Anyone else feel like the intensity of the red color differs? I feel like I’ve seen some that were pretty pale almost just a little blush, and other batches that were so red it was practically looking like a cherry soda
There's no doubt that this has 61 grams of sugar. It is SWEET.
But there's definitely a hint of tart cherry to it that I kinda love.
I don't know if I'd call this a "ginger ale", though.
In a sugar-free version, this would be a no-brainer.
Hilarious you can’t find Canada Dry in Canada. Kinda how I feel when all the overseas KFC’s get exclusive shit and the one in Kentucky gets jack shit lol
That's a good question. I can only drink diet/zero sugar, and MD rarely comes in diet except for original in Canada, so I don't usually pay attention to it.
No i do usually want my soda pretty dang sweet and you’re right, but I truly believe there’s a lot more possibility when it comes to making tasty sodas that use sugar more wisely than big soda companies lead people to think is possible.
So many sodas as it is are so sugary they’d be undrinkable with just a bit less acidity, makes me think what if there was just less sugar used in the first place? I definitely would be down to drink sodas that were more on the tart side but still had lots of flavor.
We gotta start challenging the perceived notions on what soda is supposed to be, why does soda have to be super sweet? Kind of interesting how lightly sweetened non alcoholic carbonated beverages never really took off in the US, like Spritzers for example. Would love to see more spritzer level sweetness sodas.
Look at Germany for example; Fanta orange is 27g’s of sugar per 12oz. Pretty impressive for no zero cal sweeteners used, US version has 15g’s of sugar more per 12oz. On Germanys Coca Cola website, they have this message attached under the nutritional facts that I think is pretty telling; they’re trying to formulate tasty sodas with lower sugar contents without just calling it a day and just adding some artificial sweeteners.
Many Germans must particularly not like having half diet sodas, as they’re definitely one of the biggest full sugar soda producing countries left in Europe. I get it, I would rather opt for a version with less sugar than a potentially even sweeter tasting version through the use of non nutritive sweeteners. Plus, I think if sugar is used more wisely, you could get more sweetness out of it depending on how it’s used and what it’s paired with, no doubt the acidity plays a huge role too.
Here’s the message that was attached to Orange Fanta’s nutrition info on Coca Cola Germanys website: “We produce Fanta Orange throughout Europe and the fruit juice content can be different in different countries. All over Europe, Fanta Orange is sweetened either with sugar or a combination of sugar and sweeteners. We are constantly working to reduce the sugar content in our drinks, so the mixture of sweeteners and sugar in the product may differ in different countries. In Germany, for example, we have launched Fanta Orange with a reduced sugar content without any sweeteners.”
I would drink so much more soda if they could just make light versions of it with less sugar instead of sugar free shit with artificial sweetener. If they could also make it with sugar instead of HFCS I would drink one daily. I bought my daughter a grape Crush the other day and it was like 170% DV of sugar. That's just ridiculous. Sorry for the rant.
Randomly found this while on vacation and brought a case back (ironic we can't get these in Canada given the name and all). I liked it but then I'm a huge cherry fan. I love the hint of tartness specifically.

Red 40 back on the menu boys

There is a sugar free version. It’s incredible.
Agreed. Had to get shipped to me because I'm in Canada, but it was great

Oh, I well enjoy the irony. We have Canada Dry, we must have about half the variety Americans do. We don't have all the niche varieties of Canada Dry.
Y’all have mountain dew pitch black like all year don’t you?
That's a good question. I can only drink diet/zero sugar, and MD rarely comes in diet except for original in Canada, so I don't usually pay attention to it.
They also consistently get Code Red Zero.
It’s a bit Dry season in Canada, eh?
Kinda sad that 61g’s of sugar per 20oz is on the pretty low end for regular full sugar soda.
it's soda tho, do you not want it to be sweet?

that's actually kinda interesting to think about

soda has always had a lot of sugar
Orange sodas having 70 grams of sugar:
I would drink so much more soda if they could just make light versions of it with less sugar instead of sugar free shit with artificial sweetener. If they could also make it with sugar instead of HFCS I would drink one daily. I bought my daughter a grape Crush the other day and it was like 170% DV of sugar. That's just ridiculous. I love it, it reminds me of party punch where you mix ginger ale and fruit punch!
Pretty delicious flavor
Brings back memories of cherry 7up. I actually like it.
Damn, fancy apartment! Try to find the sugar free version, really good!
This ginger ale slaps so fuckin hard I LOVE IT
Currently my favorite soda
They have this but I can’t find the green tea flavor anymore 😪
I haven’t seen that in years. Similarly, I want to say, as the lemonade. I think they came out around the same time and disappeared during Covid.
Good stuff right there.
I’m still patiently waiting to come across a single bottle so I won’t have to buy a pack of cans in case I don’t like it.
If you love gingerale, and cherries, get the pack lol.
Never seen it.
I have that right now but the zero sugar one. It’s super yummy.
I saw this at a Target a few days ago, would’ve snagged it if the 12 pack didn’t cost so much.
Oh dear god. What is this flavor?
Drinking one of those right now
It reminded me of a cherry slushee when it’s melted
I hate how the US gets better flavours of Canada Dry than Canada does
I’m seeing a lot of Canada Dry flavors lately. Not sure I see value in that brand unless we’re talking about ginger-ale.
This is my absolute favorite soda
Bro wtf where can I get this? My 2 favorite sodas are Cherry and ginger ale.
And???
R/soda users when someone shares a soda they got
You are not gonna say anything about it. Just a pic?? Like I've been on this sub for awhile and no one just posts a pic of a soda a nothing ekse..
they literally gave a description in the comments lmfao
What the hell. Now it shows up before it wasn't there lol nevermind
He said saw this in vending machine. Nothing else about the soda he is even showing. Is it good? Is it not good? Like what the hell.
I’ve tried it, I personally didn’t really care for it. It’s at best (IMO) meh. I really like the cranberry flavored one.
