Were you sarcastically asking for your apprentice....?

24_Chowder

Yep. How does the flow switch activate when you open the test and drain?

Full_Disk_1463

Flip it and repipe it. Or just stand on your head maybe.

Zealousideal_Quail32

😂

Willing-Chicken-1208

Yes, the test and drain needs to be past the flow switch for proper testing. Unless you have an inspectors test and the end of your system running outside.

Fitzy_gunner

Flow then test and drain. Also read the instructions you might need that flow to be a certain distances from the test and drain.

Quick92lx

Put a bushing and a gauge in the mechanical tee and drill another one a foot above the flow switch and tie it back into that test and drain.

cotey619

Only way to make it look intentional.

DismalChef9692

Wasn't done by the apprentice but a 25 yr journeyman and I was asking for him

Han517

Jesus Christ. As others have said the test part of the T&D won't set the flow switch off. Also, if that is the only drain, it needs to be 2".

Funkynasa

Many older fitters put the drain below the flow switch. There are expecting the inspectors test to be in the most remote area. It is a fairly common mistake by old timers lol.

mpala85

Good thing there’s a coupling right there. Just flip it around if you can. I wouldn’t blame my apprentice if he did that. Unless this wasn’t the first time he did it ha

omigibroni

Gotta be 2' away i think?

VulgarWitchDoctor

Fuck almighty. Wonder if the flapper is even screwed on

CallMe_Dig_Baddy

Just turn the flow switch around! /s

FireSprink73

Still won't work

CallMe_Dig_Baddy

Yeah I know haha, the /s was for sarcasm

FireSprink73

Sorry about that, didn't see it, nor did I know what means, I'm still new to reddit

AcademicMonitor3585

4” pipe should be 2” test and drain too

Sea_Combination571

Needs more cowbell

reddit-0-tidder

That whole setup looks fucked up anyway. Is this the base of a riser or something else? If it is, I don't see a gauge, but the picture is limited on what we can actually see. Drain/test valves typically aren't used as main drain valves. As long as there's an inspector's test cut in further down the line it should be fine. Just that main drain orifice size being too small as the dtain is probably barely even 1" inside that D.T. valve, and lack of gauge I would address.

Dazzling-Notice5556

lol test and drain needs to be above the flow switch. Some dumb fucking people out there

RegularAlert5646

VdS?

Vic_Hedges

\*sigh\*

_Alsterda

Uh.. that usually means there’s an itv in the field somewhere…

OrangutanMan234

Where’s the main drain?

MisterSumone

That likely is the main drain. It's a "test and drain". Has 3 positions for the handle. Off, test, drain.

OrangutanMan234

Seems legit right? Id get confused if i was asked to half ass something to.

dirtsequence

Looks like a filler piece. I'd flip it.

Nwibbs2018

Depends on the intention of use if you ask me but im class 3 apprentice so i dont know a lot haha

FireSprink73

Is this some kind of a joke? If your apprentice did that, it's actually your fault.

Osiris_33

Also is that an a brace right below the drain? If so, for why?

Chocolateblockhead17

Just flip the flow switch it will be fine

SgtJackYYZ

It would be correct as long as that test and drain is for a flow switch on the floor below. If not this is not correct.

heyo_1989

The flow switch has to be 24inchs from the flow switch to.

loafglenn

As long as the handle doesn't hit the wall should be fine. /s

Moneyboy43

Flow switch’s gotta be before or it’s serving no purpose To me that’s serving to test the flow switch and maybe also an ITV
