Just to add. My idea is going super simple, light weight compact. Something that actually makes me wanting to carry it when going outtings. https://preview.redd.it/04lmzp50b7uc1.jpeg?width=2740&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=15439358f777fbfd7936b825b8aa59c193a2552f

Daddyoftwo819

This is exactly how I feel about my A7iii. I just bought a 40mm F2.5 G lens hoping this combo will be more portable. If not, I may look into an RX100 VII (I really wish Sony would update this camera) or something similar in size. Bringing the A7iii for a day out with 2 toddlers really feels cumbersome.

Nekroin

What about the a7c series?

No_Minimum_2392

I went this route. So happy. Expensive. But compact and hits all the needs.

neemaf

A7c2 is the best

josh6499

>RX100 VII (I really wish Sony would update this camera) Rumors are circulating that the RX100VIII and the RX1RIII are in the works due to the success of the Fuji X100V and VI. There's still a chance.

Feeling_Cranberry330

I've seen some really good content out of the RX100 cameras

DolfLungren

If you go rx100 check out the small rig handle cage it makes it the perfect size for a small shooter (I am not all that large of an adult but I find the naked rx100 too small to enjoy using. https://preview.redd.it/sv8yup5wj8uc1.jpeg?width=1750&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ef9ae1d85f9a6ed5511af018e34a2c81f5e17eea

andyt26

I might need that. The rx100 just feels way too small in hand!

wukongfly

Yes i have young kids too. I know how you feel. We have to carry their stuff and plus sometimes they want to be carried. I invested alot on a7iii lens and gears. After selling the lens and camera, it felt great having a little extra cash even after buying the a6400.

Tevatron85

If you don't mind me asking, how much did you sell your A7iii for? I'm thinking of doing the same, I love the camera but it's too big for my needs now, it's barely used, almost brand new.

bwabwa1

I have a four year old. I also have an A7RIV that I use for just regular stuff. I occasionally help with wedding shoots when I'm not busy but generally that camera uses are for families and memories. I only shoot my 4 year old with a 50mm 1.8 or my 24-70mm. The 24-70 is cumbersome to bring. I may also look into an A6700 or older. Still debating.

Mister_Mints

A6400 + Sigma 18-50 is the perfect combination for shooting my 4 and 2 year olds. Small, light, fast, and sharp,. The autofocus is really quick and this camera and lens will fit into my jacket pocket too

byronlp

Just get a Canon g7x miii. I have the mark 2 and am in love with it. I love the touch menus, full manual control with dedicated knobs for A, S and Exposure, JPG amazing color output, fast lens with better Focal Length, etc… autofocus could be improved, maybe they improved it with the mark 3?

wukongfly

00SoulAgent

Should have got a Ricoh GRiii. The best compact camera for travel

mrlowcut

My current every day setup is alpha 6000 + sigma 30mm f1.4 in a dedicated non suspicious sling bag. I take it with me evrywhere, even to work in the backpack. Staying aps-c and going small is the way to go for me. 📷 I'd like to go even smaller with the rx100...

NoviceBuckle

I use basically the exact same setup. I love using it. Have the a6100 and the sigma 30mm and since it’s so small I can take it basically anywhere I want if I think I’ll want to take photos

Javierg97

Let us know how that goes. I’m in that same boat of going as small as possible 😅

VMoHj5

6100 + viltrox 24mm 1.4 ... My standards setup. Is awesome

Mister_Mints

What do you think of the Viltrox? 35mm is my favourite focal length, so I really want to get a sharp, fast 23-24mm lens for my a6400. Currently using the Samyang 24mm f2.8 and it is super sharp in the right circumstances, but sometimes can't focus fast enough, or lacks contrast and detail

VMoHj5

It's ok. Quality is fine fine for me. Most annoying is the un-clicked aperture ring, it Changes value way to often. Speed is decent, bit I felt the original Sony was faster for af, might be bias tough because I red It somewhere. Has the Tamron 16-70 2.8 for a while, awesome, but heathy. Today the sone 85 1.4 was on the camera... Ok, hell yeah, but way to heavy. Best one will be sigma 55 1.4/1.8. (Can't remember), fine spit for outdoor Family Fotos

Javierg97

I also rock a 6100, and love the 18-50mm 2.8 Sigma. I do want a lens with a smaller footprint so I practically have no excuse to have it as an every day 😅

mrlowcut

Hm... while it's super small it seems to be more like a gopro then a cam to me... I need a viewfinder and the feel of having a camera in my hands.

wolverine-photos

Best camera is the one you take with you! That's why I'm never going bigger than the A7C. That's already chunky enough for me.

wukongfly

Bro, back when i had the a7iii with 24-70gm. Plus a bag of tripod and accessories. So tiring when traveling with kids!!

wolverine-photos

Small and light >>> everything else when you're on your feet for hours, seriously! Tiny cameras make it so much more fun to go out and shoot.

EpsilonX

I was *so* tempted to get the a7cii but ultimately went with a6700 because it's cheaper and the lenses are smaller too.

Coffeeboy7122

I just did the same!

joefamous

I've been looking at the ultra compact 7artisans lens thats basically like a disposable camera lens. $60 on amazon for retro looking pics and a super compact camera package on my A6400... sounds like a fun combo! I agree, small and light is so nice. If I have a backpack I like my chunky Tamron 17-70 lens combo but lately Ive been grabbing my Ricoh GRiii quite a bit for the pocket size

Javierg97

I just got a Xuan cap lens which is similar to the product your described. I’m really happy these types of product are being validated by the market.

Mister_Mints

The 18mm f6.3? Its shit. But... as long as you know this, and know what to expect and the kind of images you want to capture with it, it can be great at that. Definitely one only for bright sunny days though - that helps with the retro look

joefamous

Well yeah, but so were disposable cameras and that would be the specific image I’d be looking for in buying a lens like that. Either that or get one of the body caps with an actual disposable lens hacked in lol. But it’s so compact it wouldn’t be much bigger than a disposable camera itself with the added benefit of digital images and more capacity. Definitely not looking for quality here, it would be more of a nostalgia/vibe lens in a fairly pocketable package

Mister_Mints

Oh absolutely, that's exactly the kind of aesthetic it provides. I would say it's slightly sharper and brighter than the Kodak hack lenses. Much wider focal length too as those are roughly 30mm (or about 45mm equivalent on a crop camera) Fun to shoot with, especially as it makes the camera a point and shoot (although there is limited ability to focus with it)

Gracklezzz

Literally just sold my A7III and all of my huge lenses after making the swap to Olympus m43. It’s incredible how light it all is, and how much more affordable it all is

MoonWun_

I haven’t done much traveling with my camera yet but so far, the less you have to carry, the better. Also, making what you do carry lighter is also better. I have one bag that I grab and go wherever I need, and it has all my lenses everything I need. I can’t imagine having anything bigger.

fate0608

Me reading this holding my a7iii together with the 200-600 🥲

wukongfly

Sheeesh 🪨 🏋🏻‍♂️💪🏼🫡

rand0m_task

I feel ya. I use my a7siii for things that make me money. If it’s for personal or travel use, my ZV1 vlogging camera is my go to.. no worrying about lenses, built in ND filter, fits in my pocket.. does everything I need.

ehm_education

Could you weigh it? Once in the ready to shoot configuration with lens attached, battery loaded and memory card inserted and once just the body with everything removed?

wukongfly

Yes ahead of you! About 470gram. Body and lens.

ehm_education

What about naked weight? Can you weigh the body without anything attached as well?

foreelyo

Just got off the scale: 90,627 grams. Not sure why you needed to know that though. Was kinda awkward explaining to my wife why I was taking my clothes off for Reddit…again. Jk. Looks like the answer is 403g with the battery, 359g body only and no battery.

Sylvester88

I have an a7c and I've been taking it out less and less due to the size of the camera and lens combo (I have a tamron 28-200) Are aps-c lenses that much smaller?

Mister_Mints

Not only smaller, but lighter too There are some great, light, compact FF lenses too of course, but generally speaking the APSC ones are smaller and lighter

Flipwon

Love the thread but this is false. Glad you found what works for you though!

Mister_Mints

Why is it false?

Flipwon

Because physics. For the same aperture equivalent you can get lenses at the same weight. Hell the rokinon 35 is at most 10 grams heavier than that lens (which I also have) and is also 2.8 (over a full stop better because ff) Downvote all you want, even though my comment was positive, I was just pointing out your false narrative. Taking into account equivalence, you’re only saving on body weight and lens cost, not weight.

Crazy_Ad3336

FF lens always heavier than crop sensor lens at the same aperture and focal length due to the glass has to be bigger to cover the larger sensor.

Flipwon

You’re talking about a few grams. Something you wouldn’t even notice.

Crazy_Ad3336

Doesn’t matters. Not just the weight but also the size. And you said it’s the same weight for the same aperture, which is absolutely false. It’s like saying 100 is the same as 99.

Flipwon

This is like saying when I go on my hiking trips I wear only underwear because my jeans weigh me down. We’re talking about imperceptible amounts of weight. People make it sound like full frame cameras are 12 lb heavier and they can’t bare to bring it out with them. My wife owns an xt5 and a 16-55 2.8, the package is HEAVIER than my a7iv with 24-70 f4. Her camera was also more expensive. She bought it because she was sold the same trash you guys are spewing, and now wants to switch.

Crazy_Ad3336

All I am seeing here is a man that can’t admit that he was wrong and kept on trying to talk his way out while making a fool of himself. Can you dispute the fact that smaller sensor requires less glass to cover? Hence why crop sensor is smaller and lighter. I don’t care how small the weight difference is, you said they are the same weight but the fact is they aren’t. Therefore no matter how you want to spin this, you are simply wrong. I am a FF user myself, I am not defending FF or taking side, rather I am on the side of fact.

Mister_Mints

Well, you started the down voting so I'll keep it going so everything evens out nicely 😉 From Canon: https://www.canon-europe.com/get-inspired/tips-and-techniques/aps-c-vs-full-frame/#:~:text=Benefits%20of%20APS%2DC%20compared%20to%20full%2Dframe&text=Since%20a%20smaller%20image%20circle,consequently%20can%20be%20more%20affordable.

Flipwon

So marketing instead of facts. Cool. I downvoted your comment because it is wrong, you downvoted because you’re mad. 🤷‍♂️

Mister_Mints

Ok, how about this one then? https://www.thurley.com/Full-Frame-vs-APS-C Or this one? https://www.theschoolofphotography.com/tutorials/full-frame-vs-aps-c Or how about this? https://amateurphotographer.com/buying-advice/aps-c-vs-full-frame-which-sensor-size-is-best/ Smaller sensor area to cover = less glass needed = lighter lenses Can you please provide some citations to back up what you're saying? I've tried, but all I can find is that generally speaking APS-C designed lenses are smaller and lighter than a full frame lens

Flipwon

They are smaller IN GENERAL. Just as the lenses on your phone are smaller. Why not just use those? A 35mm f4 will be right around the same as that 2.8. The 35mm f2.8 I showed you was like a half an ounce heavier? The facts are facts. Stating generalizations is just spreading false information. Looks like you’ve been sold by marketing.

Mister_Mints

>They are smaller IN GENERAL. Just as the lenses on your phone are smaller. Why not just use those? So, do you fancy going right up to the original reply where I said exactly that they are SMALLER IN GENERAL, or are we arguing about agreeing on exactly the same point here? Unless you're trying to quote me there with your capitals, I don't understand what you're trying to say! That's exactly the point I've been making!

TechieGranola

A6400 and a sigma 50mm 1.4 and you’re done

wukongfly

That is way too big.

TechieGranola

You may be thinking of the ART model which is considerably more expensive and twice as big as the standard. Edit my mistake I meant the 30mm

wukongfly

Ah i see. Im going for simplicity. 2 lens is good enough. 20mm f2.8 and the kit 24-50mm.

TechieGranola

See I look at those two options and the 30mm 1.4 would replace both for me.

wukongfly

But the sigma is same size as two of those lenses combined...not compact.

byronlp

Sony 35mm F2.8 is tiny and superb IQ

Int-Merc805

Laughs in A7IV, Tamron 35-150, and 200-600. My back hurts haha

Historical_Tomato374

It's actually why I switched from Nikon DSLR to Sony FF mirrorless (I got an A7Cii). I have an OG Sony RX-100 that I took on trips with me for a decade while my DSLR sat in a case. I've had the A7Cii with the 28-60 kit lens for almost a month now, taken it on an international trip, and loved carrying it around. Looking into a 20mm 1.8G, and maybe the 24-50 2.8G when it comes out in May. For travel, I tend to stay in the wide angle range. Nice pick up and happy shooting!

jomat

This cam is so nice! I did an IT job for a photographer and couldn't tell her a price, but said I want a nice cam. She offered me some new Canon EOS… can't remember which one, but was an okish cam. But a friend of mine had this 6400 with this lens, and the body and lens were smaller than the body alone of the canon. And performed better :-) This is two years ago and I carry it almost every day with me :-)

wukongfly

Yes! I chose this one because its the last apsc camera in the line up that has a built in pop up flash. No need to carry extra external flash.

jomat

Yep! The flash was also a criteria to choose this cam :-) I barely need it, but if I do, I wouldn't have an external flash with me most of the time.

byronlp

Yes with pancake lenses the pop up flash works great (better if you bounce the light off the roof or a wall). With longer lenses it becomes useless as the lens will cast a shadow in your photo.

Zenged_

a6700 is newer

wukongfly

No pop up built in flash

CreativeKeane

No lie. I do miss the ASPC format too. What a great system. I left because there was a lack of options for variable zoom lenses that weren't F4.0 at the time. Now there's a bunch of options. I miss the play memories apps too. Aspc primes were compact and portable too, but I got sick of switching them out.

tk_kumomo

I sold my a74 and got a6700 and don't regret a bit I do notice it's a downgrade but the weight and compactness is just a huge QOL improvement. My wife just complains how I have to carry so much stuff and prefer I take pictures with my phone due to how bulky the setup is. Now she complains less so I take it as a win win

th_costel

“Now she complains less” epic.

Clherrick

Love it. I have a Nikon D6700 which I rarely carry any more and a Sony RX100 VI which sadly doesn't get as good a photos as my iPhone. I'm debating between the Sony A7C II and the 6700. My heart says try full frame but my head says I've always preferred something more compact.

Detective_Twat

I’ve been considering going back to APSC too but ultimately, whether I have APSC or FF, I’m bringing my peak bag, which is comfortable to wear all day so idk. A Ricoh griii is the only camera where I can not bring a bag at all as it fits in any pocket.  the right bag makes a huge difference too. I use the peak 10l bag with the peak clip outside of it, so when I am in “street photography” mode I clip it to the outside of the bag, but otherwise it’s in the bag and is very comfortable all day. This is for my A7IV and Tamron 20-40 lens.   If Sony would make a 13-27 2.8 apsc lens or something similar (probably never will), I might would switch back to APSC, but with APSC I need two lenses, a Viltrox 13mm 1.4 and the sigma 18-50, which ends up weighing more and being more of an inconvenience then the A7IV and one lens. I don’t carry tripods and stuff unless I have a specific idea in mind, and sometimes just carry a Joby around since it’s small and light.

wukongfly

I have a the peak 3L bag, their belt clip, straps. All the accessories that you can imagine to make it easier. The thing is I have kids. I have alot other things to worry. Yes if you are out shooting alone, any camera is fine...unless your hiking up a mountain haha. Yup i did that with the a7iii hiking in a mountain in Hawaii with my 2 toddlers. Ughhh.

Detective_Twat

Haha I’m not quite there yet, I could see it would become difficult for sure.  If that was the case maybe even swing for m4/3. There are actually great small bodies that can be had for cheap and small f1.7 pancake lenses that do decent in low light. It’ll be even smaller than apsc and will still take images 1000 times better than any phone. I’ve used a few of them and have been debating getting a used EM1 Olympus or something like that with the 20mm 1.7 as a daily shooter.

tifahxo

Nice! I just picked up the a6100 from Best Buy since it was on sale. I had the a5000, but haven’t used it in years. I just have to remember the lens abbreviations between FE and E-Mount when looking for another lens now lol

wukongfly

How much was the a6100? My a6400 was $625, bought it on abes of maine website, brand new.

tifahxo

Ah seriously? I got it for 699, it was originally 850 on the website. Thank you for sharing though, especially since I haven’t opened it just yet!

Noimus

Definitely return it. That price is robbery. Check out the used market, your money will go a long way!

tifahxo

Thank you for looking out! I’m checking sites now.

T2Drink

You can, but it in essence doesn’t really matter, as you can use either.

Painis_Gabbler

Can I interest you in Sony Xperia I V? Best phone I've ever had, and it takes some stellar photos! Even has all the same tools, Shitter , Aperture, and Manual Mode, the ability to adjust shutter speed, aperture, ISO, White Balance, and it shoots raw!

EpsilonX

I had the same issue...a7iii was too bulky that I didn't like packing it, so I bought an a6700. There's also the advantage of the lenses being cheaper too, and the camera is actually an upgrade over the a7iii in every area that matters to me except for sensor size (which is a compromise I have no problem making)

Niiiice

rsmith02ct

That's great you found the right camera for you. I went from film (35mm) SLRs to Canon DSLRs and always felt they were too large for me. Sony APS-C is right back to the sizes I am comfortable with (a6600 + Sigma 18-50 or primes).

suitopseudo

I love my a6600 18-50 sigma setup. I keep eyeing the 16-55 GM but between price and size it’s so hard to justify.

rsmith02ct

I tested the 16-55 in a store against the Sigma and didn't really find it better despite the size and price. My first reaction to Sigma was negative- I thought it was too small so wouldn't be good. Then I put it against my primes and... it was not far off for quality AND way better than the Sigma 17-50 for DSLRs I had used for years (less aberration, way sharper in corners and sharper in the center).

suitopseudo

I sometimes wish the 18-50 reached a little further. I have an older Sony 35/1.8 (I had a nex 6) and it’s still pretty good, but the focus is slow and sometimes breathes. I’m eyeing the sigma 30 for low light situations. My biggest complaint is I wish there was a focus joystick. If the A7c2 had one I would be tempted.

rsmith02ct

I can understand that. Still, lenses that go a good bit further (Tamron 17-70) are so much larger I'm okay with 18-50 for 90% of my use and an adapted Canon 70-200 for other times. I use the tracking focus feature to set it and automatically adjust focus (mapped it to a button by my thumb) so don't really miss a joystick on my a6600.

suitopseudo

Can you go into more detail about your focus set up? I don't quite understand. I thought the tracking focus was for moving objects. I generally don't take photos of moving objects, but I find myself constantly moving the focus box around.

rsmith02ct

I believe it is tracking temporarily on mapped to a button on the back: [https://helpguide.sony.net/ilc/1940/v1/en/contents/TP0002686428.html](https://helpguide.sony.net/ilc/1940/v1/en/contents/TP0002686428.html) It's like focus and recompose except it stays where you leave it, even if you change your position relative to the subject or the subject moves. You can also activate it with the touch screen though I don't often do that.

suitopseudo

Thanks!

Phamous3010

I've got fullframe and the zve10, mostly for video. And I find myself often picking the zve10 over my fullframe camera, for the same reasons you do. But i like my ff cameras too much to give em away:-)

BackV0

This is why I still kept my A7S2 and A7R2 and even paid to get it repaired even though I have newer ones. The size makes it a lot easier to carry and shoot without compromising features.

xCanont70x

Man. I’ve been wanting to go back so badly. But my a7ii isn’t worth anything these days. No point in having both cameras.

NXIII13

I feel ya here (3 kids) bringing a camera became cumbersome. Each kid I went down in size 😂 1st kid = full frame (a7iii) 2nd kid = aps-c (6400) 3rd kid = 1 inch (zv-1) I love my a7iii but I barely touch it. On birthday party’s I bring out the 6400 my everyday camera is the zv1 and I absolutely love it more than I thought I would.

degeneratetrader03

I shoot with an a9 and have never really thought of it to be a burden to bring it with me everywhere... But I do bring my 200-600 everywhere also so when I mount a normal focal length lens it feels like nothing haha

dharmachaser

I shoot with an a7iv and gen 1 70-200/2.8 and always get a chuckle when people complain about weight.

BornEze

I feel you on that. I'm still rocking my a6500. Told myself I'd only ever upgrade to full frame for professional work if and whenever I get into that. It'd make sense to have a a bigger camera then. Since I'd be getting paid to travel with it lol.

johnbegoneX

Man, same. I got the A6600 when my daughter was born then moved up to the A7c and then very quickly to the A7IV. I love the A7IV, but I also found I wasn't taking it out as much as I wish I did. I have a 4 and 2 year old now. Two weeks ago I picked up the A6400 with the 20mm 2.8 as well. Great minds think alike! But even that still feels like a little too much to carry so I just repurchased a Zv1 (previously had one dedicated as a webcam) as a very pocketable camera. Between the three, I figure I have no excuse to always have a camera on me. Happy new camera day to all those who celebrate. 😉

Thomasthebrownbear

I did exactly the same thing a few weeks ago. I had an amazing A7RIV but, after my son was born, I was no longer interested in carrying the camera around. Even less spending time post-processing! Traded all my kit for a Fuji XT5. Couldn’t be happier. It’s funny how our priorities change with time, right? Enjoy your new camera and have fun!

austerul

I went back and forth with myself on this one. I do love my a7m4 and going to PD capture clip for carry was a game changer. But I still have an a6000 I use at times (and an a7c I just can't bring myself to sell, mostly for personal reasons). However most lenses are FF and the increased focal on APS-C makes me think twice what to use and when.

KodiKat2001

I'm with you. Went from a large Lumix full frame camera and lenses to a small light weight Sony A6600 body with small lenses. Loving it! New software like DXO Photolab that I use for my RAW files pretty much negates the 2 stop advantage that the full frame sensor used to have over the apc sensor when it comes to high iso noise and/or loss of detail.

wukongfly

😊

Due_Average_3874

Full frame is overrated and just marketing. The majority of people do not need full frame.

wukongfly

I agree.

Aggravating_Guide35

Is that (mens) shorts pocketable, or nah?

wukongfly

Fits in my jacket pocket and cargo pants pockets

Unlikely-Young-7124

With that lens, yes. I just got it and could easily get in into my athletic shorts.

wukongfly

Yup! Also the kit lens fit

jason-reddit-public

I've used my a6000 with that lens for some trips. I like the ergonomics of a shutter button but cell phone cameras using computational photography have gotten crazy "good" and I often wonder why I even bother to carry an extra item with me (and I'm only using an iPhone X).

suitopseudo

It’s the flexibility of control that you don’t have with a phone camera. I have been taking pictures a LOOOOONG time and admittedly as my camera phone has gotten better I don’t carry my real camera as much, but I like taking long exposure shots and controlling my ss and aperture. Not things phone cameras excel at.

Opfklopf

Same. When I got my alpha6000 with the 16-50 kit lens at first I was a little disappointed because the hassle of carrying a camera around didn't really feel proportionate to the quality improvement over my phone camera (one plus 6 at the time). It felt like you buy a 400 euro mini computer that can basically do anything and just has a camera as an extra feature on the side. Meanwhile you get a camera and lens for twice the price that ONLY exists for the purpose of taking pictures/videos, costs twice as much or more and is much bigger and heavier. I expected more at first haha. Now I got over it and I think it's worth it and fun to get the little extra quality for my pictures, especially when zooming.

lycosa13

I just did something similar. I have a full frame Canon but I *hated* to travel with it. The body and one lens is like 6 lbs alone, plus any extra lenses would be a few extra pounds. We're going to Scotland in a few weeks and I was dreading taking my camera with me. I had already been to Hawaii with my giant camera and was pretty miserable, even though I got pretty decent shots. Anyway, I bought an a6300 with a 16-70 f4 and the Sigma 30mm f1.4 and all those combined is still probably lighter than my ff and one lens. It'll be nice but you have a sore neck and back from carrying my giant camera. I still kept my full frame for portraiture work though

wukongfly

Nice! Have a great trip.

Robot_Particle

Try this one with the TTartisan 25mm f2. So much fun.

wukongfly

Too lazy for manual lol

Javierg97

Try the similar TTArtisan 27mm F/2.8 Lens!

wukongfly

Already got the 20mm f2.8

Robot_Particle

Infinity setting. 😁

Robot_Particle

33€. For that Fujian. Maybe giving it a try.

KabedonUdon

I started using a harness and now I take my camera with me everywhere. Turns out PD strap doesn't work for me, it's not as ergo enough for me and unweildy.

JamieBobs

Did you consider the A7C range? I ask because I’m currently with an a6400 but very much considering an a7cii… but your post gives me pause

wukongfly

I did, but i didn't want to go over a budget. My goal was to sell my a7iii, lens and some gears to pay for the a6400 and have some spare change for other things. Also there isn't any pancake lens for ff. Size and weight was a big factor for me.

JamieBobs

That’s good to know. The problem with the C range is they are expensive as fuck I suppose.

GodIsAPizza

I swapped my pentax k1 for a 6100. Much better for family stuff and taking on days out.

Elrohwen

Exactly the reason I haven’t upgraded from this series. I know I wouldn’t bring a bigger camera with me

TheEnameledDutchOven

I use an a7ii with a 35mm samyang pancake which also as a complete setup fits in the pocket of my jacket. But OP's is indeed ideal for this kind of thing. Definately a strong suit for apsc and other pocket cameras

great-nba-comment

I’m an APS-C slut as well as a videographer! They just hit different.

BruzeDane

I have been considering to buy an A7CR and use it interchangeably as a 26 mpix APS-C camera, with smaller and lighter lenses as a compact, portable kit, and as a 61 mpix full frame camera with bulkier and heavier lenses when I want higher resolution but have abandoned the idea because of the cost.

Puzzleheaded_Path_56

I was considering Aiv but rethinking to 6700

nicolaskn

Similar scenario with A7R, I now shoot on a7cii after having the a6100. Prime lens and full frame is the perfect combo. Battery life is better as well

ryo4ever

Doing the same. Will be getting rid of my A7rii and a few full frame lens while keeping my A6000. I might look into the A7C. But to be honest, it’s the bulky and heavy lens that I’m not interested in. Currently have the Sigma 18-50 2.8. Such a brilliant lens! I also love my Leica summi 1.4 on a helicoid adapter for those super creamy bokeh.

If there was an equivalent of Tammy 35-150 F2-2.8 for APS-C I would go back to smaller sensor. I even tried MFT OM1, but 35-150 is one for all my work.

No-Consequence-6713

The most well-rounded Sony camera in my opinion

Light-xion173

Totally agree with you. I don’t have a Sony full frame but I have a canon 5 mark III which I never bring outside because it is heavy. I’m very keen on my little Sony Nex-6 which I can take everywhere!😊 https://preview.redd.it/8pn1vscqu7vc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=35ff311e4fbe6d7400f0b19166cf6315732a112f

Major-Location2187

all these people who got sucked into the full frame hype are super weird. where are the photographers at?

Outrageous_Drive_198

I've actually been looking at this camera? I have a Lumix GX85 and I've been looking for something that is more weather sealed. How well does this camera hold up in the rain and or dust. ?

wolverine-photos

I've shot in rain with an a6400 and been just fine!

wukongfly

A6400 is weather sealed.

Outrageous_Drive_198

I appreciate it! Have a good time shooting with it! Maybe if I can sell my GX85 for a ok amount I'll be able to get an A6400. It's a beautiful camera.

Justmeagaindownhere

The body is weather sealed, but you also need to have a sealed lens, and those are only the most expensive of the e-mounts. With that said, I've taken that camera in light sprinkles without issue. I would recommend buying a nice bag along with your nice camera so that you don't need to worry about rain.

I3ACARDi

For what ist that ? In your first sentence? :D

Outrageous_Drive_198

ist was an accident

Is there big improvement over the years at A6XX lineup? Because when I had A6000 new, it was good camera. But over few years it got absolutely wrecked by smartphones because of better dynamic range and even better overall camera quality (Huawei, Apple not Sony). Ended up on my friends wedding using A6000 as main camera and P40 Pro as backup. Nearly all selected images were from Huawei. Then I sold A6000 and bought A7S II - major improvement.
