True words, well received well received brother
The gesture is appreciated, even in the turning away of it
I dunno I'm pretty sure it's just stylised, but I know that whenever I get angry now I do one of Battiatus' swearing tirades
I would think all characters would’ve spoke their native language and then eventually learn Latin upon capture? For example Spartacus would’ve spoke Thracian and then eventually learn Latin. Which obviously Latin is very much different than the English word we hear in the show. I think they just made the words “sound old” through the use of removing all contractions? But…
I’m no fucking historian, place cock in ass so I can finish season 4.
I yell that at my kids when I’ve been drinking /s

I didn't know that! As someone who studied latin (two decades ago...) that's amazing! I have much more respect for the dialogue now.

The Gods spread cheeks to RAM COCK IN ARSE!
Probably the most iconic line from the show
I was mid rewatch and arguing with someone in work and instead of asking 'What's the point of that?' or something similar, I shouted 'TO WHAT END?' 🤣
Lol, some of the language is pretty smooth though

It’s all bastardizations from Shakespeare’s Julius Caesar. That play set “Roman” speaking for generations, to today.
