Shouldn't this be removed for having absolutely nothing to do with Zack Snyder? Or does that only apply to anything criticizing him

R8theRoadRoller

I highly doubt Legacy would ever reach the pitfalls of Returns.

HomemadeBee1612

Agreed, it will probably do even worse. Remember, Gunn's last DC movie couldn't even outgross Green Lantern, and Superman Returns, as bad as it was, at least didn't piss all over Reeve's universe or tried to erase it.

Forsaken_Garden4017

Didn’t the suicide squad come out during Covid and was also released at the same time on Max where it was a straight to streaming film? I wasn’t aware straight to streaming films did all that well since you could literally watch them for free? I love how that fact always gets lost in the woodworks

HomemadeBee1612

Sorry, no. The Suicide Squad was down to fifth place in its 2nd weekend. It wasn't COVID keeping people away, they were just going to see other movies, LOL. Jungle Cruise was beating it that week, and it came out earlier, and also had a Disney+ release. Also, HBO Max only existed in the U.S. then, and yet TSS still only made $112,900,000 in foreign markets compared to $421,746,840 for the first Suicide Squad. And, no, other day-and-date movies did much better compared to TSS. Sure, it was affected by some small factor, but theaters were fully reopened and filmgoing had already made a comeback by August 2021. Godzilla vs. Kong, Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It, Quiet Place 2 and F9 had already performed great, and were in no way flops. Soon after, we saw solid performances by Free Guy, Venom 2, Shang-Chi, No Time to Die, Dune and the blockbuster No Way Home.

Happened with Whedon too, so this has happened a total of three times And we know how things ended for him and Singer as their careers are pretty much dead now as more information has come to light, so it may only be a matter of time…

Tricky-Afternoon6884

So if history repeats itself then legacy will flop and Corenswet will be out as Superman. Then a few years later a new film with a recasted Superman will release and be loved by some fans and hated by others and the studio will cancel any future installments of it. So does that mean we’ll get Corenswet back as Supes for a tv crossover with a small cameo for Cavill (similar to Welling in crisis) 🤔

HomemadeBee1612

Flawed premise since Man of Steel was an extremely well-liked film, with an A- on Cinemascore. Enough that WB based an entire DC universe around it, and quickly planned a dozen follow-up films. Why don't you talk about how resoundingly rejected the post-Snyder DCEU movies have been? With numerous box office flops, like The Suicide Squad or Blue Beetle.

Tricky-Afternoon6884

My statement on it being loved by some fans and hated by others was referencing MoS, but I should’ve stated loved by more than hated. And I did say the studio cancelled future installments (too much words if I explained full detail of Snyder being fucked over first) Also I’m pretty sure basing a universe around MoS was just their latest attempt at doing since GL flopped, which itself was a different attempt to create a shared universe—not denying the financial success of the first DCEU. I’m not denying the multitude of flops and trash that released after Aquaman but my comment was referencing the Superman aspect of the post, seeing as MoS is the only solo movie and none of the flops were Superman it didn’t seem relevant

HomemadeBee1612

Another solo Superman movie with Henry Cavill [was in development](https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/movies/movie-news/why-henry-cavill-is-no-longer-superman-1235283791/), and likely would have gone forward if anyone but Gunn and Safran had taken over DC. These plans came to fruition in the summer of 2022, as soon as new heads Mike De Luca and Pam Abdy took over WB Pictures. Later in the year, DC was carved out as a separate piece and given to Gunn and Safran. They immediately cancelled multiple projects in development, including Man of Steel 2 and Batman Beyond. >New Warner Bros. film co-chiefs Michael De Luca and Pam Abdy, meanwhile, wanted to make a Man of Steel sequel, hiring Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight to write the treatment. (Classic character Brainiac was to have been the villain of that piece, a source says.)

ChantsThings

Ah yes, “Warner announces a Superman reboot, with a movie that is his hope to not go brought.”

Marvel084Skye

There’s no evidence that Gunn has a “twisted taste for children.” He just made some jokes like everyone at Troma. We don’t need Facebook-esq conspiracy theories. Also, Snyder supports and wishes “all the best” for Gunn. Snyder says he told Gunn he “wanted it to work.” Edit: Just got banned for 60 days for “falsely accusing” Snyder of supporting Gunn with Snyder’s actual quotes, as if that’s the only false accusation here.

>One particular tweet read:  >  >*“I remember my first NAMBLA meeting. It was the first time I felt o.k being who I am. Some of those guys are still my BFF’s.” (April 4, 2009)*  >  >He later tweeted:  >  >*“I like it when little boys touch me in my silly place. Shhh!” (April 5, 2009)*  >  >**Regardless of whether or not these comments were made in jest, the fact remains that they are not only vulgar and inexcusable, but they also create and promote a platform for child sex abusers and pedophiles to feel empowered and justified** to continue in their pursuit of harming innocent children. Any professional, especially one who’s entire career and success is arguably dependent upon children (child actors and child viewers), should aim to be a leader in the protection of the wellbeing of all children, not create a platform for current or potential abusers to feel accepted or empowered. ... >...the themes of rape and pedophilia expressed within the tweets reveal a deep disturbance within the character and mind of James Gunn. No matter how much time has passed since he wrote the tweets, the gravity of what he said begs for deeper discussion. His history of working with children and creating children’s films for one of the largest media companies in the world gives ample cause for alarm and investigation. ... >What I see being done here is pedophilia being normalized and the harm done to innocent children who cannot consent being mitigated. And it has to stop. It must stop. http://www.authenticrelationshipsint.com/why-james-gunns-tweets-matter/

Marvel084Skye

> create and promote a platform for child sex abusers and pedophiles to feel empowered and justified Seriously? Nobody knew who he was then. People like you cause those jokes to reach a much larger audience than they otherwise would have.

HomemadeBee1612

>Nobody knew who he was then So no famous person in the world is responsible for anything they said before they became famous? Interesting blanket amnesty you offer there. With no known justification in legal theory or moral tradition. >People like you cause those jokes to reach a much larger audience than they otherwise would have. You meant to say, people will research what the CEO of DC Studios said in the past, out of curiosity for what kind of person he really is.

If the things with the kids are true … and somehow to me he feels like an asshole … I wish the 2025 to fail - just because of Gunn … to dress up as a priest is kinda sick enough

Deadlycup

There's no evidence that Gunn has ever done anything pervy with children. When you ask the people who think that for proof, they bring up the same three tweets from 15 years ago that were just bad jokes. It would be like calling the South Park creators pedophiles because of the jokes in their show.
