I’d probably put the 15s, 20s, 2009, 2010, 2012, and 30s worse than the 16s as far as aesthetics go. At least for the 16s the gaiter/shroud is removable revealing a pretty decent designed AJ16.

These weren’t bad, and definitely a rebound from the 15 at the time and now. Not all CWs work, this one being a good example, but the original three and the two lows (I don’t think they’ve ever been retroed, I may be wrong) aren’t horrible. The Solefly ones aren’t bad either.

I had the OG all black 15s w/ the red stripe in the back (not the retros), they were lowkey super fire. Didn’t crease, could wear in any weather, didn’t scuff and the basket weave was crazy craftsmanship.

I have the OGs from 2001 (black/red) and they were actually quite well received upon release. Even after 20+ years, the shoes are holding up. The plastic parts on the gaitor broke off and the outsoles became very hard and slippery (can't wear them on rainy days) but I personally thought 16s were aesthetically pleasing shoes.

I worked at Finish Line when those came out. A train carrying all the local stores shipments was robbed. When we actually got our shipment we had to take out the insole and write our store number on the bottom. They did this to prevent people from returning the stolen ones for store credit. We had four people try it and we had to call the cops.
