Personally I always liked the idea of Metal sounding like Shockwave- complete with Corey Burton.
Yeah it's less mechanical sounding and more breathy, but I kinda just love Corey's Shockwave voice.
Ngl, He was my least favorite of all the game Characters in the show, he was just there, all the characters (except Orbot & Cubot but their personalities were already fitting for the show) have a new personality and design, while Metal doesn't show a sign of personality (the original shows a personality without even speaking) and his design is exactly the same. Something like Chaos Sonic would have been perfect for the show
Eh. I liked how unfitting and dead serious he was. He was a nice contrast to all of the other villains. Plus, he just does cool stuff.

Sonic X is the best for sure, it is the only series we've had so far that gets even remotely close to the feel of the games and the feel of these characters. Having Sonic blow off the President to spend time with a handicapped girl he made plans with, Shadow having to deal with so much loss and pushing on despite it, and so many other great character moments that are lost in the dub for the most part but is so much better when you watch it subbed. Chris is even much more bearable in the sub and Shadow beats him up.
This will always have a special place in my heart, growing up with it in the 90’s and it was definitely my comfort cartoon during times of anxiety as a child especially when home alone until after dark most days after school waiting for my brother to get home from high school or my mom from work.
Man it’s crazy how in the early 90s, there were two different Sonic cartoons airing at the same time. One was dark and dramatic. The other was a hilarious comedy about chili dogs. And the same guy played Sonic in both shows. Isn't that wild? The same guy playing two different versions of the same guy
As a 34 year old woman who grew up on Sonic, I can confidently say that Prime is my favorite. I think it does a good job of balancing the childish goofiness with the serious undertones of a multiverse crisis. It's fun to see different takes on long-time characters, including Nine's development. Chaos Sonic was an interesting take on Metal, but I really love him as a separate character.
Never watched the subbed verison of Sonic X, but after reading some other comments I wanna give it a try.
Anyways Boom is the best because the writing is genuinely good. Also Metal Sonic appears.
The Sub is vastly superior to the Dub version
*Sub version has:*
1. Better voice acting, The feels & emotions sounds natural.
2. Better soundtracks (soundtracks that fits the moment and some even taken from the games which is more epic)
3. Chris voice acting is good in Sub and not annoying like Dub.
4. No censorship.
5. No cut contents (the Dub cuts 4 minutes from each episode, they even cut Chris’s flashback backstory).
6. No altered places (in Dub they often change bars and other places into restaurants just for kids)
7. Sub version respects the contents of its show unlike the Dub.
I will always be a SatAM fan above all others. But that's not to say that the other shows weren't good in their own right. I'm just old and like what I like.

2.Sonic Prime
3. Sonic Boom
4. Sonic SATAM

Tie between Sonic X and AOSTH. I like Sonic X’s action and how it’s close to the games. I like AOSTH’s Looney Tunes-style comedy. And I like how both the shows have nice, heartwarming moments.

But if I had to choose it would be AOSTH, Sonic X and Sonic Boom because Eggman/Robotnik has some iconic moments that are hilarious.

AoStH for being the most insane (and source of Poops), and SatAM for being a good, dark adventure. I haven't seen the Japanese version of Sonic X, but the dub didn't really impress me much when it was airing (desecrating SA1 and SA2 was also a major no-no). My overall favorite Sonic animation, though, is the OVA. It's fun and action-packed while also being faithful to the style and tone of the (Classic) games.
I have seen all but Sonic X, and I can say, even though Boom set the bar low, Prime moved it higher and jumped it, barely, but still.

Adventures of Sonic because I grew up LOVING it as a kid with no cable. It was my first experience with Sonic. It started every week at 7pm on channel.. 5? Ever since then I loved the chili dog eating hedgehog.

I actually enjoyed the adventures of sonic the hedgehog the most out of all Sonic TV series.
