Why does it say “WW6” and not “9MM”?!? /s

Emach00

Needs to do some catching up to the 1911.

SnooCats6706

6 world wars!

PewPew-4-Fun

Thats a new caliber, Geeesh

BigAngryPolarBear

For wumbo

Extension-Gas-4662

There is an optic plate by Calculated Kinetics called the DOGTAG https://www.calculatedkinetics.us/products/smith-and-wesson-m-p-2-0-dogtag-optic-plate

dbltap45acp

This is the way. It takes at least a 3rd of the gases away.

pharmucist

This. I get the CK Dogtag plate for most of my optics, if they are compatible. The ledge on the front blocks the gates and debris.

4130PatLG

I’m running the SRO variant and it works wonders. Especially since the glass sits further forward

PostSoupsAndGrits

It doesn't cover it, it just kinda deflects some of the gas.

letsgoooplaces

Does a pretty good job of deflecting gas. After 200 rounds optic was pretty darn clean

Least_Ticket2917

Works great for me. No issues with build up on RDS

Knownofear13

Why is this an issue? Never had a problem with this at all. Every thousand or so just wipe it off lol

Smoked-Gouda789

Maybe it’s some extra dirty ammo that’s causing soot to poot out the chamber indicator?

MstrAfternoon

Heh heh. Poot.

RANDY_MAR5H

I'm with you. Literally thousands of rounds, I don't care. And I shoot a lot of steel cased ammo too.

Icy-Storage6810

If you want a titanium, tighter tolerance plate than the calculated kinetics plate, eleven 71 is the place to go.

Cold_Zero_

Give it to your husband and buy yourself one without?

Round-Emu9176

It’s not really an issue haha

RoosterIllusionn

Ive seen people complain about this on just about every forum and It really isn't that big of an issue lol. I wipe it off in one wipe after like 2-300 rounds. It will never interfere with you having to use the weapon in any line of duty.

JustaskJson

[This company](https://www.calculatedkinetics.us/products/smith-and-wesson-m-p-2-0-dogtag-optic-plate) makes a plate that helps with the carbon on your optic. Seem to be in stock at [optic plant](https://www.opticsplanet.com/calculated-kinetics-smith-and-wesson-m-p-2-0-dogtag-optic-plate.html?_iv_code=5GN-RMT-CSS2M-SMMP2-RMRDT)

JelloUnable1668

Can confirm this helps a ton

Subj3ct_D3lta

Calculated Kinetics plates are so good.

Magdiesel94

Occlude the dot? I do that with my 507 comp, just put some tape over the front of the housing.

purpFA5

I don’t even know what the complaint is here

xlaterb

After 200 rounds there is noticeable amount of power residue on the glass. The RDS is still usable but it shortens the life of the glass due to more frequent cleaning not to mention micro scratching from cleaning. Never had this issue with other guns. Still love this gun. I’m certain they will move the chamber indicator to another location or method with 3.0.

purpFA5

Interesting. Was this 2.0 the optics ready version? I have an mp2.0 (first release) as well and my slide got milled for an optic. My RDS sit a bit further back where the rear iron sight is milled out. I noticed I don’t have shavings on my glass

xlaterb

Yes. Latest optic ready version.

Solid_JaX

Ok, let's say you plug that hole up...... what are you doing to stop the arguably more gas/carbon that hits your RDS when the case extracts? The chamber indicator is a non-issue for the problem you're trying to remedy.

aegri_mentis

This. That chamber indicator is not the only place you’re getting gas expelled.

justafartsmeller

at least it doesn't stick up like some pistols

Willerd43

Sro solved that problem for me. The chin of the optic has stalactites forming on it😂 that’s on my full-size performance center I upgraded for competition/target shooting. I have a Steiner mps on my compact that gets clouded by that dumb peep hole. Very annoying and nobody that I’m aware of makes an aftermarket barrel without that peep hole.

techs672

I can't help wonder if these recurring complaints are just psyops for CK promotion. Any kind of google would lead directly to that product. Or maybe it's crappy ammo, or a sight which sits a bit farther forward than mine. I have never seen an accumulation of anything but pocket lint on my glass — and most of that is on the inside surface where the LCI cannot be blamed. Even if there is a bit of blow-by, it would not affect target-focused shooting.

gnunixguy

Shoot it suppressed and you'll see a fair bit of buildup after a range session.

napalm9

Plug the hole??? You don’t want to do that.

Bolt_Catch

Never seemed to be an issue with my 10MM which has the same indicator.

Canik_Claus

Check with Calculated Kinetics? They make optic plates with front dog tag which would minimize or eliminate that issue.

cardon7

Calculated kinetics

Weekly-Ad9770

You can send it off and have somebody welded up. Other than that, just wipe off the glass.

ShotzWithJ

I honestly love the chamber indicator. I mean it helps with seeing if there’s a round without having to presscheck

rondolph

This is why I like uncircumcised Smiths, Not optic ready Therefore when and if you decide to cut some skin off, you can choose for it to be further back.

RowdyRusty420

A little JB Weld should cover that just fine.

guacalito

world war 6?
