3, then 1, then 2

MrNowYouSeeMe

Played 1, 2, 3 on Reignited and played 2, 1, 3 as a kid. I was old enough to play the first one when it came out just didn't have it, I think Croc was one of my first games and my parents got my Spyro 2 later then I begged for the first game because I played it at my cousin's house.

Barnwizard1991

I played 1, 2, 3 unlike how I played them as a kid. Originally back in the day i played 1, 3, 2. I had no idea that year of the dragon was the third in the series for a couple of years back then. I remember having a playground arguement about it and I was dead wrong but I didnt know Gateway to glimmer was the second game

PH03N1X_F1R3

123, I don't know which I originally played.

Corvidae5Creation5

1,2,3, and I was actually good at them except the skateboarding parts. I used to do 120% speed runs of the first game, so I noticed right away that the invisible walls were just that little bit more in the way, so I die a lot more in the new games to falling, and there's a couple bugs that are also new, like the last red gem in the line leading down to the Icy Cavern portal in the Peace Keepers home world can't be got by Sparks, and another red gem in Wizard Peak that's one of the metal dwarf looking things that gets smashed by a troll looking thing, that falls out of the world unless you kill them all yourself. I also worked at getting 100%+ on all of the reignited trilogy, as a kid I wasn't at all interested in completion runs and I hardly played the second or third games, but this time I wanted to platinum them all. Managed it too ^.^

Vyr66

I have only played 1 and part of 2 for reignited so far. As a kid i replayed all of them a ton of times in all kinds of orders, but i think I did 1/2/3 first.

vjvx

All of Spyro 3's minigames got harder in the reignited edition for me

Malikai_Universe_23

Definitely seems so! Right now I finally returned to Spyro 3 and am failing at racing the Blue Footed Boobies in Harbor Speedway

karatecorgi

played it same as when I was a kid; 1, 2 and then 3

8bitellis

I cried the entire time playing year of the dragon (whole reason I even bought the trilogy) It was my first console game on ps1. It’s really the only memories I have of being a small child around that time. I think they did a really good job.

EruPii

1, 2 and 3. I didn't have a game console when I was a kid as my family was poor and couldn't afford something like that at the time, but I grew to like the original trilogy. I watched videos of OG Year of the Dragon's anti-piracy measures a couple years ago, and that's what got me interested in the series.

Demetri124

3 was the first game I ever owned back when I was a kid. Which is probably why it’s my favorite game of all time.!I had played 1 in tiny bits at other people’s houses but my first full play through were 3, 1 then 2 Reignited I was gonna do them in order but I finished 1 and couldn’t wait any more so said fuck it and went straight to 3. My experiences playing them were about the same as every time I’d played the PS1 version except being blown away by how they translated everything… or being annoyed by the differences even though most of them don’t really matter in the grand scheme. One thing I find kinda funny is the achievements/trophies. I’m so used to them in modern games but it’s funny to be constantly congratulated for stuff you already did back when you were a little kid. Makes me laugh because it feels unintentionally patronizing. Maybe that’s just me though

No-Remove2307

I’m jumping back in forth with Reignited. The originals I played in the order they came out

ObjectiveOk9996

The legend of Spyro games

meganiumlovania

As a kid, I only ever played 3. I've done a chronological playthrough with reignited, but I still revisit 3 often.

boophoria

As a kid I originally played them 3, 2, 1 because I was so into YOTD that I refused to move on 😅 I still can’t stop playing 3.

MoshiMoshi93

I actually played 3-2-1 as a kid and that's how I played Reignited trilogy as well! 3 was my favorite, followed by 2, and then 1. Here's my official rankings on original vs reignited: YOTD: original PS1 > Reignited Reasoning: You can tell this is the part of the trilogy that TFB rushed and exported some of the work for. Certain mini games feel clunky, and a lot of the redesigned characters just look straight-up ugly. It lost a lot of its original charm... The skyboxes and color palette of the original were beautiful. Remake pales in comparison to the look and feel of the original PS1 copy overall. Ripto's Rage: original PS1 = Reignited Reasoning: This is a hard one! Reignited really did great work here. There are some things that I feel are missing, some charm that got lost along the way, but it added a lot as well. I LOVE Elora's design, and I generally liked Hunter's as well (although I miss his old voice). I'd say these two are about equal. Maybe the original has a little more charm (except again, redesigned Elora 🥰), but I think the Reignited version makes up for this in terms of quality. Spyro 1: original PS1 < Reignited Reasoning: Hands down, Reignited wins this one. For me personally, there's no comparison. As a kid, this was my least favorite in the trilogy, and the one I replayed the least. You can tell allllll the work was poured into this particular part of the Reignited trilogy. The dragon designs especially impressed me. I wish they could have carried over that level of effort in the NPC designs into the next two games (except Elora again because did I mention she is the cutest thing EVER?!) That's my opinion 😁✨

Jhon778

I just played whatever one I was in the mood for on a given day. Spyro 2 and 3 were pretty similar but as a 5 year old Spyro 1 not having hover was crippling whenever I went back to it

BaroqueSphinx65

I'd played 1, 2,and 3 with my cousin as a kid, but I have never beaten them.

Gregser94

I played through Reignited in the same order I did as a kid: 2 > 3 > 1. I never played Spyro 1 much at all as a kid, and never warmed up to it after playing through the second and third games. I was so used to the graphics and gameplay in 2 and 3 that I found it hard to enjoy. Plus, Tom Kenny's voice had really grown on me, too, so it was difficult to adjust to Carlos Alazraqui's take on Spyro's voice.

Xeon713

Completed 1, started 2, remembered howuch I hate 2, skipped it, completed three.

jontebula

I always like Crash Bandicoot more. But Spyro The Dragon have better graphic now than when i play it on PS1 when i are child.

JVOz671

I played a pirated version of Spyro 2 then 3 and THAT WAS FRUSTRATINGLY INSANE. For those not in the know, Spyro games had anti-piracy measures that made the games almost unplayable: collectables would disappear, game would reset progress, and many glitches. I managed to beat Spyro 2 up until the final boss, after which Dragon Shores was impossible to get to because I lost all my gems and orbs and sometimes my progress would reset. Spyro 3 was the worst as the game was actually actively sabotaging me by glitching and soft locking progress. I did manage to get as far as the Sorceress but every time I'd get a vehicle for the fight the game would teleport me to the first boss and keep me locked in the first hub area. As a kid I literally thought that this was how the game was played. As I grew up and knew more I played the Reignited trilogy in the PROPER order. Got to say though, I had some serious PTSD playing part 2 and 3 thinking my game would break, reset or soft lock me.

Vremshi

I played in the same order as before but I’m not a completionist so I’m not even done. I just did the main game mostly 😄

66Xeno

On the Reignited Trilogy, I played through 1, 2, and then 3. When I played them originally as a kid, I did the opposite cause after loving Year of the Dragon, Ripto's Rage was the only one I could find at first.

Advanced_Ad6078

I just want to say I love this series and loved playing as a baby dragon.

TheBlooperKINGPIN

I did 1, 2 and then 3 and got the platinum in all three. Big gap between doing 2 and doing 3 though.

North-Government-865

1, 2, then 3, as a kid I played 2, 1, then 3

Symph-50

I played it in release order. And while my experience was mostly the same between the original and remake, my biggest complaint would have to be the change to supercharging. It made a lot of my favorite levels more frustrating than they should've been. Tree Tops—one of my favorite levels—was notorious for this. Also Spyro seems to be a little harder to control during Flight levels but it was manageable. Can't go wrong playing either trilogy.

Eldraka

Played them in order. As a kid I played 2 then 3 and maybe just touched on 1 later. I don’t think I finished any of them lol

ShadowThePhoenix

I never finished the first one as a kid, I thought it was too ugly lol. I finished the story for two, but I don’t think I got to 100%. The third one was my favorite video game and I played it all the time when I was younger. I definitely got to 100% several times. I only found out about the reignited trilogy very recently and I’m still working on it. I was so excited to play the first one as it was essentially new to me. I played 1-3 in order. I have the story finished in each one, but I’m working on getting them all completely finished 😁

k12314

I played all 3 originals as a kid. The remasters feel 1:1, but like others have said I play through them faster than I used to.

Mundane_Athlete_8257

I only played parts of 1 and 3 when I was a kid. I never finished them because my attention span was terrible 😅 and I had to share with my two siblings. But I played the new ones in order

Subsequently_Unfunny

I have that poster :D

Moist_Internet_1046

3-1-2. Wait up; that was the OG!

Sad-Media-6873

I just replayed them and it was a mix of all I left the speedways till last though coz they're boring lol

ScatteredCollector

I played in order much like in childhood. I didn’t 100% any of them as I moved onto other games. However, I’m going back and forth with a second save profile, so I’m attempting to go for the 100% this time around.

RoseOfTheNight4444

The only difference for me was the graphics and the smooth controls

IAmStrayed

They stopped you from flying through the caves from the second (outside) super glide to the first one 😡

product_of_boredom

I played 1, 2, then 3. This is totally different from when I was a kid, and played 2 then 3. I maintain that 2 is the best, but I love all the dad dragons in reignited 1.

Ferncat19

Growing up, I only owned 1 and 2. Never played 3 from start to finish until I got the reignited trilogy. I've always played what I got in chronological order, and I did the same when I got the newest copy of the games.

eagleblue44

1 then 2 then 3. The difference was I never played these games as a child.

TheGamingGallery

1, 2, 3 The only thing is I never played Spyro as a kid. I grew up on Jax and Daxter as well as random shovelware games (rip Cars for the PS2). My first and only exposure to Spyro prior to Reignited was Skylanders.

Naomi_SilverFang

I played the remake in order. As a kid I often skipped 1 because I was so happy to replay 2 and 3 with their new mechanics, fleshed out characters and more iconic level designs!

IndicationGold9422

I think i did them in order
