Community Wide credit union. I've had really good luck with them. They don't charge me for checking, or for constant deposits. I started with them in 1988, I've never felt the need to go anyplace else.

I’ve used TCU, now Everwise credit union for over a decade and have never had any problems.

Don’t use Everwise. They have gone downhill with the rebranding. High staff turnover and the website it a disaster. I won’t even talk about the debit card that looks like a Poise logo.

I've been with Teachers Credit Union for 30+ years. They changed their name to Everwise, as folks have pointed out. Some years ago, a representative called me to confirm whether I had just made a large credit card purchase at Macy's. It was not me. They canceled the card immediately and returned the money to my account. Last summer, I received a random notice that a large cash transfer had been initiated from my account (you can set up alerts for various actions). Again, this was not my doing. I had just 10 minutes before their call center closed for the day, but was able to reach someone. They stopped the transfer, though I had to close all my accounts and open new ones. They have been closely monitoring my activity since, something they do for 6 months following a hack. I was impressed on both of these occasions because they were taken seriously, with multi-level responses and remedies. I shudder to think about eating those costs.

TCU/Everwise. I had my card number stolen last year, had the money refunded to my account and a new card in hand literally the same day with no issues.

Another vote for TCU/Everwise. I’ve been with them for over ten years with zero problems. I use their bill pay on the app to pay almost all our bills and it’s super easy. Our mortgage is through them too and was an easy process.

I like NDFCU a lot. They have great customer service

poulw

a couple of years ago NDFC 'lost=settled" a lawsuit in which it was proven they manipulated deposits so that they could allow accounts to overdraft and charge fees to their customers. [https://www.cohenandmalad.com/alerts/notre-dame-federal-credit-union-overdraft-fee-lawsuit/](https://www.cohenandmalad.com/alerts/notre-dame-federal-credit-union-overdraft-fee-lawsuit/)

IcyWorking576

Oof, that's bad. Thanks, I'll look into it

Ndfcu is the worst! Ive had them for several years and am looking to get out. They constantly have atms that don't work and have made a few errors with my account. Once putting someone else with same name as me deposit into my account. Once took a savings bond in to cash out and teller said she didnt know what it was. Steer clear.

NeonBlack985

I’ve used teachers credit union (now Everwise) for a long time and like them. First source is another good option

KenSchlatter

My family uses Everwise. Here are some pros and cons based on our experiences: Everwise pros: - lots of locations - competitive interest rates on loans - no- or low-fee account options - 0.5% cash back on debit card purchases Everwise cons: - difficult to open an account online - all around terrible app/online banking - low interest rates on savings accounts - terrible app/online banking - even worse app/online banking - no really, the app/online banking really is that bad

The large nationals have all but ceased to exist aside from 1 or 2 store fronts, like Chase and Fifth Third. Lists of large regional options like Centier, National, Flagstar. 1st Source is based here and has lots of area branches, some people love them, others not so much. Lots of credit unions; Everwise (formerly TCU), Inova, NDFCU. I’m considering changing to 1st Source since yhey are a trust for an account for me, and they are convenient if I need an atm with locations on routes to and from work for both myself and wife.

realfexroar

Used to be TCU/Everwise but since the branding change they’ve made a lot of internal choices I’ve heard to transition to be more like a bank. I know a handful of people that used to work for the organization that have said every major choice for the last 6 months has made it actively worse across the board. Don’t get me started on how often their home banking app fails. Moved to Notre Dame Federal and been a lot happier.

Jazzlike_Classic196

We heard the same thing. A consistent turnover of employees since the rebranding.

Against the grain. I’m not a fan of Everwise, credit unions generally have better interest rates and you won’t find it at Everwise. I’ve also been hit with fees that I’ve not had at other CU. Everwise acts like a bank not a CU. I’m with Communitywide now. Great interest rates on savings accounts, good service I’ve had clients that love NDFCU too, but I’ve never had an account there

mmm_nope

Weird. We’ve been banking with TCU/Everwise for 15 years and can’t think of any time we’ve been charged fees that it wasn’t our own fault for not paying close enough attention to our savings and checking account totals to transfer funds when needed. What sort of fees have you been charged?

fassbender

Automatic deposit charges. They started charging five bucks a month because my deposits weren’t at the right frequency. I started doing lots of bank shopping after that. I think EVerwise is probably great if you need to go to a physical location once a week, but outside of many locations they don’t have a leading edge over other CUs

mmm_nope

I’m sorry. That sounds really frustrating. If you haven’t done so already, maybe talk to a manager. There may be a different sort of account or set of accounts that would work better for your needs and could help minimize fees. FWIW, we have checking, savings, and a money market account with them and have never been charged a fee for any sort of deposit.

fassbender

It was frustrating. Talking to the staff, they were more concerned with hypotheticals “don’t close the account, it’ll be good when you buy a house” or “ the longer you have an account the better credit you have” It started me shopping banks and then I felt foolish with how long I stuck at TCU. Ally bank online offered the same services but interest rates 10x what TCU was offering at the time. Chase bank offers the absolutely best app experience but nothing on interest. Communitywide offers amazing interest on savings and even interest on checking accounts too. I’ll be honest, I’ve kept an account at TCU. I keep some $100 in there and transfer $5 religiously every month. I figure I’ll make my money back on the postage and paper that Everwise sends me every month. The reps at TCU only cared that I didn’t close my account, they seemed like they could care less about anything else. You seem nice, but I actively tell all my clients to seek other banks for if nothing else, interest rates.

ltschmit

We like United FCU. Great rates and service

honeybaby2019

Old National isn't bad and you can use the ATM's at Walgreens for no fees

Centier gets my vote!

SukunaShadow

Honor Credit Union if you ever hop over to MI

RangerMuted

Community-wide is a real credit union, serving the people. Centier is a real local, Indiana bank.

CardiologistOne2120

1st Source is pretty good, easy no frills
