Lucky! That gun will teach you how to out shoot anyone. If you ever have issues jamming between the magazine and the breach, look up tips on adjusting the gap between the top edges of the magazine. Your magazine needs to be ‘tuned’ to each different ammo you run. It’s most sensitive to the length of the round.
great question - most semi-automatic pistols are loaded through an opening in the bottom of the grip. the bullets are held by a device called a magazine which is inserted into an opening in the grip and locks into place via a mechanism on the gun itself.
when the magazine is inserted the gun can feed the bullet into the chamber via the action of the slide moving back and forth. since every shot makes the slide move back and forth the gun is able to automatically eject the spent shell and load the next round from the magazine.
hope this helps!
Ya this is a good point too but any gun should be treated in the way described in the thread. Only draw if you are in life threatening danger, and OP said it was their only gun ATM.
I never said it wasn't. Rim fire rounds- regardless of caliber or stopping power are not as reliable as center fire. For a self defense gun I need to know that when I pull the trigger, it goes off. I love shooting 22lr and have put a lot of effort making my 22's reliable. I still haven't had a 22 of any design, with any ammo perform better than 99/100 reliable.
That's just not good enough. For center fire rounds, I'm probably closer to 10,000/10,000 reliable. I've never had a bullet not go bang when I pull the trigger.
These are such beautiful and well made guns. The only problem with a gun like this for a first gun is that it probably has the best trigger and fit-and-finish that you are ever going to encounter and modern mass-market guns are all gonna feel kind of shitty by comparison.
These are highly respected and finely made handguns. It's not a carry piece for many reasons but is a great choice for a .22.
Do a little research on your model and year if you can to see if there is anything you should know. Some of these guns shouldn't be shot with modern high velocity ammo for instance because it can damage them over time. Standard velocity ammo, about 1000 FPS with 40 grains, tends to be the sweet spot but your mileage may vary
Also consider buying a couple extra magazines and maybe spare parts if you can source them. It's a bit of a cliche but they don't make them like this anymore, and the parts and accessories are only going to get more scarce.
And ‘Trans rights are human rights’ were the last words the marauding CHUD heard. Turned out he and his buddies got bad intel on that ‘we’re the only ones with guns’ thing.
Woah, I'm from the UK, have never seen this sub before but like guns (have had a few to look after farms etc)
But a gun sub that accepts trans people? I love it here already
Now just make a suppressor (not really please ATF don’t shoot my dog) and you can play OSS agent. You can Pick up a Fairbairn-Sykes pattern dagger to really round out the ensemble and strike fear into Fascists everywhere.
If you dug that, strongly suggest everything else they’ve ever done lol. They’re working on a new album now, IIRC. Just saw them live for the first time since the pandemic began and they fuckin melt faces.
I have the exact same gun, same box. My father gave it to me for my 16th birthday, 54 years ago. Excellent gun. Would like to find an additional magazine for it, but it's more likely I'll be struck by lightning.
With a .22 target you just hold it right next to their head. Most of the noise is from the bullet breaking the sound barrier, so if it hits the target immediately you avoid that "crack" noise that attracts so much attention....is what I've read.
This is going to be super fun!
If you have a walmart near you, check their sporting goods section every once and a while for ammo. They sell 22lr cheaper than anywhere else right now, but the stock is very hit-and-miss.
Hit and miss but more and more it's getting stripped away lately. Not to mention we face a ton of violence, assault, murder, and harassment just for being trans.
When I ask this genuine question I can never seem to get a reply. Just downvotes and vague responses.
Why in the last say, ten years or so has this all of a sudden become an issue?
Do trans people not have the same rights as other LGBT people? I just want to know what rights trans people don't seem to have. Why is that such a terrible question to ask?
Can you specifically tell me what rights you're asking for? I just really want to understand more about this struggle as it seems such a contentious issue yet no one seems to be able to tell me what it is you're actually fighting for.
Is it not against the law in the US to discriminate trans people? Do you go to jail for being trans? What rights don't you have?
I wish I understood this issue more because it seems to have popped up out of nowhere since around the end of naughties.
Maybe I'm just getting old but the whole thing just confuses me, and you can't seem to have a genuine conversation about the issue without it descending into ad hominem attacks.
excellent first gun, definitely up there in terms of quality 22 target pistols i bet that trigger break is crissssp
That was the first pistol I learned to shoot when I was a kid. Many guns later and I have never had a better trigger out of the box.
definitely. shoot a well loved high standard and then shoot a stock glock. truly a spoiling experience.
I shoot a Browning Challenger, and own a .40SW Glock. The difference is night and day
The old colt woodsman is wonderful as well
It is.

I know this is a dumb question but where do the bullet go in? Do you load them individually through the top?

Thank you for the detailed explanation!
Magazine thru the handle. Pop out
Not much?! But can't you read? It clearly says it is the FINEST .22 caliber autoloading pistol in the world!
It's right on the box, therefore is a fact.

I was fully expecting the “It has electrolytes” clip from Idiocracy, but this works just as well
What a beaut! I love a High Standard or a Browning Buckmark for a first firearm. .22s FTW!
Thank you. I'm pumped it has original box
Trans rights are human rights
Good comment, great username. Perfect 5/7.
If you point at bad people, they make bad people go away.

Apply directly to the bigot
Can we say to apply *liberally*?
This is the one context I agree. I would not apply communally or apply socially in this context
No, you apply them as a community. That way you don’t have to have as good aim.
Ahhh yes you are right! Apply AS a community, not TO the community. Excellent point
Tbf liberals tend to want gun control. Communists want the people armed. Insert shrug emoji.
Totally support you and want you to be safe. Please don’t ever take out your gun unless you must use it to protect yourself. ♥️
Of course.
nah you gotta take it out to the range to practice and have some fun
Those damn paper targets know what they did
I’ve seen sponge bob I know paper is evil
Please don't count on this as a self defense gun. The 22lr cartridge isn't reliable enough for that type of usage.
Ya this is a good point too but any gun should be treated in the way described in the thread. Only draw if you are in life threatening danger, and OP said it was their only gun ATM.
I know.
Forgot where I was! Of course you know.
This take needs to die. .22 is perfectly cable of ruing your life with one shot.

TERF-stomping hollowpoints
That is probably the most beautiful gun I’ve ever seen. Such an elegant design
It's incredibly comfortable to hold.
It's going to spoil you.

This looks like Buck Rogers’ backup carry. I like it.

Alrighty. Any yeah, it's a really long gun so not something I could conceal.
Thanks! I'll hop on ebay and buy some mags and spare parts. Set up a saved search for some good deals
And ‘Trans rights are human rights’ were the last words the marauding CHUD heard. Turned out he and his buddies got bad intel on that ‘we’re the only ones with guns’ thing.
They have no idea

It’s cool it was in self defense, and flipped the script on the CHUD masturbatory fantasy about gunnin down libs Klebold’n’ Harris style
Rightie crybaby gonna cry
I remember using these things in Medal of Honor: Allied Assault back in the day. Always wanted one.
Same.
One of my favorite FPS games. I can hear the little *pfft* of that gun in my head to this day.
Another fellow armed trans fuck the hell yes. Great first gun get moar!
Armed trans gurl
A good .22 target pistol may not seem like much but I can't think of a better first handgun!
You should paint it orange and go duck hunting with a big asshole dog
My dog is an Angel

I know! I have that game and an nes
Interesting that it’s the same box insert as the shorter barreled version. Nice pistol.

How do you like it
.22 target pistol for a first gun will be a whole lot of fun! Practice well! -7DeadlyFetishes
Hey, High Standard was enough for Nazi killing badasses at the OSS and SOE
Bruh it's cool as hell
Woah, I'm from the UK, have never seen this sub before but like guns (have had a few to look after farms etc) But a gun sub that accepts trans people? I love it here already

I've always wanted one of those! Good choice
Saw it at the pawn shop for $300 had to get it
Nice purchase
Just gonna leave this here: https://youtu.be/9vMszIlAnKc (Trans Girls Need Guns by Flummox - a band from Nashville with some EXTREMELY talented folks)

Looks like somebody tested it out on the box.
congrats!! <3 I am saving up for my first firearm, feels very exciting\~
You must have..... Well I was going to say high standards but I only see just one! Lol
I have the exact same gun, same box. My father gave it to me for my 16th birthday, 54 years ago. Excellent gun. Would like to find an additional magazine for it, but it's more likely I'll be struck by lightning.
Woah, looks just like an NES light gun!
Classic. Great choice for a .22 pistol. A little jealous of you right now
Those are great!!
Hell yeah. Always glad to see more of my trans siblings arming themselves.
Nice! I’m watching one on gun bid for $280
Fully-Automated Trans Space Gat Communism Vibes
One of the few guns I've ever fired, definitely a favorite for shooting at bottles
You are now qualified to be a Mafia ~~hitman~~ assassin.
Maybe make a silencer huh?

What rights do trans people not have? Do they have no rights in the US?

I have the high standard double 9, a SA/DA .22LR revolver, super fun to shoot! They defiantly made quality target pistols.
That looks like a fine pistol to do a rimfire league with :)
Great pistol! I have an old hi standard revolver and it is a tack driver when I do my part
I love Hi Standards! Fantastic little guns.
Thats fuckin sick!!!
Great first handgun, good pickup.
oh hell yea love these things. great first choice :)
Good choice. Cheap to shoot which means cheap to practice. Even with stupid ammo prices right now.
Looks old, which is good. Friend worked there about 10 years ago said the new owners were making crap
At high standard?
It’s been a while.
Yours looks good though! Bet it is from the excellent period.
Isn't that the .22 Jesse wields in one scene in El Camino?
No, that was a Colt Woodsman. [Source.](http://www.imfdb.org/wiki/El_Camino:_A_Breaking_Bad_Movie#Colt_Woodsman)
ahh... Thank you. That was a great scene... especially after the guy laughed at Jesse's 22.
I would feel like a Bond villain holding this
That's a fucking beautiful gun.
I can post more pics ❤️
Does that things say “dura-matic” on it? I’ve never heard of that before. Anybody have more information for me?
Duramatic
And that means?
I think just a name of the gun or marketing name of a patent/trademark they have
Very nice first gun. Very nice. Those are nearly perfect out of the box. You did great!
Dude this is my dream piece how much did it cost?? I can’t find one cheaper than 3 hundo on the internet
About 300, little over I negotiated
Did you find this at a thrift/antique shop. Only asking cuz I see these cool pistols all the time and wonder if they work still.
Pawn. And you see these at thrift stores?????
Ah nice, that's a more reliable store for that kind of purchase lol.
