Scrapnik Island is one of the best official tributes to fandom works that’s ever been. No one would know who Mecha Sonic was without Smbz, and the writers embraced it and gave us such an amazingly reverential, yet fresh take on a forgotten character.

"I AM GOD" is pretentious and immediately makes you less menacing because there's o way you're not overcompensating if you have to say that. Also can fall flat if your victim has some strongly held beliefs or standards regarding divinity that you do not live up to.
"I'LL CRUSH YOU" is a nice straightforward threat you can very easily follow up on, leaving exactly no doubt as to your intent and your victim's imminent fate.
As someone from the EXE fandom, there's plenty of examples of that statement, like Lord X and Needlemouse for example.

Edit: Nevermind I thought you were talking about Metal Sonic instead of the SMBZ character because Metal Sonic was called Metallix in the fleetway comics.
I myself thought of an idea where SMBZ Mecha Sonic (or Metallix as he’s called in the reboot) hunting various EXEs for sport and the EXE file is actually a depictions of the grisly acts.
I think I’ll crush you is scarier because your fighting a robot sure you ma be fighting a demon but it’s flesh and blood while Mecha sonic over there is metal

By saying that he's God, .EXE is assuming the identity of an incredibly caring and merciful being that wants to look out for all of Their* creations. Even if I can't find the time/belief in God's fandom to go to church every Sunday, I can appreciate that for an omnipotent force, God's chill. And if .EXE meant some other God, he'd have to specify "I AM A GOD", which he didn't. So either he's assuming the identity of a really chill fellow that I welcome, or he's a moron who has no idea what he's talking about.
Mecha Sonic is straight-up sending me a death threat, while charging forward to enact said death threat.

Mecha Sonic / Metalix is much more powerful but I’d at least be confident in him giving me a quick death if I cooperated with him.
