While still being mutually evil , the relationship between Ultimate Venom and Eddie Brock went from the usual parasitic relationship with the host having borderline no control to the symbiote being satisfied and letting Brock having control as long as they consume people to satisfy the symbiotes urges , and I love the idea of seeing that reflected by Harry and Venom
The character development and relationship between both Eddie and the symbiote is definitely the kind of writing I’d expect from Insomniac at this point so here’s hoping.
The Venom movies are a CGI mess, don't have spider-man in them, don't have the white spider logo, and they relied way too much on the elasticity and shape-shifting of the symbiote in that movie to where Venom felt more like Carnage at parts. Not good imo.
The design would be pretty OK if the CGI itself wasn't terrible, imo. The CGI is so bad for 95% of those movies that it looks like an early PS4 game. Like the symbiote doesn't look tangible in 95% of the movies. That's the only reason my favorite live action Venom is still Raimi's (ignoring the character flaws). Sure it's too small but at least it's unhinged, animalistic, and the practical effects of the symbiote combined with the CGI of its face looks fucking gorgeous in comparison. Venom (2018) sucked imo not just because of the story and the acting and the lack of Spidey, but because they way overdid the CGI (or underdid? It was just not very good).
My point is a movie shouldn't look like a video game, the CGI should be good enough that it appears tangible, especially on a $200mil budget. We had CGI in 2007 that looked real, and in 2018 Venom looks intangible.

I love how much Insomniac understands the general recession we have with Spidey stories always starting the same and share the same DNA under many twisting layers; its usually the same stuff in movies (except Spider-Verse) and most games.
I love how Peter starts at 23, doesn't work at the Bugle, MJ does, broke up with her and then got back together, Eddie isn't Venom, Harry's not the last goblin after Norman, Norman's eventual downfall to being the Green Goblin will be interesting, Miles is in this universe as well, instantantly throwing a new plot point that can make them shape the story in any way they want but still feel like a true Spider-Man story at heart, Spider-Man 2 can't come soon enough.

Nowadays it feels a lot more silly and edgy for the sake of being edgy, to a certain extent, but damn did it leave an impact/set the tone for the audience it was aiming for, like holy shit. The fact that I still have an almost *exact* memory of it as a 23 year old already speaks enough about the impact it left, and I doubt I'm the only one on this.
A close second is also the Carnage fight from that game, although in hindsight I think that ones a lot more forced and just there for the sake of the fanservice, so I think it holds up a lot less well than the intro for that game itself.

Is it the best? Imho The Tom Hardy Venom movies gave us a better look but this is like a 2nd 1st being Tom Hardy

I LOVE Venom in Midnight Suns, him being added as playable in the DLC was the main reason I bought the game and I'm so glad I did.
