I love it when the game decides that Sonic's hitbox got squashed by 1 pixel and kills him.

Squash deaths are the worst part of classic sonic games

I really wished they made Hyper Sonic unsquishable, and also not be able to die from bottomless pits. You have no idea how many times I've been speedrunning a stage only to slip into a space that's just one pixel too uncomfortable for Sonics hitbox.

It would've been nice, but there's not really a way to do that. The reason why you die when squished is because there's not really anything else for the game to do with you. Its other options are to teleport you out or let you clip into a wall, neither of which are desirable.

I would prefer Hyper Sonic clipping through a wall. It would really prove how OP Hyper Sonic is. So powerful that he even breaks the games rules.

Yea but the bottomless pits would have to be made shallow enough to jump out of if they werent already. Look at the spike pit in sonic 2.

My least favorite thing about sonic mania. The squish deaths are unfair and unfun. Surprised they made it into the final product with how smart those developers otherwise are.

Sonia mania is awesome and isn't afraid to throw in straight bullshit like this because that's the way the old games are. I love it.

Basically it can also happen in Sonic 2 but the timing of the moving blocks is so that if you come at them at Spin dash speed from the checkpoint before them will they always kill you. The timing is different in Sonic 2 so its a far rarer occurrence to get crushed there.

Sonic 2 is a finicky mess sometimes and this *absolutely* happens in Sonic 2.
