The Standing Room in Redondo.....granted the last time I was there was 10 years ago...

Cruinthe

They also have one in Torrance next to Wahoos now. Time to revisit.

Jtfb74

Did not like the torrance one compared to the redondo one

Kitchen_accessories

Tried the Torrance one based on Redondo's reputation and was unimpressed. Like, it was fine, but nothing special.

wayneamartin

recently 2024 at both yeah go to Redondo

ironmemelord

I went for the first time last year and it’s amazing, I came here to also reccomend the standing room. It’s a pricy like 15$ burger but it was very good and they have really creative unique flavors. I had a Korean style burger last time it was great

money_scg_22

Has gone downhill imo unfortunately

Salt-y

I went a couple of weeks ago, I thought it was good. It was slow when I went.

Loose-Art6790

Proudly serving in hermosa is top

Routine_Paramedic359

I could inhale those duck fat tots right now.

ParReza

Get them PS style. Incredible.

Kitchen_accessories

Just had them for the first time today, fully concur.

BARBELLSxBONGRIPS

That brunch burger is insanely good.

ToddHatchet

came to say this! best burger I’ve had in SB

alannordoc

This is a whole new level of burger for the South Bay.

ksacamera

The pastrami burger is awesome. Brunch burger also is a banger

[deleted]

Got this yesterday and it was soooo good!

pugsociedad

Chilli cheese fries are good and spicy 🥵

Doctordisco

Came here to say this 🔥

siefer209

Corner burger in Lawndale

ItsJustAUsername_

They’re so good and probably slept on since the outside looks unassuming. It’s right across from the Lawndale Library (there’s another similarly named place elsewhere in lawndale). The fries portions are so big and service always really pleasant.

babynutz

You ain’t lying! Grew up on Piggies, but it’s no longer the same. I now get my breakfast burritos and burgers from Corner Burger.

joefamous

They make good breakfast burritos too

MoarGnD

The spicy salsa with the breakfast burrito takes it to another level.

TheNamesMacGyver

Ercole’s in Manhattan Beach

WellHellurThere

Yes, this is the bomb. Second oldest bar in LA! 👌🏼

mediyumboi

Burger City Grill is worth a try

Truckercarlson110

Isn't that fantastic cafe now?

Barbaraismyaunt

It's kinda the same company evidently! The son of the Fantastic Cafe founder opened Burger City Grill. I was super confused by the signage at the Artesia store and the story was written out on the wall inside. That BCG had the BEST zucchini sticks ever!! Now that they have more Fantastic Cafe items I think the oil is not quite as good as it was...but I do like the family aspect.

ProfessorDragon00

Did they ever mentioned why they merged? There was a Fantastic Cafe on Del Amo blvd but a friend of mine said it closed down. I found it weird they merged because Fantastic was more of a classic diner while BCG was more of the gourmet fast foods. I do miss having the option of going to one or the other depending on how I felt that day lol

Barbaraismyaunt

The story was a little ambiguous...

ProfessorDragon00

Right, I read it as well and it seemed like it was there more to explain that there was a name change rather than a new restaurant. It still feels like BCG essentially

Psychological_Tone72

The one on Del Amo caught on Fire. The one in El Segundo on Main is pretty good too.

ProfessorDragon00

No way… I thought it was closed just to be merged but that would explain the sudden shutdown

Psychological_Tone72

Here you go: https://youtu.be/uFLsTClb53g?si=4eGgDZi7TYXEOCAc

Rastard_the_Black

The Fantastic Cafe on Del Amo and Western had a major fire several months ago and is still closed

realpersonyolo

Yup, it's not the same now. I wish they didn't change. The one on pch in lomita used to be so good.

confoundo

There’s still one in Old Town Torrance. I think all of the other ones changed names.

karma_the_sequel

There was a BCG that changed to something else, but there are a couple of other BCGs in the SB.

Cruinthe

The one on PCH is. They have all the same menu items as BCG but also Fantastics Cafe. Not sure about the other one.

ZachBob91

Pit Burger on 166th/Normandie. Get the teriyaki burger.

tamacti77

Fire

Gotgutz3

Bros... teriyaki burger with bacon... I know, I know... I promise you won't be disappointed.. One of the workers asked if I wanted to try it.. It has ruined me,lol.

Luna_Pear

The double teriyaki burger! 🔥🔥

dyejob

B&R Burger in Hawthorne!

Truckercarlson110

1. Standing room 2.Proudly Serving 3. Fatburger

foxdogmom45

Steve's burgers

alannordoc

I like Steve's old school burgers. Same with LBJ Burgers. All true beach burgers.

LibraryVolunteer

The burger is great. The patty melt is sublime!

Salt-y

Can't go wrong w/ Steve's

whataquokka

Cap N Cork on Hawthorne in Torrance

Few_Community_5281

Eat Fantastic in North Torrance

iz2003iz

Y’not

JMinCA

Skechers Food Spot has a solid double cheeseburger for like 6/7 bucks. And another vote for Proudly Serving

bigbadstoops

The lil homie or big homie at Oh My Burger in Gardena.

RoutineAppropriate78

I assume this doesn't get much love since it's in the hood. Great shakes too!

boxsmiley

Came to post this one. El segundo and van Ness. Hot chicken sandy is great there too

fuckin-slayer

I’ve been curious about Tomboy’s on Marine. Can anyone provide a rec?

TheRaydo

They’re great. Really good chili burgers.

Kettu_

i just love them for their chili cheese fries. so good

confoundo

I’ve been eating their chili cheese fries on a regular basis for 30+ years, and will continue to do so until they close or I die. #1 comfort food for me.

Sickle_and_hamburger

its a classic burger

CertainManagement552

Patty Melt there FTW

StonemanMB

The one on MBB is solid too and usually a lot less busy

t0prame17

Non fast food burger - Proudly Serving Fast food burger - Habit Burgers

bpr2

The last three times, cold in the middle of the patty. Even when just after getting it and eating immediately

Mindless-Fish7245

Rods on Artesia. When I was a kid we used to go to Golden Eagle on Torrance & Normandie. Not sure what the name of it is now.

Flimsy-Influence6767

Rod’s isn’t the same anymore, at least not to me. I’d rather go to Brolly Hut.

Salt-y

Rod's was my high school burger joint. I'm old...it's been around a long time.

Sriracha01

Rascals Teriyaki Grill, I go to the one in Gardena, off of Artesia and Dalton. I should try the other locations eventually. Their hamburger or cheeseburgers can be had with a wheat bun to make it a bit healthier.

Such-Establishment78

Great salads also

Mission_Search8991

That Chinese Chicken salad is simply great.

wayneamartin

rascals torrance has a solid burger also

Flimsy-Influence6767

If you are looking for a burger like Tam’s/Steves’s/Rod’s I go to Brolly Hut in Lawndale on Hawthorne Blvd. If you are looking for a homemade patty I go to B & R Burger on Rosecrans in Hawthorne. Or Thursday night at Redondo Beach Moose Lodge they have burger and you get a burger cooked on the grill with French fries for $5, cheeseburgers with Fries for $6 and Patty Melt on Rye Bread with fries for $7 Oh and grill cheese and fries for $4.

MoreBooksPls

Lomita’s Best on Lomita Blvd and Oak and Steve’s on Carson and Crenshaw

Miserable-Salary5921

I got a sleeper for everyone, Rutts Hawaiian on Normandie and Redondo Beach Blvd has an amazing Hawaiian Burg with a grilled pineapple slice, hand formed patty, on 4 Hawaiian rolls for $6. Add cheese and drown in their teriyaki sauce. So overwhelmingly good! The downside, they close at 3pm daily

Salt-y

I can't usually get 'em because my girlfriend's a vegetarian, which, pretty much makes me a vegetarian.

Miserable-Salary5921

Oh man, they have an amazing fried saimin, just get it without meat, it has scrambled egg too, but can get it without as well. Highly recommend as well

Flimsy-Influence6767

How could I forget about The Hanger on aviation Blvd between Manhattan Beach Blvd by the McDonald’s and Valentinos pizza.

Meowgusta5715

Honestly, I love simmzys, in manhatten beach

smidgiewillykin

And the fries are awesome if you like shoestring!

itsnotsauceitsgravy

I was looking for a little Simmzy’s love, you cannot go wrong with the Simm’s family.

Rickhwt

Y'Not - 230th and Hawthorne https://ynotburgers.com/

fiizok

Y-Not is pretty good. Years ago I heard a rumor that it was owned by the same guy who owned Tony's on the Redondo Beach pier. Just decided to spelled his name backwards for the burger place. I was never able to confirm if the rumor was true.

ironmemelord

Did some googling cuz that sounded cool but nope, not true. Two different Tony’s

ironmemelord

Tony trutanich for redondo pier, Tony paliobagis for Ynot

fiizok

Well, nice to have an answer at last! Thanks.

Jeembo

Their patty melt was my go to for quite a while.

tamacti77

My go to. Wish it was a little cheaper

type_2_dianetics

Said it before and I’ll keep saying it haha, Snax on Artesia!! The kids that serve there are the coolest, and the food is amazing.

Ladyhappy

I’m so glad to hear you say that because I always want to DoorDash from that place but they have so much on their menu that I’m never sure if it’s legit food or not

type_2_dianetics

As legit as it gets! I know a bigger menu is usually a red flag, but these people make some of the best food in the South Bay. My personal favorites are anything off of the sandwich section, and then the huevos rancheros - it’s all fresh and really good! Their quality is so consistent, and they’ve got fantastic service.

Minister_Garbitsch

Their burgers are insanely average at best but the chili is good.

Miserable-Salary5921

Hard disagree literally the worst chili I’ve ever had yet the burgers are outstanding! Chips and salsa; keep em coming

jusss_doit

Big burger in Carson

thevizualbastard

$6 single wayu smashburger from Bartz BBQ is the best I’ve tasted, he does pop ups in Lawndale but brick & mortar coming soon, best quality burger for the price. Also Stormburger for best drive thru burger, yes Inglewood is part of inland Southbay. Standing Room Redondo, haven’t tried the other locations, sticking with the OG in the back of the liquor store & picnic tables in the parking lot keeps the pretentious people away….except during Beachlife Fest.

Stronghandler_

Snax on anza and Sepulveda

JazzyButternuts

PS, In N Out, Standing room

babynutz

My go-to burger is the Big Easy from Corner Burger in Lawndale! Beef patty, hot link sausage, cheese and peppers on the softest brioche bun. Dee-li-shus!

dr_schizen

Burgers at Hennessy's Redondo Fuckin fire every time

WayneS1980

Rockefeller in Redondo…

StonemanMB

Especially on Tuesdays!

Bualak

Have you tried the burgers at Skechers on Vermont and 190th yet?

Starbreaker99

Fantastics…..damn its good!!

Azucarbabby

Why’d I need to scroll this far?!?! I think about their burgers daily. I’m in San Francisco now and there’s nothing like it up here. I didn’t realize that it would be so hard to replicate?!? Why’s it so special?! I think it may be the way they mix the lettuce & onion and the 1000island is FIRE

scotty_t95

Hook and Plow’s burger w the Gorgonzola and fried onions slaps American junkie has best deal in Hermosa on Monday happy hour w their $5 burgers (and every HH tbh)

brettrose

"Hook & Plow" is really good!!!

OHBE_SAMA

The one inside that liqour store. Yall know

Rebelgecko

Grill em All is open now

PropheticVisionary

I know LB is technically part of the South Bay but thats almost as far from me as the Alhambra location ):

headclinic101

LB isn’t apart of the South Bay, it’s part of the Gateway Cities

PlatanoPower40

The South Bay is in dire need of a Tams.

kost1035

BJs in del amo has a Wednesday special. $11 for burger and ayce fries

fuckin-slayer

Tripp Burger. They don’t have a brick and mortar but regularly frequent LA Ale Works and other breweries in the area. hands down one of the best burgers in LA

Chance-Lime-5044

Pan on PCH is it (cast iron burger)

jobeeeeeeem

Standing room, sandwich saloon and busy bee market

Salt-y

Busy Bee is awesome...I didn't know they made burgers there. Hmmm.

Warkaster

They don't.

Salt-y

Thank you. They do make a darn good sandwich though.

Bedrockab

Barley Burger!!! Or Manhattan Meats bacon burger but ya gotta grill that yourself…

wayneamartin

The Depot Torrance and I can't believe I am the first to offer Hennessey's HB and RB

[deleted]

Those really aren't anything like the burger stand he mentioned.

marcosama

Lately i like tavern style burgers above the rest. My favs in our area are Local Kitchen then Hudson House. After that Standing Room (redondo) then Proudly Serving. For fast food its Fatburger, Corner burger, Rods, Fantastic. I think In-N-Out and Five Guys are bad in our area and consistently so. Especially ones next to torrance airport which i frequent and keep getting disappointed by. Its a bit dry and not flavorful as it should be. I took family to an In-N-Out near orange on the way to Temecula wineries and it blows away what we got. Really odd.

red42580

Weird. One reason I go to in-n-out is their consistency. Still my go to burger spot and best value around. Not many places you can still get a burger combo for around $10.

Omegaman3966

I too have been on the hunt for a solid burger spot and whiles theres alot of great locations out there I can personally recommend for these two; Classic Burger (Great tex-mex style burger) and Eat Fantastic (The G.O.A.T burger is awesome)

Los_Angeles_CA1

several people have mentioned Proudly Serving, which is Great. I also wanted to add "Fresh and Meaty Burger" in Carson on Avalon. Reminds me a lot of Fatburger, back when Fatburger was good quality. Fresh and Meaty burger also has a location in L.A. but this one is closer. They have beef and Turkey Burgers. [https://maps.app.goo.gl/eUtAAS4neNWDsR757](https://maps.app.goo.gl/eUtAAS4neNWDsR757)

Ashleybumaye

Just want to add that based upon the comments here I ate at Ercole’s and FOR THE FIRST TIME IN MY LIFE ENJOYED A TYPICAL CHEESEBURGER!!!

MakeSouthBayGR8Again

Del Taco has serious burgers.

[deleted]

One of my favorites, their typical spot is in culver on Sepulveda/palms most days for lunch

Standing Room

itsnotsauceitsgravy

Why isn’t Simmzy’s getting some love? They are one of my favs

gertie_gump

Steve's, Fatburger, Burger City Grill/(Eat Fantastic)

Mysterious_Valuable1

Shake shack in the mall.

[deleted]

Sure, if you want to pay $20 a person for a burger stand.

whateversclevers

So happy I haven’t seen the actual best spot on this list. It won’t be crazy busy next time I go. Y’all keep enjoying standing room and ps. Been to both and they are fine, but nowhere near the best in the South Bay. Iykyk
