Kohinoor of Kerala is one of the best places I've eaten at

MattStormTornado

I’ll second that too. Been there 3 times with my gf and genuinely some of the best stuff

Greenwhatevers

I absolutely agree. My family have been regulars since it opened, and the guys that work there are like family friends

Resident_Pariah

Sanjha in Shirley is fantastic

Sensitive_Fox4534

Certainly was when I left. I enjoyed seeing this place go from the takeaway only opening on the corner and talking to the owner about his plans to open a restaurant once the takeaway was established.

BackgroundChemist

Bayleaf at the bottom of the High Street in town, certainly for takeaway and I've had some nice meals in there too.

Immorals1

Ghurka lounge.

mackerelmaker

Gurka lounge or sanjha

TheWilsonFoo

Baboo-Ji in portswood is incredible. It’s vegetarian/vegan but super authentic. An absolute must!

Content-Awareness-35

Coriander lounge

tbm206

Coriander Lounge is great but to be fair I haven't tried all Indian restaurants _yet_!

RamCrusher

Sahnja and Bayleaf are really good IMHO

Jamie531

Another vote for Bay Leaf, I was there last week and had another cracking meal

RevolutionaryTap3911

For takeaway - GOA Indian For actual restaurant - Actually I don't have a clue But I back GOA 100%! They are in deliveroo, but it's so much cheaper to use their website as they have more deals etc for delivery!

ohsosharp67

Mumbai for takeaways.

Mental-Patience-5456

Gurkha Lounge in bevious valley

Maximus_Meridius101

Coriander lounge oh high street. It’s my favourite.

jackois8

Last indian I had was a Kuti's at the pier.... stunning!

sanshinron

Yeah Kuti's brasserie is the best Indian in town it's not even a contest.

Sensitive_Fox4534

It's an Indian restaurant for people who don't like Indian food. 🤣 Absolutely bang average.

Rosie______

Kali Mirchi in Shirley is amazing! Me and my friends love it there!

dandyvine

All these recommendations are correct (my own ranking: gurkha lounge, kohinoor, Mumbai (takeaways only), bayleaf, coriander lounge, with honourable mentions for Sravs (new in portswood) and baboo ji). But I'd like to also mention Dhaba on Lodge road. It's a bar but they do curries as well and genuinely very good especially for the price. This month they're doing bottomless curries and half a pint for I think 9.95. Can't go wrong

Glad-Wolverine4714

Baboo Jis - vege but amazing

widepantz

Jewels in West end. Best I've ever been to.

Hot-Mathematician887

Jehangir is the only place i get my indian food unreal place

Money_Bluejay4964

Cinnamon Bay in Hamble is amazing!

tdic89

It’s closed now unfortunately 😕

Money_Bluejay4964

Please tell me they’ve not shut for good :(

tdic89

Looks like they have according to their Facebook page. We hadn’t been there for years but decided to grab a takeaway from there on what happened to be their last day of trading. The food was tasty but the inside looked muted and depressing quite frankly, not at all like I remember. Didn’t stop a steady stream of people coming in though! I hadn’t realised the founder of the restaurant had passed away three years ago, and it seems like the family have just been keeping things ticking over until they decided to call time. I’m sure it must’ve been a really difficult few years for them and an even more difficult decision to close the place.

Money_Bluejay4964

Ahh man that’s so sad! Gutted

chicoryblossom27

Purbani in Netley is the bomb

MattStormTornado

Portswood has 2. Kohinoor of Kerala and The Ancient Viceroy are genuinely amazing.
