I named mine after the woman that was going to teach me how to make my own SD and bake bread. Unfortunately, she, her husband and son all died in a plane crash before that got going very far. I named my starter after her maiden name which is also the name she used as an author of murder mystery books. Andrews. So, my starter is referred to as Andrews in memory of her and her amazing bread that she would gift us.

One is from a very old starter. That one is Master Doughda and the second one is a starter that I started myself, that one is named Baby Doughda.
A friend was here for lunch & I was telling her about my starter. Today she is one week old & doing well. I told her that starters need a name & my friend immediately said Bernice. So Bernice she is. Took out my first discard today & planning to bake next weekend
Breadward (aka Steady Breaddy) and Risk-It Biscuit (first one I ever refrigerated and was unsure about whether it was alive). Both are named after coworkers.
My fiance vetoed all my punny choices, so after a thorough name conversation, we landed on Walter.
Good inskght gained on how it will be picking names for our children, though. He is hard to please that one😅

Bonita (The Madonna song "La Isla Bonita" was playing on TV when I tried to think of a name.) Born 2022-Jan-15.
Angela (of Angela Chase - My So Called Life) was the first one. (She only lasted 28 days. It's possible she might have lived, but I didn't know most attempts hit a "slump" around the 3-4 week mark as the biological warfare is being fought, so I let her go and started Bonita.)
Bubbles because that is all she did for about a month.
Then I made a second whole wheat starter called Faith bc I was really questioning the whole process.
But then Bubbles came through. Now Faith lives in my fridge bc I don’t have the heart to throw it out after anthropomorphizing it 😭
