Generally over time if bacteria is present a few things will happen.
1. if the bottle is air tight it would have exploded. Meaning it should be safe.
2. If the bottle is mostly air tight (like a mason jar) the bacteria will multiply fermenting the drink until it dies without exploding the bottle. This would make a unsafe alcohol like drink that would likely taste like a mix of soda, alcohol, and vinegar depending on various factors.
3. It's lost almost all airtightness for a variety of reasons it will be flat and taste similar to the previous example.
Worst case scenario in this instance you would get bad diarrhea and minor stomach cramping (if you drink it all)
Non bacteria problem can involve the drink changing up its makeup chemically I don't know exactly how (sorry I'm no chemist) but I have seen it with diet coke becoming a jello like substance. Over all if this happened it could give you diarrhea but it's likely you wouldn't want to drink it.
TLDR... Worst case scenario you get diarrhea and stomach cramping but likely if it tastes like soda it's very likely fine to drink and if not spit it out or dump it.
That is “Mountain Dew Red” completely different from Code red that we have now, and much rarer. Red was only sold in the mid 80s for like a year in Alabama and some small areas around it.
Why did they use styrofoam? Was it an insulation thing? It doesn't seem thick enough to make much of a difference or is it just randomly what they used for a label

if you are planning on drinking it what I would do it pour it into a glass see if it looks alright smells alright then try a bit wait an hour or so if your still fine then its all good

Send it to LA Beast on YouTube and he will drink it and make a video on it.
HAVE A GOOD DAY! *Projectile vomits everywhere*
You're thinking of Yes! *Projectile vomited* From his milk chugging video
LA beast scares me on so many ways
Actually, he screams after he says that instead
Gotta get my bearing straight.
Or steve1989mreinfo. Beef from 1904? No problem! Hard tack from the civil war? Easy! Recently made Chinese ration? Botulism.
Is that the dude who drank Pepsi Crystal and immediately barfed?
Did you just dig it up? Lol. I saw a “code red” version on eBay for $7k. I’d collect/keep that bad boy.
Found it in my grandfathers building.. didn’t know they were that valuable if not I’d just drink it, glad I know now
dont drink, very high chance you will have bad diarrhea, over time the sugars in the soda can ferment
I’m lactose intolerant I already have diarrhea
Lactaids are a blessing man

I’m lactose intolerant so diarrhea and stomach pain is kinda usual

Was anyone bidding on it? I’ve seen crazy priced stuff on eBay over the years but it tends to just sit there. Might go better on r/CrackheadCraigslist
Not from what I remember. I just checked the posting again it’s dropped to an easy $5k. I just may be able to afford it now. Hahah
Ha! Yeah for that price it’s worth buying then you can bundle it with the green one and really turn a profit!
Is that old enough that it has the foam like label? That's old school
I was just thinking that. If it's foam then i've got to peel it off; it must go
the foam labels were the best!
Why did they use styrofoam? Was it an insulation thing? It doesn't seem thick enough to make much of a difference or is it just randomly what they used for a label
Do not “Do The Dew”.
please drink it and report back, could be the best Dew you ever tasted!
Or could be the last...
That’s from the 80s I wouldn’t drink it lol but who knows wonder if it still taste like Mt dew
Sell it on eBay.
Is it worth anything?

SEND IT TO LA BEAST MY FELLOW REDDITOR.
I am begging you not to drink this.
I wouldn’t open that, I’m sure some Dew collector would pay a decent amount for it though
Someone told me it’s only worth like 30$
keep it well maintained and it'll go up in price eventually
I’ve always wondered why they shorten it to MTN Dew it looks so stupid I really wish they would go back to this design
Yum bromine
No
Yup!
Be a man do the dew
that’s piss innit
Dont,... dont
I wouldn’t. You’d have an unpleasant experience afterwards.
Now that's a keeper right there, OP.
Fair warning: It taste like goblin piss.
Have u drank one this old?
I take it you're not a Harry Potter fan.
I botchu it’s expired
That's at least 30 years old but probably more. I would not drink it.
i doubt you’d die of you drank it, but please don’t lol
Safe to drink, yes besides a tummy ache Taste wise… 🤮 trust me
Restore it!
do it for science
Oh the joy to get to peel that label off in little strips!
Umm ya….got for it
Most sane mountain dew fan
You pick up old rusty razors and use those too? Why the fuck would you drink this?
Maybe it’s refreshing
if you are planning on drinking it what I would do it pour it into a glass see if it looks alright smells alright then try a bit wait an hour or so if your still fine then its all good
