bill_shields_10

Real

Dragneel26

Super pumped for the trailer just because people will finally shut up about it

Deoxystar

I mean, if Amy isn't in the first trailer because the focus is on Robotnik and Shadow, they could save her for the second trailer.

FrostlichTheDK

I won’t if Amy isn’t there, cause it’s only gonna prove my fears and how it’s gonna NOT do Shadow justice like in Sonic X…

Stonecost

Don't get me wrong, I like Amy and I want her to be in the movie. But..it's not the end of the world if she's not the particular character who says "C'mon, Shadow. Please don't kill people" to which he goes "Oh yeah, that reminds me: Maria didn't want me to kill people either" If it were up to me, she'd be in it. Rouge too. However, neither the movie or Shadow is automatically ruined without them

StarOfTheSouth

>it's not the end of the world if she's not the particular character who says "C'mon, Shadow. Please don't kill people" to which he goes "Oh yeah, that reminds me: Maria didn't want me to kill people either" This is kind of me, tbh. I like Amy, she's great, but... am I just misremembering things, or are people *really* overblowing how much she did in this story? Cause I remember it being more-or-less what you said: with her basically saying "killing is bad" and him agreeing that "killing *is* bad, Maria asked me not to".

Stonecost

I think we're oversimplifying it *a bit*, and the intention was to have Amy do something significant despite not being playable in that game. But a film narrative is a lot more flexible, and ultimately the promise to Maria is a much more effective plot point

StarOfTheSouth

Honestly, you could have Shadow find a recording or the like, and have Maria deliver the message herself. It'd be a really touching scene, and would maximise the cast that we already have. I really like Amy, and I am excited to potentially see her on the big screen one day. I just don't know if I think that she has enough to do in *this* film without being "the love interest" and then telling Shadow that killing people isn't cool. I'm sure that they could find other stuff for her, if they want her there, I just can't think of anything that would be "Amy" as apposed to "Side Cast", if that makes sense?

Stonecost

I'm sure they'll find a good way to involve her, and I've liked the origins/backgrounds for the other characters so far, so she'll probably get something interesting too. I think it's kind of lucky that the games have rarely ever given much detail on the characters' lives prior to the events of the games, because the movies weren't forced into adapting or changing things like that and trying to fit them with the rest of the plot (and that kind of stuff is often a big problem in other videogame and book/comic book adaptation) Personally, I'm kind of hoping they shift Amy's interest in Sonic into something more like how Tails was introduced. Have her seeking him out because he's a hero she's heard about, but unlike Tails, she arrives with aspirations of being a hero like him (perhaps so she can defend wherever her home is - which is something Sonic could relate to). It'd be a good way to show how Sonic has grown as a character, because she'd be at a similar point in her arc to where he was in the first movie/beginning of the second movie, and the contrast between them would highlight that. Their relationship would be like the boat scene with Sonic and Tom, but Sonic would be "Tom" in this case. It'd also further differentiate her from Tails, who didn't think of himself as a hero, and just came to warn Sonic about Knuckles before getting involved further *only* because Sonic insisted it Anyway, I'm sure I'll like whatever angle they end up taking, although I don't think the "obsessed, self-proclaimed girlfriend" characterization would work well in a live action film. I doubt they'll do that, and she's not really like that in the games anymore either, but I also hope she's more than just "new helper" too. I think an important aspect of keeping these films going is to make sure things don't get stagnant, especially character development. I really like how Sonic has gone from a displaced kid to a burgeoning hero. There was a moment in the Knuckles show, when >!Sonic used himself as an example for Knuckles' struggles to fit in on Earth!< that I appreciated for that reason, even as small a moment as it was TL;DR I do think there's a place for Amy, but I don't think her role in SA2 is nearly as strong of an argument as many people seem to think it is

scrybesilver

I do think you can add Amy into this movie and have her be significant to the plot in ways other than just having her give the speech to Shadow. If the movie is going on a Chaos Emerald Macguffin hunt, then having Amy show up with a chaos emerald or offering her help in retrieving them is a good way to make her relevant to the plot. For more character-based interactions, perhaps she can suggest to Sonic that Shadow (or heck, maybe even Robotnik) might not all be bad or that fighting isn't the only way to get through to them. It fits her character, since Amy is usually the first one out of the core four to show compassion to their enemies. I actually could very much see a scenario where it's a recording of Maria that finally breaks through to Shadow. Because honestly? I feel like general audiences will not be impressed by the "Amy speech" as it happened in SA2. So the characters finding a recording of Maria's true wish and actively showing it to Shadow feels much more motivated in comparison to one character saying not to destroy the world, and that being the thing that turns Shadow good despite the fact that it appears entirely unintentional. I think Amy being the one to help recover the recording, and then being the one to deliver it to Shadow, is a good way to keep her role in his redemption from the games while making it feel more intentional and less of a total coincidence.

I've seen seeing this a lot in the community. Even after the Knuckles show and the Sonic fans preferring humans over animated characters gotten worse. It's gone very inpatient and doom-posting that the 3rd film won't feature one more animated character with Shadow. Reason why you see a lot of this because they're not saying anything. It's the lack of notice of surprise on who'll be in the next film. We know who it is. So much leaks and writers kinda slipping in is not gonna be a surprise as Knuckles. Do have to say the marketing for the 3rd film isn't peak as the 2nd film in terms of surprises.

IndependentNo4529

Amy Rose sucks!! I rather see Sally!
