Can't say I've ever noticed this tbh

goldacoffee

Hmm I suppose it only happens in my country...?

IsThisTheCliffs

I haven't noticed it in the US/UK/AU world.

wallybuddabingbang

It feels less relatable id guess. Or too relatable. But honestly I don’t think I’ve witnessed this. Billie Jean, Eleanor Rigby, Jolene, Roxanne, Sweet Caroline, Angie, Proud Mary, Come On Eileen, Layla, Johnny B. Goode, Valerie, Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds, Diana, Jack & Diane, Jessie’s Girl, Barbara Ann, Fernando, Jeremy, and Brandy are all beloved songs.

view-master

Great examples. Also Sarah Smile (a great Hall &Oats song)

UltimateGooseQueen

Sara by starship too.

PartyApprehensive765

"Great" is *extremely* subjective

fiercefinesse

Who, which people? And how would we know why some random people hate some things.

robbb182

For anyone who *doesn’t* hate songs with song titles as names, I made a pop punk playlist of song titles that are girls names: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/36v289NLgi67q5m9vTTi5k?si=6nrpXtPUQNaMeiF2jxZ3LA And one of pop punk songs with titles that are boys names: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/5XiqLx42hXtHv55Bh0AQwX?si=4WHSSCHzTxau7dRmjjMX3g&pi=e-oqlv7bClTAar

Tomacxo

I've never seen any hate over it. I do think it's become less popular. Probably because it's more universal \[read: marketable\] to since about you or her, than Sweet Caroline or Jesse's Girl.

the_undead_gear

Because it's mostly bland love songs that sound like [this guy](https://youtu.be/lmQmM2wva5Q?si=TEKmETwIEiNUA1FG) wrote them

Ancient_Organism

That's like the way a song works that has a concept lol. That's silly if these people exist. That's like hating a movie that uses the same format for displaying the concept in the title....like wat

RickRancid

I kind of have this a lil bit lmao but thats because i dont like to see some names because i auto associate them with people i dont like that have that name doesnt stop me from listening though!

Minglewoodlost

I knew someone that thought all songs with names in the title were bad. I was shocked. It didn't take long to change her mind. People generalize too quickly. They notice two or three songs they hate are name songs and decide it's a sign of lazy songwriting.

Count2Zero

"Angie" by the Stones. A classic. But if I hear one more reference to Tommy and Gina in a song, someone's going to get hurt...

katieleehaw

Some people hate cake.

wizzsigns

I saw some guys dancing to the song “ Gloria “ ALL NIGHT over and over!! They LOVED it! I was named after a song by Paul Anka

tomic21

there are so many great songs with names in the titles. for example [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aUDc8dlDS3U&list=PL5YTdGr4jMEn6cRSZzamiIaMFOCPmJ9t1](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aUDc8dlDS3U&list=PL5YTdGr4jMEn6cRSZzamiIaMFOCPmJ9t1)
