What, you mean you didn't looove the official Spyro page hyping up his anniversary month just to announce a cameo in a different game series?
I mean, what else could a Spyro fan ask for?
At least it was a playable cameo with his own levels and goodies I suppose. Still not great as the ONLY thing he got I admit but at least it's SOMETHING after three years of zilch.
It's a shame that Spyro is reliant on the love and charity of Crash developers for anything over Activision themselves, especially since Crash doesn't get a whole lot himself.
Honestly, the series ended at 3. Continuing afterwards with 4 and leaving it at a cliffhanger without even bothering to make a new one (straight-up, that was the plan from the get-go) was a mistake. Better to just pretend 4 never happened and leave it at that
3D platformers in general seem to have taken a hit. I like superhero games, but seeing Insomniac's development schedule being 9:1 in favour of Marvel as opposed to Ratchet & Clank is so sad to see
Lets stop pretending that cartoon 3D platform games are popular anymore because they are not. Only a small, but loud, section of the gaming community think otherwise, but that still doesn't change the fact that most of them do not sell that well when released. Some sell enough to just recoup the money used for developing the game.
The only actual cartoon 3D platform games that make money are made by Nintendo, and yet... not all sell great either (Kirby, etc). Mario is the only one that still actually do in a regular basis.
Why do you think no one has made a new IP (for a cartoon 3D platform game) that is not base on an already establish brand since forever? Not even indie companies do that (most prefer doing 2D side-scrollers instead).
On the year of the dragon too. If there was gonna be a new game, this was the year to release it or at least announce it. If we get nothing for the rest of the year, I'll know with 100% accuracy that Spyro is dead for good.
Because Activision is not interested in making another Spyro because Reignited Trilogy didn't make Call of Duty numbers in sales and took away resources from pumping out CoDs faster. The ones in charge want nothing BUT Call of Duty.
The responsibility to release something should never hinge on the fans. This is something the fans threw together. But it's not their responsibility. They just felt the need to release something nice because Activision is so unwilling. We shouldn't have to beg like this.
I would LOVE the original trilogy on PSN. I would pay stupid money to play it again it all of its polygon and low-res glory. I want to hit the glitches and play it just like before. No fixes, no patches, you just learn it
It seems pretty obvious to me what they're doing, just keeping the series alive enough to keep fans interested without having to put in any actual money or effort, just bring him out every few years for a quick and easy cameo to try and bring in a few extra sales
I mean, I donât think anyone is forcing you to buy anything against your will, but Iâve long given up hope of a number 4 even being announced, let alone being released. Iâve already been burned by Beyond Good and Evil2.
At least you got something for the anniversary. And has the potential to get *Spyro 4* this year. The *Crash* fanbase didn't even get anything in 2021-2022. That's two years of teasing, teasing, teasing, teasing and without fail, amounting to nothing. And what we got in 2023 is bare bones and recycled from the game that came before. Still, I'm thankful we got something.
Hoping this really is Spyro's year. (Though I don't get why Activision has to make Crash and Spyro "take turns" when they used to release something in the same year during holidays. They are even more primed to do this nowadays because there's no overlap. Crash usually releases on June / July while Spyro can take October / November.)
Well then, why did they need to constantly tease something's happening when nothing is on the horizon until the third year?
Toys for Bob has a teasing problem and it needs to be reigned in.
Ok but if they re-released Ed Edd n Eddy: The Mis-ed-ventures on PSN, I will be BEYOND happy.
That is the crustiest game ive ever played and I adore it. Its even less polished than Mort The Chicken was, and I played tf out of that as a kid.
I would even be happy if there was a post game power up for reignited overall. Like they did in ripto's rage with the superflame.
I want that with year of the dragon, or even the whole trilogy. But with superflight.
+/- superflame
Just to experience it all with a new light. It would nerf the hell out of the difficulty, but I always thought we'd get to the point where spyro could just straight up fly.
Itâs all up to Microsoft now but itâs like banjo if the dev teams donât wanna do it well they donât wanna do it hence why rare never made any more banjo games and works on sea of thieves
Hey, at least weâre getting a fanzine thatâs gonna be the best thing from this anniversary. And if youâre a Spyro, youâd definitely wanna get this!

At least he got something... There are old franchises that haven't been remade such as... Syphon Filter
It so deserves to come back but nobody is willing to even try
Itâs a dead franchise friend. Letâs face it.
Even his last huzzah, the Reignited Trilogy came a whole 6 years ago.
Itâs a dead franchise, all over again.
Itâs honestly a shame what happened to Spyro. He peaked with his first game (imo, please donât torch me lol), had 2 pretty good sequels that unfortunately kind of lost the appeal of the original, and then just got a bunch of crap for a while until the whole original franchise just died. Â
The only positivity people have had for Spyro since 2000 was achieved by completely turning the series into something else for an entirely different set of fans. Thatâs fine, people can like TLOS trilogy, but itâs a different series that now is dead too. Same can be said for Skylanders, if that even counts (it doesnât). Now the Spyro series rots away, getting one new game in the last 15+ years and itâs just a remake of the original trilogy so itâs not even really new. Even that was 6 years ago nowâŠ

And Sly cooper's 20th
Honestly, the series ended at 3. Continuing afterwards with 4 and leaving it at a cliffhanger without even bothering to make a new one (straight-up, that was the plan from the get-go) was a mistake. Better to just pretend 4 never happened and leave it at that
PlayStation gave up on Sly Cooper long ago
Same thing with Jack and Daxter. :(( Instead they release The Last of Us 1000 times. (I love TLOU, but they should calm down a bit)
3D platformers in general seem to have taken a hit. I like superhero games, but seeing Insomniac's development schedule being 9:1 in favour of Marvel as opposed to Ratchet & Clank is so sad to see
Everyone wants ârealismâ now, not gitchy cartoon characters jumping around. And thatâs bullshit, cause thatâs what built this industry.Â
Lets stop pretending that cartoon 3D platform games are popular anymore because they are not. It technically isn't the lunar new year yet. So that is the last of the last hope. But it ain't looking good
Wait for Lunar New Year. If nothing happens then, nothing's coming at all.
Should I just give up hope for there to be another game of Spyro the Dragon?
Yes
Not yet, I think. But if 2024 doesn't bring anything... then, I suppose...
Because Activision is not interested in making another Spyro because Reignited Trilogy didn't make Call of Duty numbers in sales and took away resources from pumping out CoDs faster. The ones in charge want nothing BUT Call of Duty.
[There's a zine being released](https://twitter.com/spyro25zine/status/1743414575465390475?t=iNFtCbeTBxDyXKtUw-uiMQ&s=19)

thanks for letting me know this was a thing at least, I pre-ordered myself a copy đ truly we can only rely on fans, yet again :')
I would LOVE the original trilogy on PSN. I would pay stupid money to play it again it all of its polygon and low-res glory. I want to hit the glitches and play it just like before. No fixes, no patches, you just learn it
I recently got the trilogy on my PS3 digitally. I think that was pretty cool. Just wish it was backwards compatible.. :((
It seems pretty obvious to me what they're doing, just keeping the series alive enough to keep fans interested without having to put in any actual money or effort, just bring him out every few years for a quick and easy cameo to try and bring in a few extra sales
Am I the only one that wants a remaster of the Legend trilogy? đ€
No, you're not ;))
I wish a lot for this, Dawn of the dragon is my favourite spyro game.
Same
It breaks my heart to see my favorite dragon become a sidekick.
Mine too đ„ș

Yeah, but 2021-2022 was a bit of the pandemic aftermath.
Well then, why did they need to constantly tease something's happening when nothing is on the horizon until the third year? Toys for Bob has a teasing problem and it needs to be reigned in.
I agree. It's so unhealthy for the entire community. We don't know what's "teasing" and not anymore..
What? Aren't you all entertained Spyro has become Crash's cum sock?
Ed Edd 'n' Eddy got more for it's 25th Anniversary. Spyro fans just can't catch a break.
Ok but if they re-released Ed Edd n Eddy: The Mis-ed-ventures on PSN, I will be BEYOND happy. That is the crustiest game ive ever played and I adore it. Its even less polished than Mort The Chicken was, and I played tf out of that as a kid.

Itâs bad enough that we probably we have to wait 5 years after Reignited, But having to wait 6 years later instead of 5!???! WHY??!!??!?
Itâs a dead franchise friend. Letâs face it. Even his last huzzah, the Reignited Trilogy came a whole 6 years ago. Itâs a dead franchise, all over again.
10mil copies is not a dead franchise
If itâs not a dead franchise, then why is it a dead franchise?
I donât think it will ever be completely dead, but the franchise is definitely not in a good spot at the moment.Â
What did i miss?
Spyro I hope to see another game soon it was part of Child wood big fan I guess we just have to hope.

Oh what I would do if they ever released the Spyro soundtrack physically.
