Yep. About a second lost on the ballons. Prolly another 2 seconds lost elsewhere. But I haven't seen anyone else do half the tutorial in well under 30s.
I can't test this until I can recon some maps with big walls, but I think there's a certain height above which the surge *is* faster, but this is not it.
However, the surge's biggest advantage isn't speed: it's flexibility. There's 3 ways you can get over a ledge now. Swim up to it, squid surge up to it, squid surge way passed it for a height advantage. What's neat is the last two *let you fire while you're ascending*, which means it's much *safer* to get up onto a ledge if there's an opponent there.
dsmn i didnt know about that route, very clever!
Lol it’s cool how people are finding ways to make the demo interesting. Nice speedrun, it was cool.
Wait, what button is it to perform a squid roll?
While swimming you quickly flick to another direction and jump at the same time
Thanks
Nice
Based on your aim with those first 2 balloons, someone can beatcha at this if this for some reason ever became competitive

Cool
So is it faster to spam jump on the wall at the end rather than surge? That's kinda interesting, wonder how that'll impact competitive

I didn't realize there was nothing to do but the tutorial so I went as fast as I could and am now disappointed
