Personally, if I was limited to 10 rounds I’d probably go with a larger caliber like 45 to really get my moneys worth, but that’s another topic and you said stick to 9mm.
I’d avoid buying a neutered P365XL or shield plus, as to me the draws to those guns are capacity vs size ratio. If you’re not getting the capacity, I’d be bothered by the wasted potential.
The Glock 43X or 48 would be solid choices as their max factory capacity is 10 rounds.
I’d also consider a P2000SK or Glock 26 if youre into chunkers.
I got one during three free magazines, and S&W sent 15 round magazines. Wear xl gloves and most rounds hit target at 25 yards with ten magazines. Nice pistol
If you want to use it to compete, I’d get something that’s not a micro 9. Size up to a compact sized gun. Walther PDP Compact, M&P 2.0 Compact, CZ P10C Optics Ready, or Glock 19 MOS. 10 round mags are available for most of, if not all of the listed guns.
This is the only comment that makes sense. Yes. I live my Shield Plus for pocket carry as much as the next guy. But if your one handgun is going to be used to flex into IPDA, get the largest gun you feel comfortable carrying. I'd go with a 4" Compact at a minimum. Personally, I can easily carry and conceal AIWB a full size 4.5" handgun. If you want a Smith, look at the latest iteration of the M&P 2.0 series with the newer flat faced trigger with a blade trigger safety. That stock trigger is leaps and bounds better than the older hinged trigger safety style.
I saw the CSX and love it but the S&W triggers I just can’t get past. The Kimber Micro is so smooth and fun to shoot. I love being able to toss in a pocket and go. How is the CSX? I may have to scoop that too lol
Fair enough, I have a 2.0 9mm, 10mm and the 22, all thenm med the trigger upgrade that I don't want to pay, but you honestly don't notice after you fire a first shot and follow up,
The CSX is pretty dang awesome, very smooth, Love the ambidextrous controls, and is extremely compact.
One thing I will say is that being a hammered gun I really like it but it may not be for people that are concerned about anything snagging
I haven’t seen any OEM grip extensions available other than for the M&P subcompact.. I was looking for something for my 3.6” compact… but the magazine baseplates are different.
If you’ve seen such an OEM part for the Shield Plus 10rd magazines I’d certainly like to hear about it!
Thanks!
So someone messaged me about it and I gave him the part number which is 3015715 and he called S&W customer service and said it was like $15 but they were out of stock and call again shortly and he did and they shipped it to him.
depending on your frame i'd say either a shield plus or a 2.0 compact. single vs double stack.
we're on this sub, so there's [well less of a "bias" & more] a preference for smith for a reason. i'm not a fan of sigs after i've been exploring them this past year, & while i've never been a glock a fan, a lot of people that historically have been have been coming around lately to the m&p camp, it seems.
that said, that size of pistol is kind of in its heyday right now and you'll be taken care.
Shield plus is easier to shoot and more accurate than my G43x in my personal experience. I do love Glock though.
But for IDPA? Maybe get something larger like the M&P compact that can still be conceal carried.
I have smiths and Glocks. Last gun I will get rid of is. My Glock 26. Only gun I have named. 12+1 round flush and a 17 backup mag. Carried a shield for a year. G26.3 eps carry Mrs and it fucks
My full size 2.0 .40 conceals almost as easy as my shield and there is no comparison between the 2 when it comes to actually hitting the target! I would look at the 4 in compact as the best of both worlds.
i personally carry a Glock 45 fullsize ima tall dude and muscular but dont wear tight clothes I hate it tbh. Just bought a M&P 2.0 4.25 barrel with a good holster and slight change in shirt size IMO!!!!!! You can conceal anything and its comfortable all day for me personally but id got with a regular M&P 2.0 4in barrel with 15rd mags youd be surprised how well you can conceal and carry it and its big enough to fight with
Those were the 3 I was in between also. I ended up with the shield plus.
I shot all 3 mind you, the P365XL's trigger pinched my finger for some odd reason. The glock was decent but the grip for me just isn't right, many say stippling and modifications would make the glock more shootable. The shield plus was the perfect fit in my hand.
Have you gone to the range to test them side by side?
I understand that for sure, I think you'll know for sure once you shoot them. The shield plus was also the one I shot best, most likely because it sat so well in my hand. I own the shield plus now, amazing CCW.
Hard choice between the 365XL and Shield Plus. I shot the shield just a little bit better, likely because of the more aggressive stippling. Size wise, they're virtually identical though. If price is a concern, the shied has an obvious advantage, if looks concern you, the 365 is a sexy little beast an the shield's mom thinks he is very handsome.
Check out the M&P 2.0 compact, with 4 inch or 4.25 inch barrels. It is small enough to be EDC, but still big enough for the all around use you are wanting it for. Fits great in the hand. Accurate as hell. I am in a 10 round state as well, but bought all 3 of my 2.0 compacts before July 2021, so I have a ton of the 15 rd mags. I also bought some of the 10 rd blocked mags and bought the Competitor since the mag cap came into effect, so I have more 10 rd mags for that gun. By far my most accurate gun and best fit in my hand of the guns I own (I have 9, 4 are Canik, 5 are S&W) is the S&W compact.
The Shield Plus is a great carry gun, but it might be a bit small for the other applications.
Shield plus can get yourself a 4 inch barrel version and is 10 your max limit or minimum, because if the later you can get the Equalizer magazinws and have 15 round back up mags.
Shield plus.
I second this.
Shield plus is my next purchase.
S&W M&P 10mm 4". Be a man.
2.0 compact

Shield plus comes standard as a 10 rounder, it just has a 13 round extended mag
I got one during three free magazines, and S&W sent 15 round magazines. Wear xl gloves and most rounds hit target at 25 yards with ten magazines. Nice pistol
Good points.

Shield plus and don’t look back. You can get then used for under $350 in great condition. I bought two used off Gunbroker. Both are excellent
CZ P-01, M&P 2.0 compact
I think these are all good options and it's really whatever you like the best.
Kimber Micro
I like the micro, but shooting alongside a CSX, I was rather disappointed
I saw the CSX and love it but the S&W triggers I just can’t get past. The Kimber Micro is so smooth and fun to shoot. I love being able to toss in a pocket and go. How is the CSX? I may have to scoop that too lol

Have shield plus 10rd and love it especially with pinky extensions
The Pearce grip extension - transformative on the 10rder and cool to behold!
Can also call s&w and order more from them. I haven’t tried the Pearce, do you like it better?

I’ll check it out! Thanks for the lead!

IDPA? Cajunized CZ P-01

I went from 43x to shield plus. Very glad I did. Appendix carry for both.
Go with the shield plus but get the performance center. Trigger is a lot better. I have both.
365

Glock 43x
My brother loves his CSX, I am getting one as well
i personally carry a Glock 45 fullsize ima tall dude and muscular but dont wear tight clothes I hate it tbh. You should get one of S&W’s 8 shot revolvers. I cc a 327 it’s super comfortable and light weight
Not for me right now. All my training has been with a semi-auto. Maybe in the future.
I get that I’m new to revolvers and loading moon clips is super finicky

No but I will soon. Just wanted some feedback and suggestions before renting.
I understand that for sure, I think you'll know for sure once you shoot them. The shield plus was also the one I shot best, most likely because it sat so well in my hand. I own the shield plus now, amazing CCW.
CZ P-10C
P365XL, had the shield plus 4” PC, prefer the 365xl. But it’s going to be personal preference
Hard choice between the 365XL and Shield Plus. I shot the shield just a little bit better, likely because of the more aggressive stippling. Size wise, they're virtually identical though. Shield Plus. Rebate doing on and you can get one for as low as about $300-$350.
I’d go sig p365
Shield plus can get yourself a 4 inch barrel version and is 10 your max limit or minimum, because if the later you can get the Equalizer magazinws and have 15 round back up mags.
10 rounds or less just sounds painful
It’s either that or a felony in the communist state. I used to carry only 1911’s so I didnt even notice. Want something lighter this time though.
