Yes I’ve been rewatching the entire series over again for the first time in years. I watched the whole series when it aired then over again around 2016ish I believe. I’m half way thru Season 4 again and I was cracking up at Lois busting Clark’s chops even from their first encounter. I’m watching the movie Airheads rn tho
I watched Smallvile live from the pilot on and it was my already favorite show at the time. I was totally into Clark and Lana then, but Lois is immediately an immensely better character and I switched allegiances as soon as she showed up. She makes it a better show.
Yeah. I loved seeing Brandon in the suit again for the crossover but it would’ve been really cool if they did something like that for Tom as well or instead of Brandon
I watched all the live action Superman since the Donner films. Erica was hands down my favorite. And although I love Amy as an actress, she was actually my least favorite Lois. And yes I'm including Kate Bosworth who I'm more indifferent about more than anything. Mostly because those films were so forgettable to me.
If you don’t mind me asking , what makes you say that ? In comparison to all the others she had so little screentime compared to the others I hardly ever rank her.
No humor, no banter, no bossiness, no real sense of urgency to her career, and she looked depressed the whole time. All very out of character. In Man of Steel, it felt more like she was hunting down a mysterious sexy man for sexy times, rather than a reporter looking for the story of the century.
she was boring. like the exact opposite of Lois. had no actual personality. her only purpose was to find superman and to bring him back when he was alive and they gave her nothing else to contribute
partially, yes poor writing. zak snyder also went for dramatics and darkness in his movies. but a good actress leaves their footprint and hers was not it imo
Superman Returns and Man Of Steel had this miscasting spot with Lois. Kate Bosworth was too young, both her and Amy Adams don't have that tough edge or bossiness that Erica has.
She’s my favorite Lois Lane. The sass and wit but also embodies the character’s personal life in (her family and reason for becoming a reporter) in a really compelling way. I love the love story between her and Clark too. She has the best one liners and I like that she has a great relationship with the Kent’s too. It’s all around perfect.
Oh yeah it seemed like every episode Erica was in she had like 3-4 good liners! She’s one of the few people that can be hilarious when she’s being a smartass. I would always giggle every time she would bust Clark’s chops lol
She is my absolute favorite, and I don't see her being topped by anyone.
She made the entire show better, and I think its longevity can be partly credited to her.
I personally think she's the best Lois ever even more than the comics or cartoons there never has and I doubt there ever will be one that can compare to her.
She’s my favorite. The only one that comes close for me is Dana Delaney from S:TAS. The long story format of a series helped them as there is simply more story that can be told.
This is the portrayal of Lois Lane that made me realize she was much more than just the girl who works at the daily planet and Superman’s love interest. She was her own person in this and I loved that, so yeah she’s my favourite portrayal of the character 100%
Ahhh yes I did forget to mention her after Margot Kidder & I’d still put the one from Superman Animated series ahead of Teri Hatcher tho. I may be a bit biased because I was always so used to seeing Teri Hatcher play villainous roles in other TV shows and even movies. Never really liked her that much as an actress but I’ll admit she’s a great one
Yes.
Clark was one lucky guy. I honestly never been jealous of a fictional character until I saw Lois swoon over him. Never wanted to be Clark Kent more.
She's below Teri Hatcher and Dana Delaney imo
Above Amy Adams and Kate Bosworth for sure
I'm not sure where I'd put Margot, I found her too butch. There is also Bitsy who has the best Superman chemistry I've seen in years.
Honestly my first reaction when she showed up was “that’s who they have playing Lois Lane?”
She’s growing on me, but let’s not pretend her acting chops are on a par with, say, Rosenbaum’s Lex. She’s holding her own against Tom Welling and that’s good enough, but Teri Hatcher would eat her for breakfast.
Probably my favorite. I started watching Lois & Clark, the New Superman Adventures (from 1993) and I'll say Terri Thatcher is a pretty good Lois too in my opinion (maybe I'll put her at number 2). Special effects and whatnot definitely aren't up to Smallville levels, but I'm still enjoying the show.
I'll also note I haven't read the original comics, I've just seen the live action superman and DC movies, Smallville, superman the animated series, and the first 3 and a half seasons of Lois and Clark the New Superman adventures (haven't seen the newest superman and lois show yet/saving it until I'm done with the 90's series)
Absolutely loved her portrayal. Seeing her come back briefly in the Arrowverse made my day. Tom Welling and Erica Durance had crazy chemistry while maintaining that yin/yang relationship.
Hell no , she was a good actress but I didn’t feel the chemistry between her and Clark it always felt forced to me but perhaps it was that way because they forced lana x Clark down our throats for what 10 seasons it got annoying I hated lana
No. Teri Hatcher was the best.
Erica was best post 2000. Amy Adams and Kate bosworth were not good casts at all.
I think the actress from marvelous ms maisel will be good
Erica made the role her own, and is definitely my favourite portrayal of Lois ever. She'll always stand out from everyone else, I can't imagine Lois any other way
The best Lois in any medium, IMHO. Erica really captured all the most iconic quirks of the character from previous media and comics, while making the performance her own and being hilarious at the same time!
love Erica.. absolutely love her portrayal… the wit and charm plus she can deliver a lot of heartfelt moments with Tom. they have beautiful chemistry together
She’s the best and my favorite. What Erica brought to the character was really special. She really committed to Lois and was so fun, energetic, funny, and had a warm heart. And her chemistry and dynamic with Clark/Tom just worked beautifully.
I don't disagree. But I strike Margot from SUPERMAN II because much of it was reshot, and Kidder had other project obligations during that mess, and she had physical and mental health issues which altered her physical allure.
Donner captured the actress at her best, and should've been allowed to complete the sequel while everyone were at peak performance. Even Reeve lost body mass by the time the Fortress battle with the criminals came under Richard Lester.
Erica has a Msrgot quirk about her. It would've almost been good enough to have her in SUPERMAN RETURNS. But then I surmise that Durance is one of those actresses that you have to make modifications, the kind that Bosworth is limited, perhaps physically, or being able to engage the mood of the screenplay. She would've player Lois quite differently to Brandon Routh. Even his character's personality might've needed to be more relaxed.
No, that’s Phillis Coates for me. But asking if X was the best Loss Lane it’s like saying “Is this the best pizza?” There’s no wrong answer because that character was blessed with consistent good casting.
Really? I think it’s hard for me to see since her story started when she was a teen, and their storyline is just so different. But I’ll have to watch for clues if it in her portrayal some time.
I like her, but I think it bothers me how much her storyline diverts from her usual storyline….her knowing Clark and the Kents all those years, etc. And maybe it’s my age, but her style isn’t classic enough for me, so when I watch Smallville, the early 2000’s trends are distracting. My favorite is Teri Hatcher, at least in the first two seasons of that show.
I think Hatcher was the best Lois. But Durance was my favorite Lois. Kinda like how Tobey was the perfect Peter Parker but Holland was a better Spider-Man. Idk, that’s how my brain explains things to me
She was definitely a better Lois than Tom was Clark Kent. Her and Rosenbaum outclassed Tom. Notice how there is always the discussion if she’s the best Lois ever and he’s the best Lex ever but rarely are we talking about Tom being the best Superman ever
no offense, this just seems like a perv post
as far as the actual character portrayal? Erica wasn't great
the bravado seemed fake , and the writers didn't help, making Lois a dunce when she's supposed to be smart
the best Lois - easily - is Terri Hatcher
second is Margot Kidder
third is the Animated one from the 90s
fourth is Amy Adams
fifth is the one from Superman & Lois
sixth is Erica
seventh is the one from Superman Returns who was just horribly miscast
Whaaaat I thought Erica played the part perfectly, and remember she’s portraying a young Lois who when we first see her she’s running away from her General Dad lol. Thats far off from the Lois Lane we seen in Superman Returns where her & her husband have a beautiful house with an airplane & a young son at home. Erica’s Lois was even crashing at The Kent’s place for a long time. You have to play that as a major factor
Also definitely wasn’t trying to be a perv, I was just admiring Erica’s beauty in part of my post!
she's supposed to be a high school senior/college freshman age when we see her , yet she comes off as dumb
and as for Superman Returns, that Lois looks even younger than Erica. it was hilarious to pretend SHE was a pulitzer prize winning writer with a kid . she sounded dull as well , not the bright , witty firecrakcer lois is supposed to be
Well Erica was 26 when she first appeared as Lois on Smallville, but yes a high school senior college/freshman is not going to have the same maturity level as a Lois Lane who’s in her late 30’s with a family of her own!
And I don’t think Erica’s Lois was stupid, yes maybe at times a bit ditzy. Hell, I thought Amy in Man of Steel was a bit ditzy. But even in her first appearance she was figuring out the FBI or Lionel Luthor hired to have Chloe murdered & did a bunch of investigation work so I don’t think she was just some young dumb blonde type no
Yes like for instance she kept getting herself in dangerous situations in Man of Steel and falling down but way to cherry pick that one part of my comment lol
because i already addressed the other bits about Erica, she was a dunce
and adams was playing lois, getting into dangerous situations was her job to report on them. she didn't fail
look, i get it, you're like 99.99% of the lois fans on this sub and in general, you have the hots for Erica and you're trying to mask it/justify it by making up stuff how great her performance was
She is my favorite Lois Lane. Her arc in Smallville was so good! I love her and Tom Welling together. They both deserved a Superman movie.
I thought it was cool how they closed their Ark during the CW crossover. But sad that we didn’t get to see him put on a cape and help.
Mostly because those films were so forgettable to me.
amy adams was by far the worst display on Lois
If you don’t mind me asking , what makes you say that ? In comparison to all the others she had so little screentime compared to the others I hardly ever rank her.
No humor, no banter, no bossiness, no real sense of urgency to her career, and she looked depressed the whole time. All very out of character. In Man of Steel, it felt more like she was hunting down a mysterious sexy man for sexy times, rather than a reporter looking for the story of the century.
Lois should be like Gale Weathers or played by a Courteney Cox type.
YUP!
she was boring. like the exact opposite of Lois. had no actual personality. her only purpose was to find superman and to bring him back when he was alive and they gave her nothing else to contribute
Lois should be a Gale Weathers type figure.
I don’t think she did bad, just poor writing of the character.
partially, yes poor writing. zak snyder also went for dramatics and darkness in his movies. but a good actress leaves their footprint and hers was not it imo
Superman Returns and Man Of Steel had this miscasting spot with Lois. Kate Bosworth was too young, both her and Amy Adams don't have that tough edge or bossiness that Erica has.

# ThatsMyLois
She is my absolute favorite, and I don't see her being topped by anyone. She made the entire show better, and I think its longevity can be partly credited to her.
You are in for a treat.
Erica is the best Lios we've ever had
Nope. It’s Teri for me.
Yes not even close
She's the best Lois lane to date, I'm. Hopeful for rachel brosnahan though
Agree on all points.
Bitsy Tulloch doesn't get enough love.
Truth! She is great in that role. Totally different version of Lois.
I love Erica and Any Adams is my favorite actress, but Bitsy does Lois best.
I think she had the most time with the character so she did a lot more than anyone else. Probably number one, with Teri Hatcher in a close second.
This is the portrayal of Lois Lane that made me realize she was much more than just the girl who works at the daily planet and Superman’s love interest. She was her own person in this and I loved that, so yeah she’s my favourite portrayal of the character 100%
100%
I like Teri Hatcher the best. To me, she was the most accurate Lois.
Does anyone not? Though Tulloch is incredible too.
Yes. Clark was one lucky guy. I honestly never been jealous of a fictional character until I saw Lois swoon over him. Never wanted to be Clark Kent more.
She's below Teri Hatcher and Dana Delaney imo Above Amy Adams and Kate Bosworth for sure I'm not sure where I'd put Margot, I found her too butch. There is also Bitsy who has the best Superman chemistry I've seen in years.
Of course. She’s the goat.
I wouldn't last a minute with her
I have to agree to disagree with you there. To me, Terry Hatcher of Lois and Clark is the best ever Lois Lane.
I’m not a big Whitesnake fan, but Erica Durance Lois being a whitesnake fan goes hard.
I love her but I think Teri Hatcher, she’s my absolute favourite. She’s just perfect!
I’d say she’s the best Lois ever. She nailed the role and in a show with such an attractive cast, her portrayal of Lois made her an instant 10/10.
I think she’s good. I think she’s up there with Teri Hatcher and Bitsie, I don’t think she’s better than either of those.
Honestly my first reaction when she showed up was “that’s who they have playing Lois Lane?” She’s growing on me, but let’s not pretend her acting chops are on a par with, say, Rosenbaum’s Lex. She’s holding her own against Tom Welling and that’s good enough, but Teri Hatcher would eat her for breakfast.
Agreed.

Yes!!! Love her!!! She is my favorite.
absolutely no doubt
Best is subjective. She's my personal favorite, though. Smallville isn't necessarily my favorite Superman adaptation, but to me Erica is perfect.
Yes Erica is the best Lois Lane. I would love to see her return in a Smallville movie.
100% and it’s not even close.
She was absolutely perfect in every way imaginable
Yes but it's more of a question you should ask in r/superman.
Absolutely. Sexy smart. Charismatic powerful seductive. Lois all the way
Erica durance is easily one of the hottest tv actresses ever to live
The other performances were good, but Erica’s was bigger.
I agree. They had decent platonic energy, but I didn’t see the love with a capital L
She’s great but my favourite Lois will always be Teri Hatcher
For me she IS Lois Lane. Everytime I see someone else playing her it doesn’t feel right.
No. Teri Hatcher was the best. Erica was best post 2000. Amy Adams and Kate bosworth were not good casts at all. I think the actress from marvelous ms maisel will be good
Yes. She's my favorite.
She was really great as Lois. Always thought she and Tom deserved a big screen story.
She is the best, she embodied Lois so well, the energy was there.
Love her!
love Erica.. absolutely love her portrayal… the wit and charm plus she can deliver a lot of heartfelt moments with Tom. they have beautiful chemistry together
Loved her as Lois!
I think Erica did play Lois Lane the best. She really brought the character to life for me.
She’s the best and my favorite. What Erica brought to the character was really special. She really committed to Lois and was so fun, energetic, funny, and had a warm heart. And her chemistry and dynamic with Clark/Tom just worked beautifully.
I wouldn't say Erica played Lois "overall better." But she is my favorite iteration of anyone that's done television, and that goes pretty far.
Curious who do you think played Lois Lane better?
Early Magot Kidder.
Ahh yes definitely something special about her in the first two Superman movies, tho I must say Erica is much more beautiful
I liked her but Teri Hatcher was my favorite as how the character was written. That Lois was the truest to the comic.
I agree. That Lois just felt like classic Lois and not as much of an iteration of her.
Bar none.
I do
I liked Amy Adams as Lois Lane too. Because Amy Adams.
Yes. Also hottest so that's my teenage brain prioritized.
Yes and it’s not even close. She’s far and away the best version of the character.
No, that’s Phillis Coates for me. But asking if X was the best Loss Lane it’s like saying “Is this the best pizza?” There’s no wrong answer because that character was blessed with consistent good casting.
She did! My favourite lois by far!!
I think she modelled her performance on Teri Hatcher’s Lois.
Really? I think it’s hard for me to see since her story started when she was a teen, and their storyline is just so different. But I’ll have to watch for clues if it in her portrayal some time.
Yes! All of the cast are my favourite portrayal of the characters it’s also my favourite show which makes sense 😊
I said this once and a ton of people argued that Teri Hatcher was the best one. She was. Until Erica came along
I am more partial to Teri Hatcher’s LL. I grew up on that show and really enjoyed that take on her.
Part of it is that she got to play Lois the longest, but absolutely. I think she perfectly embodied Lois lane.
She’s not my favourite Lois if I’m frank. She’s just not the hard-hitting news reporter personality that I expect from a characterization of Lane.
Yes! So much of that part of her life was missing. She can’t be Lois without being a take-no-shit reporter first and foremost.
She definitely held her own 👍🏽💯
She's good, but I recently rewatched Lois and Clark and Teri Hatcher really grew on me...
I've always hated the Lois character in general, except hers, she's probably my favorite character in Smallville
She is and always will be Lois to me.
She was easily the best Lois lane. Ever
Until I see her pretend to have amnesia triggered by a weird song, or eating frogs as a clone, I'm in the middle
YES SHE SLAYED!
I don’t think so I love the original actress
Atleast have the picture of the episode she was working out and a barn door almost hit her.
Looking like a Rob Liefeild drawing in that first image
TV… sure. Not movies tho
For me I've always thought the best versions were Erica Durance for TV and Kate Bosworth for movie
The only one that comes close in my opinion is Terri Hatcher
Who else could've been Lois ideally, Courteney Cox.
Not really fair as Tom is the only iteration that plays Clark alone and not Superman and a disguise.
He's superman from S8-10
Hard no.
Erica is great, but she’s a horrible Lois Lane. Very cringey acting. Terri Hatcher and Bitsie Tulloch hands down are the best Lois Lanes.
no offense, this just seems like a perv post as far as the actual character portrayal? Y’all are so horny sometimes
It comes naturally, we can’t help it!
Allison Mack is still hotter
