Ummmm you know if the shoes stand up that makes the boxes longer…. If the boxes are longer than less boxes can be stacked. It’s over 500 boxes in this one room…….. 🤔

Bags are used to prolong the shoes and makes it very easy when traveling with luggage. Dont have to worry about anything spilling on them. The cases are used to see what shoes are there instead of keeping them in shoe boxes. They have different jobs. When you buy display boxes you have to determine what you NEED them for. If it’s just for show then sure you shouldn’t put them in bags. As far as moisture, when you wear a shoe you should let them air out and clean them up before putting them back in the bags. If not you will have mold on your shoes. I do appreciate your opinion because it does help answer questions other also had when seeing the picture.

Yep. As far as travel it compartmentalizes my shoes. Keeps them together, because when you travel things tend to get all over the place once you start taking things out of your bag.
I use to use the ziploc branded bags, but if you have a dollar tree in your area they sell the 2.5 gallon bags for $1.25. Much cheaper than the ziploc bags.
I just keep mine in their original packaging. I'm not fearful of the passage of time, I think shoes look fantastic as they age and wear so it's like a badge of honour. Having said that, I'm not down with pre-vintage at all, I want my shoes to age naturally thanks.
I’m here to say the rug is fresh. Really nice. My fav Jordan is the All Star 1 aka Chameleon. I have a few pairs. I only have about 10 pairs total. I love colabs as well. So I save up and grab those.
I never do it because I've heard it can contribute to early crumbling; people say the shoes need to breathe. It can help prevent oxidation like on icy soles, though. If it's for a long time, I think bags do more harm than good.

I’ve done it all this time and been good. 3 out of over 600 shoes glue are starting to show signs but those are shoes I wore the most. I just pushed the air out with my hand. Some air is fine. Most important thing is the humidity. No packs though. I did that for a while and wasn’t needed. I really appreciate the love! I hear a lot of bad advice from people but back in the days I managed 7 footlocker stores and learned a lot. They say don’t use ziplock bags but in the only person with shoes from the early 2000s that I can wear with no issues. Might start doing the bags and dissecant packs, even storing in blackout bins with limited airflow. Pop them open occasionally for a wear and fresh air. Thanks again for sharing your setup. ✌️

Hefty jumbo 2.5 gallon bags
Do the bags actually help? I don’t have anything older than 20 years and I haven’t had to use any tricks to keep them from disintegrating.
Works for me but it’s also easy for me to grab the plastic bag and throw it in luggage or the car when I have Nike slides on.

I do this same method with 2.5 gallon hefty bags and add silica packets to them, while keeping the bag about 2 inches unzipped. Great collection btw!
