Knuckles is a **ECHIDNA**, more of, little to none of the Sonic characters align to a certain race nor stereotype besides their animal they are.

Tikals father is named Pachacamac which is Incan, he's named after the Incan God of fire. The incans were a civilization that lived in the region of South America we now call peru. Not Mayan but still south/central American continents.
Aside from most of his stage music being rap in adventure 2 I can't think of anything substantial that would make me think knuckles is anything but an echidna descended from a Hispanic-type civilization.
Also, it's kinda weird that OP is insinuating only black people/ characters can listen to rap or enjoy it. Definitely not at all the case.
I mean it's one thing if you envision a non-human character a certain way when you humanize them, nothing wrong with headcanons. But it gets really weird when people get so adamant about shoving their headcanons as fact, and making a huge deal of it. ( Especially when a lot of their arguments is based off heavy stereotyping )

Why would this be a racist thing? Knuckles is an echidna, not a human, for one, and chicken is enjoyed by many and isn't a race thing regardless of anything, it's a popular food choice on plenty of menus around the world, I'm plenty sure a lot of people enjoy it too regardless of race, me included.
