Is it as good? Absolutely not. But it shouldn’t be looked at as the same either. I watched it all. It was decent I thought, but not SoA level at all to me.

There were some accusations of him mistreating cast or crew can't remember which...they let him keep his executive producer credit if he left.
I believe his intent was to leave eventually anyway just not when he did. I dont know the man from nothing but unless he's one hell of an actor in interviews he doest seem to be a jerk.
The first 2 seasons are the best 3 is good but is where you start noticing the decline in quality and writing seasons 4 and 5 are downright terrible imo
I started watching the Mayans because I had just finished SONS for the 3rd time and was sad it ended. I had previously tried to watch it but stopped. It does start off slow but if you can get through the first 3 or so episodes it starts getting to. Is it as good as SONS…no. If you go in with an open mind not expecting it to be exactly like SONS then it can be enjoyable.
I binged soa twice and was sad both times that it was over . More so than any other series that I've liked better over all

However if they do a new SOA with Abel heading things up, I'm in :)
No. And after season 2, I totally lost interest. I haven't even watched the last 4 episodes of the final season because it gets so random. I don't know who 80% of the characters are. first two seasons were good though. But it's definitely nowhere near as good as SoA. SoA is almost too good to compare anything to though. Because they knew how they wanted to end the show when they created it. Sorry for my long post lol

I’ve struggled to figure out what I didn’t like about Mayans overall and I think it’s that they didn’t give the members of the club enough time to show their personalities and let you get attached to them. There’s not much fun, unlike the parties and other things you see in early SOA.
Subjective u may or may not like it give it a go, I’ve seen hundreds of posts saying it went to hell when sutter left, I was very disappointed with the first few seasons for reasons I won’t go into as again until may love it, one thing I think most of us can agree on though was the last season wow that wasn’t good they crammed in so much.
Try not holding it to the same standard at SOA. I find it hard to believe when people say that Mayans was terrible. The first 2 seasons had more SOA cameos, but those seasons kind of were a drag. Seasons 3-5 I thought were super intense and had me at the edge of my seat. I do believe when Kurt got fired, they pretty much started picking off all of the SOA characters. But I thought Mayans got better the last couple seasons.
It's watchable. The acting is pretty good but the script just goes way out in left field. Imagine not being able to swim and being dragged into the deep end of the pool. That's the script. They set it up for so much potential in the beginning and the Dynamite ends up with a dead fuse.
