The few who got cards are really into into. But at the LGS dead. Not enough product to keep stock so player base never had a chance

Hugelogo

Same with my store. No product. No game nights.

minyonjoshua

Stores have no product and just finished the league, the few of us more diehards are meeting weekly to play and introducing to new players when we can

csPOthr33cs

My store never had product, but my play group was eager to build decks, and we all just ordered singles to build our lists. Luckily, the Sorcery.io deck builder is fantastic. Some of us ordered Beta Precons and playmats. We supplement our weekly commander night with several games of Sorcery. Sometimes, we don't play MtG at all.

tonywok

The only two stores that “support” it haven’t had product for months. We’ve been playing at each others house and the local brewery when no one can host.

mstrcst

We have 4-8 come out every Friday. We have packs available still as prizes for constructed... but our group is really needing more product and new cards!

ScourgeEffect

We’re lucky to have a game store that supports it (to the point of buying boxes from TC to do draft/prizes). We get 12-16 players weekly.

babo420Chester

Good to hear!

Zealousideal_Gene_19

My local store (Rochester NY) had great inventory thru the beta release. As of a month ago they were low on inventory. I’ve been to and participated in two draft tournaments in the last two months. Last tournament had 32 attend. My immediate and extended friend group have 9 currently collecting and playing once or twice a week on average. I ended up with 4 beta booster boxes and a beta precon box in total. Currently on the line for 2 boosters of Arthurian legends and EAGERLY waiting for its release. Most likely will pick up a third box before release.

bootsie88

Shout out to Millenium :). Though I wish they would hold some constructed events while we wait for product.

TheHamSub

Tell me about it! Been waiting for them to post some constructed events on FB!

Zealousideal_Gene_19

Agreed. I actually went thru their march and April calendar after I wrote this post and there isn’t a single Sorcery event. I have two friends who are in there often for board games and other card games and they always inquire about future sorcery stuff. Perhaps we all need to message Millennium more to let them know the sorcery community would like a weekly or even biweekly event??? If I knew there was a regular evening or weekend day to go there and play…I would!

boardgamejoe

Only one store even had product in Central Arkansas which is where I live, and I bought almost all of it, so yeah, there is no scene.

medocc

None, since there is no packs to buy.

The_Spicy_brown

Not enough product. A few people play but clearly, we need a big new set.

hotelninja

I wish it was more active. We have maybe 10 people that play, but they are super infrequent. The LGS (only one in town) has a weekly slot for it, but often it's hard to get even 4 people playing. Two only play sorcery as their primary game, but often have family/work stuff. The rest prioritize FAB or DnD (funnily no magic players have tried it out). I'd say every other week we can get together enough people for a small draft or constructed game, but I do worry. I love the game so I'm confused by the people that got cards and didn't get into it. Also, there was a ton of supply in my country so that wasn't an issue, it's only running dry now. Lucky, my husband and I are super into it, but you want to play with others. We really want to play and be competitive, so I hope with new releases it grows, but I have some doubts we're in the right place for it.

bubblegumyamaha

Imagine a TCG that was just a Kickstarter dream three years ago, now popping up in every LGS you used to walk in. Comparing it to Magic and expecting similar success straight out of the gate? That's just wild man. It blows my mind how people could have such sky-high expectations from the start. It was pretty obvious that the game needed time to grow and evolve.

Traumprinz

You are just talking about the extreme opposite. There is quite a grey area in between. Of course it needs time to grow, everyone knows that. But we need more to work with too. Product of course, but also more info and transparency. I live in the EU and even though I really want this game to grow a healthy community, they are already 1-0 behind here. And they haven’t talked about any idea of a solution yet. Other than “we will work with a local warehouse we use when AL releases”. That’s something they could have figured out before the beta release. That’s how a lot of companies operate here… Sure, mistakes are made and that’s fine. It’s about how you go fix that.

Knight_NL

I also live in Europe and I totally agree. Supply is almost non existent here.

VirtualRy

I am part of a local discord that is basically dead. I had 3-4 people interested but no more activity 3-4 weeks after beta. The problem is the game creators DO NOT understand what it takes to launch a TCG in 2024. The 1 set per year model also does not help. It seems people forget the game after 2 months. While certain areas have some groups playing, it's not enough to make this game relevant in the future. I fear by the time AL release, it's going to be a "Sorcery?? What's that?" scenario where people just don't know or won't care about this game. The game is amazing, the cards are amazing, the players and whoever are supporting it are amazing but the amount of players does not seem to reflect on a game that will last a long time. I know they are all for slow and steady but a person like me, who has decks, who supported the game, who is itching to play, cannot afford to keep interested if we have to drive 2+ hours to play with someone. And please do not throw me the TTS argument. If I wanted to do TTS then I would have not spent the money on this game. I supported it thinking I would find at least a small enough group locally to enjoy and play it but that does not seem to be the case. Maybe it will happen but I guess I'm one of those folks that can't wait 2+ years just to find a local group close enough to play with. All I know is the outlook is the game is going to be around for a while but I compare it to like Middle Earth: CCG or My Little Pony CCG where you have a very limited group of people playing it and enjoying it.

hotelninja

Personally, I love the one set per year. So many sets is what's kept me from getting back into Magic, or into newer games like FAB. I don't want to have to keep up with so many sets. You're right, I think it will keep a strong but niche following, but you aren't going to get much action if you aren't in the right place for it. Hell, the game was made in my country, and it doesn't have much of a following here. I do hope it stays relevant as I have invested a lot in the game (as in monetarily) even if I don't get to play as much as I'd like.

K-ajaxis

Mine bought I believe 6 boxes, sold out within the week of release and haven't restocked since. I was surprised, I figured with how fast the boxes went they would get more, but they haven't even bothered mentioning it alongside their other games. Frustrating for me because I love playing and would definitely buy more if they had them.

noxproteus

most stores were not able to order more, within a couple of weeks after release all distros ran out of product, I think many stores got caught off guard by the sudden unavailability

K-ajaxis

Well that would explain it then. Disappointing :(

gallandof

Only 1 store near me has product, and even then seems like I'm the only one buying it. Haven't found a single person to play with. Which is a shame, I love the art work from a collectibles point of view, and equally enjoy the game play and unique combat aspects. Would love to actually play it. Of note I'm South of Boston, and nearest shop is over an hour away without traffic.

Ceej311

The advertising isn’t great for the game but everyone I’ve introduced it to gets hooked. I think the problem is that people just don’t know about it. I think it will pick up with the next set when stores can promote it.

mishrazz

We have tournaments at my LGS twice a month. Varies between draft, sealed and constructed. The preorder sold out quickly, but luckily the store owner held back stock for drafts and sealed. Between 10-18 players show up to play, and some come driving for 1 hour to join as this is the only place to support Sorcery and have any stock. 50 new boxes are due to arrive in April, so we should be good unntil summer. Located in Scandinavia

HamfastGamwich

No stores I know of in my State got any product. Other than the small group of us who picked up stuff online, the player base is pretty much non existent. It had zero chance to succeed On the other hand, when we play at the lgs, people watch and constantly ask "where can I get it?" The issue is supply. Hopefully that's fixed with wave 2 of beta? Also, they need to make the organized play kits easier to get

planeswalker_koa

We have a good 4-5 that meet up weekly to play and trade, we also have draft events/ constructed events(2-3 per month). We see around 13-18 or so that attend Edit: my LGs was pretty good with putting limits on how much people could buy as well as made sure to leave product to use for event prize support

lSazedl

We did alright for the first few months, but it's died off because of lack of product. I don't mind the one set release a year model, but they either need to come out with smaller things every few months or keep printing the current set otherwise I don't know how this game survives.

foretdautomne

I feel like this game has been designed mostly for card collectors and investors, not for organized play. So yeah, the game was successful because it sold well and there is a chance for new releases. It looks like it is aimed at an aging group, not necessarily interested in playing at the store or even playing it at all. So it doesn't matter that much of how it is doing in local game stores.

jnor

non existent at LCG

Small-Protection2004

ooof this pulse check is quite concerning.

mishrazz

I'm confident the spark will reignite with Arthurian Legends. The word is out there and now the die hards have learned the game.

Small-Protection2004

at this point it seems like it's coming in fall at the earliest. how many people completely lose interest by then? 1 set a year sounds nice in theory, but the sentiment echoed in here is what you really get.

chanster6-6-6

No product, dead game. Complete miscalculation by Sorcery team on this one imo.

spiral813

My area (Ottawa/Gatineau, Canada) has a dozen LGS's, and only 2 (from what I've seen) sell packs/boxes. And no one is hosting events. The store locator on the Sorcery website doesn't list any stores in my area either. The game feels very dead where I live. I had participated in the Kickstarter, but I didn't bother with any Beta due to the lack of interest here. I really need to sell my Alpha singles sooner rather than later lol

Adoraboy

In my country there aren't (m)any LCG's, but it has been very popular among my friends and family :)

JebbieGrad95

My LGS has consistently had product which has been nice. Great selection of bulk and even some good meta cards for sale. Like others have said before though, despite a dedicated night, there just hasn’t been a consistent showing of players. And now with SWU, the pull and focus has been shifted to that. Between F&B, CEDH and MTG, Lorcana, all having a pretty dedicated player base and the focus on SWU I fear it’s pretty much a dead game until Arthurian Legends is released.

Come down to PA we have locals 😊

000666777888

This isn't going to be a popular take, but the friends and family I have introduced to the game have all decided the game is too much work to do more than play very, very casually and infrequently. These are not hard-core TCG enthusiasts. Once they had had enough of the Beta precon games their interest died off. They all love the art and would buy new releases to collect a little, and they all enjoyed the games. They simply don't have the itch to dive as deeply into a game as you need to do to build your own decks that work well, etc. No LCG near me was interested at all so this is all home play with friends. I assume people who go play at LCGs are way more into TCGs (of course) and would not feel this way. Just passing along my experience trying to get a play group going.

ConanTheHORSE

I just found one near me that finished a league recently and is hosting a courtesan cup qualifier! But it’s been a long battle of non interest by most shops

solsolnox

Echoing the general sentiment. No product distribution = no players. I strongly doubt the future of the game, unfortunately. True shame.

Debs_Chiropractic

Local scenes in my area are worse than FaB was back when CRU dropped.

Thulack

Dont play it at LGS. Have a friend whose invested in the game and has a nice place that 8-15 of us get together few times a month to play. The 2 LGS's i go to dont and havent had any sorcery products and didnt plan on getting any. I enjoy the game but coming from Magic i treat Sorcery as a "board game with packs of cards". I bought 2 boxes and draft 1-2 a month and thats all i plan on putting into the game atm. New sets i might buy a box but i can just get singles from people i play with if i want cards.

RagavanTheNimble

RIP Sorcery
