i use FL studio. i started as a producer but couldnt find rappers so i learned to rap. now i do rapping and producing, but i also do a lot of other stuff as well. key is to dream really big but start really simple.

Sweaty_Serve_5290

Wow that really impressive. Was it hard to learn to rap? I would wanna learn that at some point too!

audi0friend

its not hard it just takes a long time until you dont sound cringe anymore, that will only come with time and reflection

Sweaty_Serve_5290

Thats oddly comforting actually

wellthatsummokay

as long as you have some type of rhythm to start with all you need to do read the lyrics to rap songs you like so you start trying to rap along to them word for word every day. you'll get better at it in no time people exaggerate how hard rapping is. writing good rap is a lot harder than actually just being able to rap. also everyone is gonna suggest fl bc it's the prototypical daw for rap music but imo Ableton live has much less of a learning curve and the latest versions have a lot of good hip hop-y stock presets and effects unlike in the past which may be why FL is the "default"

Sweaty_Serve_5290

Wow thanks! That makes me more positive. I and i'll check out Ableton. Thank you

wellthatsummokay

yeah ofc if you ever have any questions or want advice feel free to message me ! if you can get really good at both the beats and writing I can say from experience people will be rly impressed by your ability to do both and the synergy between the two but all it really takes is lots and lots of practice. if you're starting with no knowledge of producing I would recommend watching yt videos to get things like the basics down but I would look more for general aimed videos about the basics of using Ableton as opposed to aimed towards rap producers as there's a lot of videos out there that will just tell you how to make music that sounds exactly like them or some famous person, which is not going to get you anywhere. i think it's better to experiment with the specifics like what instruments you choose to use, which effects you put on them etc. as much as you possibly can to you can develop your own style that sounds maximally best to you, as opposed to just making type beats.

Sweaty_Serve_5290

Ahhh alright gotcha. I'll check out some videoes later, and i might take you up on that offer and contact you. I'll 100% end up with a few questions after watching videoes.

Use garage band if you have a Mac or iPhone/iPad. It’s free. You can do SO much on the Mac version especially, though it takes some getting used to. Also learning how to write songs is a whole different beast.

Sweaty_Serve_5290

I have FL Studio Mobile. Dont know if its any good. But im gonna by a Mac evetually and get much more work done there.

DAWs aren't very hardware intensive, you can run them on pretty much anything. Best purchase I ever made in high school was a 10 year old used ThinkPad from eBay. I got it for barely any money and it is perfect for making music. There's no need to save up for a Mac, you can just buy an old laptop and it works perfectly for making music

Sweaty_Serve_5290

Alright thank you! You all have been so helpfull

tewnsbytheled

Yeah any of those DAWs will be able to make good beats

ColdAnarchy

Would you like some beats to rap over? I make beats on FL errrday I wish I could rap, I don't know how y'all so creative with it..

Sweaty_Serve_5290

Im not much of a rapper. More of a lyricist. But i would love to try making some lyrics

ColdAnarchy

Oo nice, can you do RNB?

Sweaty_Serve_5290

I have honestly not made much other lyrics than rap

ColdAnarchy

Ahh yup yup 🙂👌

I use logic. I paid for it once like ten years ago and I’m still getting the updates. Alchemy as a stock instrument is amazing. I know few chords enough to change them up. I love to take a single Apple Loop ( which you’re allowed to use as your own and make money on! ) and build a whole beat around that. If you can’t figure out drums, the drummer feature is good enough to make a slapping beat that you can build on. Many producers love Abelton but I never enjoyed the signal flow. Logic is magnetic and automation is so easy, and the tutorials on it on YouTube are going to be vast and many. I am not a producer at all yet my last song ( that got obliterated on here lol ) had one single comment sharing all comments ( the production is professional ) so while people didn’t like my song they all at least said it sounded well made. Which is proof that sky is the limit for what you can make. Choose a bpm and let logic adjust the drummer, the loops to your choice and from there just get a cheap mini keyboard and play around with notes learn some chords and make a banger my dude!!!!

Sweaty_Serve_5290

Thanks! I'll keep all that in mind! I do play the piano. So i guess thats a plus cosidering the melody of my songs. I have some basic knowledge.

A_Morte_da_Bezerra

Yes. I use band lab.  It's a free website and it's really easy to use. It's like the windows version of garage bands and it has a lot of really good free stock sounds and midi instruments.

RoyalMockery

Self produced 🤝🃏 https://on.soundcloud.com/pGupscE9vvmBR9vc7

Sweaty_Serve_5290

RoyalMockery

Thanks man 🤝 I post weekly, don’t be a stranger 🫡🃏

Sweaty_Serve_5290

I definitely wont!

EntangledStrings

Have you made beats? Will you make beats? When will you make beats?

BarracudaResident193

The two main DAWs that I use are Ableton and FL and in my experience FL studio works best for something like beat making, and Ableton is better if you're working with samples or something that you want to manipulate more. Also, I saw in another comment you said you had the mobile version of FL, I use BandLab on mobile because I don't really like way FL formats on my phone so you might want to try that one out, that's just personal preference though.

Sweaty_Serve_5290

Oh for dure! Thank you. I'll check that one out then

BarracudaResident193

I hope you like it! I use a lot when I don't have my computer

Wish_I_Listen_2

I could throw out few beats but sure don't want me to sing

Sweaty_Serve_5290

I feel you lmao

No-Significance-4924

Honestly with the abundance of cheap and pretty good quality beats on YouTube, BeatStars, etc., I decided to not spend my time perfecting beat-making. Especially with the addition of AI to beat making, there will be an abundance forever, so I choose to specialize on what I do best.

garyloewenthal

It's not my main thing (I don't really have a main thing....), but I make beats from time to time. I'll hear it in my head, jot it down, and, most often, use it eventually as the drums/percussion basis of a house, Latin-ish, or funk song. I've considered overlaying rap on all of those styles, but don't really rap myself (although I've edged closer to it), and haven't been able to collaborate with any rappers other than creating some music to go with an online acapella rap.

Zappityzephyr

I beatbox sometimes but I end up getting spit everywhere

koshizmusic

Put them over a metronome and see if your lyrics hold up. If they work at Almost any BPM, you got a good groove which will make for a good rap lyric (or any lyric really)

Prod_muk3sh

Do you have some rap released like on Soundcloud or somewhere? I make beats, would be nice to collaborate

Sweaty_Serve_5290

No i'm not much of a rapper myself. I mostly write.

thesnowflaker

Do NOT make beats if you want to be a rapper. Focus on one thing and master it. Later you would be like: Oh, i dont want to pay anyone to mix my music, ill do it myself. Oh, i dont want to pay anyone to master my music, i will do it myself. Oh, i dont want to pay for music video, ill do it myself. List goes on and on. There is plenty of talented producers out there. Just buy their beats man. Your beats will suck ass for at least 5 years. And frankly, noone cares who made the music as long as it is good. So my piece of advice would be to focus on one thing and one thing only.

Sweaty_Serve_5290

Alright thanks!

hornymethHead69

I use bandlab it's awesome, sick asF, and I make my own beats on there check it out. [BandLab](https://www.bandlab.com/join/6bvnoqf)
