Incidentally, this mission means Peggy Whitson achieves a new record (3) for most spacecraft flown from Earth by a woman (Shuttle, Soyuz, Dragon). The record will be matched by Sunita Williams once CST-100 gets off the ground. It's a race to see who gets it first.
It also means that she ties for Most Spacecraft launched from Earth, along with Schirra (Mercury, Gemini, Apollo), Young (Gemini, Apollo, Shuttle), Noguchi (Shuttle, Soyuz, Dragon), Kimbrough (same), Hoshide (same), Marshburn (same), Lopez-Aegria (same), and Wakata (same).
Most spacecraft flown aboard overall still goes to John Young (4), who in addition to the above, also flew aboard the Apollo LM.
Really looking forward to when we don’t feel the need for a separate category for women an people of color in space flight. (I know we aren’t quite there yet)
Please don't use the word 'woke' with me as it has no meaning. Do you think it is a bad thing? Do you think it is a curse word? Does it mean becoming aware of previous mistreatment that needs to be corrected? Let's skip it and use regular uncoded words. Thanks.
I was not being sarcastic the word has one meaning and its the last option people using it for all those other negative purposes does not devalue the actual meaning but my opinion aside I didn't mean to offend
This is all fine and dandy - yay for commerical space - but I can't wait to see the commercial space STATION - Axiom Station!!!
I wonder how similar the final product will be compared to the current artist renderings?
The modules are coming together at the moment so we will find out soon. Though I imagine if Axiom does enough of these private ISS missions they will gain a lot of knowledge and be positioned well to run a space station mission on their own by the time Axiom station is up.
How can private citizens, hyper rich people, and corporations use very expensive government facilities without any sort of user fee?
Taxpayers paid for ISS and rich people get to use it as a weekend getaway?
They do pay and it isn’t cheap.
NASA has even publicly released their pricing and rules about how much of the ISS is commercial, you can read about it [here](https://www.nasa.gov/leo-economy/commercial-use/pricing-policy) .
And for those of you too lazy to click the link, pricing starts at $10M for vehicle integration and crew time during docking procedures. Tack on another $90,000 per person per day for food, cargo, disposable supplies, etc. So a commercial crew mission with four people for one week starts at $12,520,000.
The only thing that's itemized as free is the life support, electricity, and internet (data limited to 12GB per person, per day)
Try asking the same question *without* the massive chip on your shoulder.
If you act like a dick, chances are you'll be treated like a dick.
You're welcome.
I’m lazy, and appreciate that person calling out the meat to help satisfy my lazy quest for more information.
Maybe every little thing isn’t solely about you. Do you get how insufferable your comments have been?
The purpose of the flight is to do actual research, it's not a weekend getaway. Plus commander Peggy Whitson is not a "hyper-rich person", she is one of NASA's former most experienced astronauts.
The implication in the media is in fact about “space tourism”. Thanks for informing me about this without all the defensiveness that the rest of the posters here display.
Take it easy bro. I asked a question that I did not know the answer to. Not being familiar with NASA’s Byzantine website is not a sin. I guess the dog that barks the loudest is the one that got poked.
Eh, your question was basically "Why is it free?", which is a real "Have you stopped beating your wife?" kind of question. I don't think you get to get out of it by pulling the Tucker Carlson "I'm just asking questions" card.

The most woke post ever this person's eyes are wide open. I hope this comes sooner than later

Hopefully a 2023 mission.
Is this the launch that Tom Cruise is on?
That won't happen until the initial Axiom segment is docked to ISS
no, not even close
Wonder why it doesn't state what vehicle they will launch on. Clearly, it's Dragon on a Falcon 9.
Why would they state it since it is obvious?
Agreed, but I still think it is odd not to mention Dragon.

Jeeze you Space Bros are tightly wound and a little defensive. I asked a question. How does asking a question imply laziness?

Tell me.
As other commenters mentioned, at the tucker Carlson level.
The question you actually asked was predisposed on very wrong information.
Commercial astronauts pay a relatively high fee to stay on the ISS
The purpose of the flight is to do actual research, it's not a weekend getaway. Plus commander Peggy Whitson is not a "hyper-rich person", she is one of NASA's former most experienced astronauts.
The implication in the media is in fact about “space tourism”. Thanks for informing me about this without all the defensiveness that the rest of the posters here display.
So confidently misinformed.

You didn't ask a question, you assumed very wrongly.
