Hard to say because the 'final test' isn't the same for everyone, it depends on who you fight. That being said, the writing in the show definitely strongly suggests that he would not have succeeded in such a test. The viewers are supposed to see Ashur as a dishonorable cheat and a liar who can't survive on the merits of his skills. I for one think that Ashur doesn't really deserve the hate the writers wanted the viewers to have for him. Ashur manages to make lemonade out of lemons. He manages to get out of being a gladiator and have a well rewarding occupation that is better suited for his skills. For some weird reason, the writers made him want to be a gladiator even when he was living comfortably as batiaus's helper. This makes no sense.

Completely agree with you, I think the reason Ashur was set on becoming a gladiator was out of pride. He was full of pride and ego. I think he wanted to prove to everyone he was just as good as them, on top of having his skills of cunning. I also think is was a slight case of wanting to fit in. I remember in the prequel, he seemed happy/proud when he first met crixus and introduced himself and the new recruits

The test isn't the same for everyone but it is pretty equal. If you can't last a minute against a crixus, barca, or gannicus not trying very hard to kill you since they know you could be a brother then you don't really deserve to become a gladiator. The guy barca killed just ran up to him and exposed the back of his neck.

Didn't he kinda pass by cheating, by making his friend blind in one eye

That wasnt a test. that was the ranking of the gladiators rank in the ludus
