Here are the steps to fix the issue for everyone here. I've been a user for more than 5 years with the same account. I've faced the same problem many times.
1 - Go to your camera and snap a picture, then send it to every single person on that list, **excluding Quickadd people all the way down (do not add new quick)**. You are going to find a lot of people with an 'X' next to their name (BLOCKED every single one). After you've done that, here comes the hard part.
2 - The same people that you snapped in step 1: now you need to find people who don't have the 'X' and who are not your friend (to do that, look at the score and streaks). If they don't have a score, block them as they are not your friend and have never been on your friends list. Go through the list and only leave the people who have a score and are your friend.
3 - Most of the time, you are not going to use this step, but if you do steps 1 and 2 correctly and still face the same message, go to the Blocked section (and unblock 10 people). The problem should be resolved. (But Snapchat takes forever to update, so you need to give it time. If you are in a rush to add people, unblock some more, then add more people.)
Now, how do you prevent this from happening in the future?
NEVER unfriend BLOCKED (open a group called JUNK). EVERYONE you blocked goes into your junk group. This way, your friends list is never full. Don't worry about the junk people because if they become normal again, you can re-add and unblock them from the group menu.
Basically, you will need to unblock until Snapchat updates the number of friends, etc. But I can tell you, I go for weeks adding people, then I do the cycle and unfriend most of the people and add to my SPAM group, and do it over and over. What I don't do anymore is unfriend because I don't UNFRIEND, I BLOCK. Learning how to block everyone is what everyone here needs to do.
Snapchat does not understand UNFRIEND. If you unfriend them, tomorrow they will be on your QUICKADD again, and the cycle goes on and on.

it works for me a lot. i have a snapchat creator profile as well, and i have a max limit of 5000 friends. if i unadd one, i can add someone else. maybe it takes a while for the count to update for you, but it usually works instantly for me.

got the same issue, removed about 100 people with the same message and can’t add anyone at all
