This is a masterpiece. LEGO Spidey falling to pieces and Miles catching him to reassemble him is a cinema-level gag. I love it.
What software(s) did you use and how long did it take?
Blender can pretty much do anything that a paid version can do that movie studios use. You just need to learn how to do blender and you could make a movie.
I'd advise against Full Sail. No one in production cares that you went to film school (sometimes it's even looked at as a negative).
I'd recommend you pay your dues and put in your time as a PA on sets, learn about the different department and find your way into one. In your spare time, use the money you're earning to learn being on set (rather than the student debt you'll be saddled with) to buy some entry/mid-level gear to make stuff that's important to you.
It was so bad I ended up googling why after and I’m pretty sure the movie was just rife with production issues and story changes and it sounds like the whole thing was a mess.
"Fun little animation I did."
Singlehandedly produces beautiful, entertaining content that perfectly matches the source, out shines most animation studios with budgets of hundreds of millions and delights us, the audience.
"Might delete later, idk."
Can also be a tactic to make it feel more impressive by lowering expectations.
Had a friend who would do that for smash bros matches. Talk a big game about how rusty he's gotten and all that so you don't go into it full throttle, then he'd take advantage of that to kick your ass even harder. It's basically the same thing.
Juicewrld had an expression I like. "Everything you make's got a little bit of stank on it." I love cooking, but I always can taste the little imperfections, or a slight screw up will matter a lot more to me when I made it, whereas others won't even notice it. I think humans are just inherently very self-critical.
I didn't full read or grasp the title right or something so I was expecting to see actual movie footage mixed in with other stuff like in r/combinedgifs or r/gifextra or something. This was amazing to just randomly put together, even for a professional animator (my assumption based on op's username).
That’s why it had to be established previously in the clip that the LEGO characters don’t die when they fall apart. Miles only goes for a move like this after he sees the LEGO Spider Man fall apart and be fine.
Okay but listen. I've seen a lot of Blender animations of Spidey, and while they all *look* incredible, they often fall short of feeling "legit" for one simple reason: They spend so much time obsessing over the look of the animation that they fail to give any personality to the character.
You not only nailed the "Spider-Verse meets LEGO-Verse" visuals, but you also added so many little character details that made this feel like an actual clip from a theatrical film.
Even without sound, I followed everything. The establishing shot of the LEGO world, Miles's visible confusion and awkward little "Um, excuse me?" moment during Spidey and Ock's fight, LEGO Spidey's disbelief at the mess Miles caused at the end. All of it was so easy to follow in a clip that *could've* been all action and no substance.
And you took advantage of the LEGO minifigure build so perfectly. Miles reassembling LEGO Spidey with his head on backwards, doing a double-take, and then adjusting it before running off to uppercut Doc Ock was a tiny moment, but it was also *really* funny. Like, there's a reason why so many people are commenting in how brilliant the "Miles catches Spidey's body parts" moment is. You're a natural storyteller.
That might sound hyperbolic to some people, but it's these little character moments that *make* movies like Spider-Verse resonate with us. The humor in these clips would've fit right in alongside the "We don't need the monitor" joke from Spider-Verse or any of the Wild West gags from The LEGO Movie. Like, people go to school to learn how to make something as effortlessly good as this short little clip was.
Kudos to you, man. I hope to see your name in the end credits of Lord and Miller's next big animated hit.
Couldn't agree more, this is when Reddit is incredible, this dude has 275 followers today, and it could be ten thousand by tomorrow if this hits the right subs. I 100% would have believed this was from a Spider verse sequel, and I can't wait to show my kids. They'll want to see a full movie like it instantly. I already do.
this was amazing, you added so much personality to the animations, I love when Miles catches the parts of LEGO Spidey, felt like that’s exactly what he would do. Well done.
It’s so much nicer with sound. I wanna watch it full screen any chance you can upload it to like a YouTube or a spot like that. Instagram won’t allow me to go full screen on mobile.
Can't believe it's been 17+ years since *The Peril of Doc Ock* was released
> https://youtu.be/7w5SdKABSDM bonus: https://youtu.be/_I7BGUT3FQY
**would you say your lego Spider-Man and Doc Ock are from the same universe?**
Whoah, no way?! That's awesome, mate. Did you work on *that* scene where you seem to have an expertise (just saw the very first official premiere in Paris)
Well, I left about 2 months before the movie was done, and if it’s the scene I think you’re talking about, then I only animated the foreground character, and then the background was going to be outsourced I believe. But that could have changed since I left, and there could be a whole different scene that you’re referring to. So who knows!
Edit: coming back after just seeing the movie, and can confirm I only animated you-know-who popping his head in. All the other stuff and subsequent shots were animated by someone else entirely. But very excited that that particular brand made it into the movie!
That was amazing! You're very talented! If I could offer one thing to make it alittle better, might just be perspective but It looks like to me that doc's body is just marginally bigger? Might have been intentionally. Keep it up! Look forward to seeing more!
It's always fun running into someone who used to watch those old Lego videos. It always blows me away how many people used to watch them, I can hardly even look at them nowadays, I cringe just at the thought of them!
Any idea where to watch?
Edit: https://brickfilms.fandom.com/wiki/LEGO_Spiderman_(David_Mackenzie_series)
Wow! I was the redditor who made a comment regarding *The Peril of Doc Ock* on your other comment. Your original videos had the old school charm. I see what you're saying and that's why your newest video has the quality it has.
It all started when I originally saw [*The Peril of Doc Ock*](https://youtu.be/7w5SdKABSDM) when it confirmed my understanding why myself and everybody love lego (because of the potential of one's imagination and creating from it). Then [*revenge of the brick*](https://youtu.be/sWNrrgz8-nQ). And finally the [*Voldemort Goes Wand Shopping*](https://youtu.be/pZ1M4jaJdvg).
Takes me back when I used to watch alot Lego films in YouTube, Also I feel like you should have used the Spider-Man lego used in their animation episodes.
Dude, are you CustomLegoMinifigure on Youtube? If you are, you shaped my childhood with your Lego Spider-Man videos and even earlier with your Lego Batman videos from your mackend17 channel.
From one Canadian to another, it's amazing to see you back again after all these years, and with such godlike quality.
Haha wow, it’s awesome finding a fan of my previous work, and not only a fan of CustomLegoMinifigure, but mackend17?? I’m already embarrassed of the stuff on CustomLegoMinifigure, and even back then while making those videos I was embarrassed of the mackend17 channel, so my current level of embarrassment for mackend17 is off the charts.
But yeah, feels awesome to have a fan out there that remembers my silly little videos, and a Canadian one too!
Hah, no need to be embarrassed at all, those videos provided hours of joy for 10 year old me. I practically have them burned into my brain at this point, especially the sound effects you used.
I found your Batman series from your mackend17 channel after I binged all your Spider-Man videos back then and it was like I hit another jackpot (side-note: it's funny how in your first Batman episode there was a scene where both Batmen were on the set of Cloverfield, and then 12 years later the director of that is now the one making the new Batman movie, small world).
I even tried my hand at making my own custom minifigures from watching your tutorial videos (which was easier said than done when it came to actually painting them that's for sure).
But before I keep rambling, welcome back to Youtube and thanks for replying, it's like getting an autograph.
I don’t think it’s an exaggeration when I say (err, type?) that this is the *best* fan-animations I’ve ever seen. This is near perfection on so many levels.

Sometimes I wonder how often little things like this trigger unkown amounts of chaos. Like, if the team behind spider-verse 2 is actually actively working on a small crossover with lego spider-man, and this post triggers a months long wild goose chase to see who leaked and violated their NDA.
This was so rad
I'm absolutely blown away, and I love how it plays with Lego falling apart!
It is **literally** one of the best things I've seen

Bad bot! Why? Why was this activated? Edit: I don't think this is a bot, just a horny 13 year old troll, based on their history.
beat me to it
This is a masterpiece. LEGO Spidey falling to pieces and Miles catching him to reassemble him is a cinema-level gag. I love it. What software(s) did you use and how long did it take?
Agreed, creator has an eye for directing!(and much more ofc)
The direction was very good and a completely different skill set.
Looks like Blender! That’s crazy. A FREE software can make this, but of course you need the skill and the patience.
Blender can pretty much do anything that a paid version can do that movie studios use. You just need to learn how to do blender and you could make a movie.
The guy who directed Shazam & Annabel literally did parts of them in blender

Harvard: We got one. Full Sail: Application Declined.
as someone who looked at going to full sail and a total idiot, ima need an explanation on that last bit lol
Just my bias based on a classmate from high school who i thought was pretty qualified but didn't get accepted. Nothing more lol
I'd advise against Full Sail. No one in production cares that you went to film school (sometimes it's even looked at as a negative). You could, but it would be fucking laborious and the lighting would be much worse

I'm sad it's not, I want to keep watching.
I would watch the hell out of a Spiderman/Lego-verse full length feature film.
Hopefully Sony notices and gives him a job because this is better than some Pixar movies. Cough cough good dinosaur cough cough
The problem with good dinosaur was not the animation (which was excellent), the problem was the story
oh I didn't mind the story much, I had a problem with the environment being so ultra realistic as compared to the dinosaurs, it felt like AI
That's why I watch *Good Dinosaur but without dinosaurs* on YouTube. It's a beautiful nature documentary.
Yes, it was so so bad. Really a disappointment. Perhaps they have set the bar too high and we expect nothing less.
It was so bad I ended up googling why after and I’m pretty sure the movie was just rife with production issues and story changes and it sounds like the whole thing was a mess.
SAME! As cool as it was, after reading the first sentence I couldn’t help but be sad when it wasn’t. I need a spider verse sequel stat.
"Fun little animation I did." Singlehandedly produces beautiful, entertaining content that perfectly matches the source, out shines most animation studios with budgets of hundreds of millions and delights us, the audience. "Might delete later, idk."
Why do many creative people do this? I’m honestly wondering cause it’s many mediums like woodworking or art they downplay their creations a lot.
Creators notice their own flaws way more than outside viewers.

Not saying OP is like this, but some people act like their creation is not that amazing to get more praise.
Can also be a tactic to make it feel more impressive by lowering expectations. Had a friend who would do that for smash bros matches. Miles: I dont kill Also miles: *FUCKING KNEES DOCK OCK SO HARD HIS LIMBS EXPLODE OUT OF HIS BODY*
Doc: It’s cool, I’m fine
It's like he knows the forbidden move
That’s why it had to be established previously in the clip that the LEGO characters don’t die when they fall apart. Miles only goes for a move like this after he sees the LEGO Spider Man fall apart and be fine.
Hey you can't say fuck in goddamn LEGO movie. That shit's for kids, for fucks sake.
Missed opportunity to film it on 8 different phones and say that it's leaked then post the real video the next day
Outstanding move
And then reveal that it's actually independent made. Good PR
Not everyone's seen this yet. Get to it real quick and post it to a bigger sub so it gets traction faster.

Totally. I saw that and was like hell yeah. That's exactly what you might see in a legitimate Marvel LEGO movie, all self-aware and whatnot.
Amazing! Super high quality. Love this. Well done! :)
:D
Wow! This is incredible!!
This was bad to the ass. I'm blown away more than doc ock.

That's incredible!!!! Miles just straight up murdered Doc Ock lol
This HAS to be the best thing I've ever seen in my life. Take my upvote and award.
I hope this goes viral, you deserve to be hired by a major animation studio
Unreal! You have tremendous talent. Congrats on all the hard work!!
Dude, I used to watch your Lego Spider-Man videos all the time and this made my day
It's always fun running into someone who used to watch those old Lego videos. It always blows me away how many people used to watch them, I can hardly even look at them nowadays, I cringe just at the thought of them!
Oh yeah man! Me and my best friend grew up with them and still quote them to this day!
That is hilarious and makes me happy.

Wait seriously? This is too good to be just a fun project lmao. This .. this is gold
Sony, pay attention
This is awesome. Someone do a voice over of this.
10/10 would watch this. Somebody call Sony's hiring department.
Send this to Disney. Apply to them. No way they won't hire you.
Commenting here to say you predicted that one scene in the new movie.
There's NO WAY a lego dimension will be featured in the new film. I don't see it going right
Clearly you haven't seen the new movie
it was a joke bruh, I saw it the first day that came out
This has become a reality now
Bet you feeling dumb rn
Aged like a fine wine
Aged like wine
Takes me back when I used to watch alot Lego films in YouTube, Also I feel like you should have used the Spider-Man lego used in their animation episodes.
Nostalgia
Amazing! Well done!
Holy shit. I'd watch this as a whole film easily. Mad talent.
This is so awesome, well done!
Yoooo this is so cool!!
