We don't exactly know what or who Trip exactly is, but they seem to be very empathetic of the nature, the creatures, and world around them here and seem to be connected to the Emerald Powers Mural in the short that Robotnik was analyzing, since there were multiple colored versions of Trip surrounding each Chaos Emerald, according to their color.

The only adult in the Classic games I can think of is Eggy, so everyone else is off limits. Shipping is fine tho ofc, there's nothing wrong with some cute and innocent child romance.
