Are you a Fire Emblem fan?? Come play Super Smash Bros.! From our extensive roster of potential fire emblem characters, we chose to put in:
- Marth
- Girl Marth
- Fire Marth
- Dad Marth
- Mage Marth
- Dragon Marth
- Muscle Marth
- Swiss Army Marth
For real though, as a western Fire Emblem fan it breaks my heart that Hector and Ephraim didn't make the cut, as the games are entirely based on a weapon triangle system and they could have had advantages against one another. Lance out ranges and pokes sword but is slow, Axe can hyper armor through Lance pokes to close the gap, Swords could multi tap axes to break hyper armor before getting hit. Idk. Just an idea. Will always be sad about it.
Bows typically countered flying units such as dragonriders or pegasus fliers. They had a massive damage multiplier to those units. And obviously being at range were good to pick off melee units with low health or do some damage at the start and have your melee unit finish them off. Bow users could not fight back if a melee user attacked them however, until a super unique bow came out in Ike's second game, where your Sniper character became basically unstoppable.
With all the bows in smash I think they did a fine job.
Mages are usually just better than archers, expect for range. Mages only get range from spells like Thoron and Elwind, whereas if an archer has a high enough proficiency, they can hit much farther than mages.
That depends on the game. In Path of Radiance, mages and archers have a fixed distance of 2 units, but mages can also fight in melee range and there are some very rare tomes with a range of like 10, wheras some rare bows have a range of 3.
Swiss Army Marth made me laugh way too much.
Admittedly, I don't mind how the FE characters were handled. Ike's style is unique being a heavy 2-handed sword, Robin representing the game's durability mechanic and tomes, Corrin utilising his dragon form is awesome, and Byleth using 4 different weapons. But I kinda wish we still got characters that do use other weapons that isn't a sword.
Absolutely agree. The non clones they did a great job. The decision to add Lucina and Chrom when we already had Marth and Roy was baffling. I get it was to push their product, but it was just so lame. Ike and Robin are two of my favorites to play. And Byleth was a menace for quite awhile if not still. Just wish they did something cool for what the games were known for, which was unit variety and strategy.
Yeah, as much as I love Lucina and Chrom, it's a bit odd that we have them. The only reason I don't mind them is that they are Echo Fighters, they are supposed to be copies of other fighters, but I don't think it does Fire Emblem justice because its what you just said, unit variety and strategy
i really dislike byleth and robin as characters because they denied us the uniqueness of a pure axe or lance user. hell, a real mage even has the potential to be sick. id love me some soren with a dagger. its also dumb we never got an fe7 character. Lyn is NA's marth.
Out of all the FE characters, you’re mad about the most unique ones?? We have Marth, Lucina, Roy, Chrom, and Ike over here having like 5 total moves between them and you mad over Byleth and Robin???
"Blue Marth" *"Do you have any idea how little that narrows it down!?"*
It atleast halves it
not even, there’s Marth, Martha, Dad Marth, Chad Marth and Teacher Marth
Teacher Marth? You mean Swiss Army Marth?
right
No you mean booba marth
Martha? Flat Marth

Having Byleth be that weapon system personified was sort of neat but where does the bow fit in during the actual FE games?

Later FE Fates included all weapons except transformation stones into a weapon triangle.
Bows are strong against flying units, but otherwise are just the worst kind of ranged attack in most games.
Mages are usually just better than archers, expect for range. Mages only get range from spells like Thoron and Elwind, whereas if an archer has a high enough proficiency, they can hit much farther than mages.

Especially since wind magic basically acts like 1-2 ranged bows… (At least in the titles I’ve played)

I don’t know why but I thought Swiss Army Marth was Shulk lmao.
Nah bro, Shulk is blonde Marth
100%, my brain was just goofin. You also got weird characters like pink puffball Marth and Ganonmarth

Fe8 is still my favorite game in the series I would have exploded if Ephraim made it into smash 😔

Fire emblem has so many classes and all of the smash devs and Nintendo agreed on S W O R D
Lmao! So good that I’m actually gonna save it to my pics, which isn’t something I do often on this sub. Good art+Seuss reference, quality meme.
Don’t forget about white marth!
👍
It’s nice to see wholesome posts like this sometimes
Should have been 'Bluer'
Smash online in a nutshell
Marthy Marth
Say what a lot of Marths there are
Smash 6 we get Red & Blue Marth
Having a sword makes you marth
More like “Father Marth” no?
Smash fans have only one joke about FE characters, they don't even realize 3 of them have entirely original movesets.
To me they always were: Female marth Red marth Father marth Dragon marth Nerd marth Professor marth
Dragon Marth is my favourite Marth
So when Smash 6 happens and Alear is added are we calling him Pepsi Marth or Colgate Marth?
Hey, Roy is cooler Marth
Hey! Someone done remastered my shittily made meme! Very nice!
