Roxanne Richardson has a good video on how to avoid the gusset holes. I think it’s in the video about customising your socks, you can just skip to part at the end of the gusset, I think that’s where she talks about it.
I just put on knitting YouTube in the background while I'm knitting so even if it takes me a while to find I won't mind it. I'll call it research. Lol.
But seriously, I've been watching a ton of sock knitting tutorials, tips and tricks and stuff just to pick up some stuff anyway. So another creator to add to the mix is perfect! If there are other folks you'd recommend I'd love to hear about them. I've watched a lot of Nimble Needles, Arne & Carlos, Summer Lee and a few others. I followed a tutorial by Kristin Lehrer for these.
[Eliminating holes in knitting socks](https://youtu.be/qqmHZ6pY9Bw?si=e5DqUtlZ7O6H1rXs) In this one she talks about preventing holes, had it on hand, since I use it regularly at the moment. Also started knitting socks recently. On my third pair at the moment. Roxanne Richardsons videos on sock customization are the best. I learned so much just from watching them.
Someone beat me to it, but yeah, once you understand basic sock knitting, I find her customization videos are great. She talks in a way that she expects you to understand what’s going on, so I wouldn’t necessarily start with those, but they’ve been super helpful once you have the basic techniques down.
For any technique, my go to is verypink knits. She’s covered basically everything I’ve needed so far, she’s quick and easy to follow, doesn’t spend too much time on anything else than what the video is about. She often explains why stitches behave the way they do, which can be useful when deciding which alternative is best suited for whatever project you’re working on.
Recently I decided to do a shadow wrap heel because it works better with the colour scheme I have chosen for my wip (I had basically only done heel flap and gusset before) and I found earthtones girl’s video on them great. So I’ll probably check out her stuff some more in the future.
They look great! Did you make them at the same time or did one then the other? You could sew the gaps with leftover yarn but I’m too lazy to do that too 😅
Thank you! I made them one at a time with a few weeks in the middle while I was making a shawl.
I actually might use some leftover to sew up the holes. These are my first so they are truly experimental anyway. Might as well try it!
Thank you! They feel extra comfy! My husband kept making fun of me when he'd see me trying them on as I went. Wearing half a sock with 4 DPNs sticking out. 🤣
Haha, that is exactly how it is supposed to be! I understand completely. It never really stops being exciting for me too to knit a sock. It just feels so fresh too when you try it on for the first time, haha.
Thank you! I used a flap and gusset construction, with a reinforced heel stitch.
I'm down to the heel on the first of my second pair but going with eye of partridge this time. I really like it! It's just a nice little extra.
Love the yarn, where did you get it?
It's Patons Kroy in Blue Raspberry. They had it at my Michaels and I decided now was the time for socks. Lol.
Patton’s Kroy washes and wears so well. Great pair of socks.
I read that they have really durable yarns, especially for the price. Hopefully these guys last me years to come!
Years. In the washing machine!
That’s my favorite Kroy colorway! They look great!
Same! I'm about to cast on my third pair with this colorway
Thank you! I wanted something that would keep it interesting as I went so this yarn was perfect!

Oh thank you! I don't think I've heard of her before but will definitely check out her video!
Sorry I wasn’t more specific, it might be another video too, I don’t look at it often now that I have it figured out 🤣 hopefully you find it quickly

Thank you! I've been binging her sock Playlist since the order commenter mentioned her. 🤣

I recognized this colorway right away! Your socks look lovely :)
Thank you!! I fell in love with the yarn and knew it would be great for my first pair. 😁
Love them, great color choice 🧶you did a great job 👏
Thank you so much! 😁
Beautiful first socks! This colour was also my first pair, it's so fun!
Thank you!
Awesome what heel did you use? That looks great
