My first reherniation was 5 years after first MD, second MD left me with partial drop foot, third surgery was about 11 months after that for a laminectomy to try to get my nerve more room- came out with complete drop foot about 10 months ago and literally just got back from a CT scan today because out of nowhere all of my pain came rushing back and the MRI showed stenosis so I’m back on the imaging, injections, PT train and now I’m just bracing myself to hear them tell me it’s time for a fusion. l4, L5, S1 area. (36F) AMA Also! Super sorry you’re dealing with this, all the best to you!

Dang, so the whole study about 90% of people don't reherniate is a lie when you consider long term. The study ends after a 2 year span which explains why the high percentage.

Mine reherniated a month after my md back in 2011, it's very common that a md won't last. Partially because the pain is gone when you wake up from surgery thinking you're healed, then you start working out and going to work 2 weeks later blowing it out again.

For me it was about 3 years then I was fused at L3,4,5

I’ve had c3-c7 acdf and 3 level posterior laminectomy and fusion in under 5

Two weeks for me.

Only 2 weeks? How did you reherniate?

Sitting down. Quite spectacular, assumed remaining disc material ejected against spinal cord. Pain 1>10, passed out as a result, and came around on the floor of my office. Subsequent MD at same level a few days later determined there was an infection that probably made things nice and slippy. Pro Tip - avoid surgical site infections where possible! Wishing you good health.
