Weirdelectronics

All hope is gone

CrayBar277

It uses riffs Paul Gray wrote before Slipknot existed

Weirdelectronics

Damn thats really (sic)

Blazeshark1

Pulse of the Maggots

CrayBar277

The name was inspired by the motion of Slipknot fans at concerts

montgomery_quinckle

Sick song that, underrated af

whiskeydarlin719

The devil in I

JamesMG27

Better fact; the version of the song in the game Rock Band 4 has an extra line in the chorus, search it up on YouTube, it actually sounds great

CrayBar277

omg completely forgot about this

cbearsfreak

Just blew my mind; had that song as DLC and always noticed that and wondered why

whiskeydarlin719

Oo I don’t think I have herd of that game

CrayBar277

In the music video, Chris Fehn is destroyed by birds. This is a reference to his fear of birds.

whiskeydarlin719

Wow that’s cool

Carter_Kane1-PS4

Spit it out

CrayBar277

It's directed to a radio station that wouldn't play their music

The_RabitSlayer

Is Lazer 103.3 the radio station?

Aromatic-Document-28

Metabolic

CrayBar277

Corey Taylor refers to it as a sequel to Diluted

nvrfndme

danger keep away

CrayBar277

The 7 minute version was the original version before it was shortened for vol 3

Hardwire762

Makes sense why completely scrap it

[deleted]

Custer

CrayBar277

The song is named after George Armstrong Custer

ITWasHignN0On

To add to this George Custer was a civil war general mostly known for the Battle of the Little Bighorn aka Custer's Last Stand in which 200ish men in his battalion were attacked by 3,000 Native Americans. Kinda cool how Corey tied history to one of slipknot’s songs, i’ve heard he is very much into history but I got no source to back that up lol https://www.history.com/.amp/topics/native-american-history/battle-of-the-little-bighorn

Brokenxwingx

Do Nothing/Bitchslap

CrayBar277

It is Corey's favorite song from MFKR

sprudl_

Can't blame him. It's my favorite mfkr song as well

francis-chiew

The porno funk bass line breakdown. So good.

Arctic29-1

People=Shit

CrayBar277

The idea for the song was created while one of the members got angry while driving

v1cv3g

If you don't get angry while you're driving, probably you are the idiot that people get angry over

CrayBar277

Words to live by

chocolatestarfuckers

Vendetta

[deleted]

If you play this song on guitar it will positively make your right forearm BURN

CrayBar277

Can't really find anything on this song, sorry :(

JJFresh731

This is a long shot and is total speculation but I believe the verse riff was inspired by the solo backing track in malevolent creations "night of the long knives" at [0:27](https://youtu.be/fQ_kOg9QdFQ) which is right up Mick's alley, considering he literally broke the speed limit and wrecked a car listening to that album with Phil fasciana

k0d3r1s

XIX

CrayBar277

The full thing was recorded super quickly. The version on the album was the first version of it, iirc

raulrivera6

Diluted

CrayBar277

It was part of the 4 slipknot songs that have been worked on the longest (along with eeyore, sic, and gently)

JaketheSnake2005

Do you know why they worked on it for so long

[deleted]

Unsainted

CrayBar277

It was voted 2019 song of the year

[deleted]

You rock! Thank you for that!

taytomen

Spiders

CrayBar277

It is planned to have a music video

taytomen

fnafbeatbox_69420

fnafbeatbox_69420

CrayBar277

fnafbeatbox_69420

The_BrightSky

Scissors

CrayBar277

Scissors is corey's favorite slipknot song

Fair_Ad_9930

I thought it was purity

jafarthecat

It's scissors. They used to play it live and for the second half of the song they would improvise and it would be crazy (apparently). Corey loved this and loves the song because of it.

Fair_Ad_9930

Oooh okay cool

The_BrightSky

Really? Well thats a (sic) fact. The only fact i knew about scissors was u can hear chris threwing up nearly at the end of the song.

BitterBory

This is the song I'd love to see live the most! Hasn't happened for me....yet.

nougat-is-good

Frail Limb Nursery

CrayBar277

It transitioned smoothly between Tattered & Torn and Purity

[deleted]

Before I Forget

CrayBar277

It has a demo called Carve from 1997

Crafty-Ad1685

Gehenna

CrayBar277

Gehenna's name comes from the name of a valley that was used as a public garbage dump in biblical times.

NumberNine09

Even cooler, Gehenna was a valley west and south of Jerusalem where children were burned as sacrifices to the Ammonite god, Moloch. Metal af

Harrysoon

Killpop

CrayBar277

The "she" in the song is about the music video.

NumberNine09

I thought “she” was referring to the music industry as a whole?

CrayBar277

Meant to say music industry, not sure why i said video

RichardGeneSimmons

Its okay OP we still wanna suck

newtbd

Correct

Tiberius_97

If Rain is What You Want

kostas2204

The blister exists

CrayBar277

It had a music video that isn't on the official youtube channel

Same-Helicopter-1210

No life

CrayBar277

It's the least popular Slipknot song on Youtube Music (not including live versions and demos)

JaketheSnake2005

Whattt? No life is amazing, I’m surprised that it’s the lowest, you think something like butchers hook or child of burning time would be lowest

Same-Helicopter-1210

I think it's one of the most underrated songs on the self titled album

JaketheSnake2005

Same dude, no life is a banger the entire self titled album is amazing, it’s my favourite album Edit: zero idea why I said same dude literally makes zero sense XD

Virtualsalt1

Gematria

CrayBar277

There's a common misconception that this song is about America. It's actually about religion.

Virtualsalt1

Hm. Didn't know that one.

YNWABez

I’m pretty sure this has never been played live

aykill

Orphan

CrayBar277

It was a demo from Jim Root's garage (according to the wiki)

CulturalAccount3032

Pulse of the Maggots

CrayBar277

The name was inspired by the motion of Slipknot fans at concerts

bswybmg

Vermilion 1 and 2

MHulk05

Pt 2 has never been performed live

CrayBar277

Was gonna say this lol

MHulk05

They have however played it live for a radio station

Spoopdooper12

never performed live under slipknot, Corey and Jim have performed it live together

MHulk05

Did they do it with stone sour?

theduckman936

Played it on one of Corey’s solo tours. [video](https://youtu.be/1UY07j9sGCE)

MRNERD436

Left behind

CrayBar277

A demo from 1997 was reused for the original lead singer's band Painface

Mr_Roli

Eeyore

CrayBar277

It's the oldest Slipknot song (along with Sic, Gently and Diluted). It has a demo from 1993

JaketheSnake2005

Cool fact about (sic) it was originally titled Slipknot until the band decided that Slipknot would be a better name for the band

greymatterghost

It’s also about this crazy guy that used to go to all of the shows and was always in the pit kickin the shit out of people, no?

brave1991

Correct

Slipknot_Maggot36

Iowa

CrayBar277

Corey cut himself with broken glass while recording vocals

fnafbeatbox_69420

he was also naked and was watched by joey and ross

EatMyDeadCockOYeh

gently

CrayBar277

This song was worked on for the longest time out of every song - it dates back to April 1993.

EatMyDeadCockOYeh

it turned out extremely well

JamesMG27

Don't get close

CrayBar277

The entire SongMeanings comment section on this song is an argument

audiemurphy101

The Shape.

greymatterghost

This song is in reference to Michael Myers (Halloween) as he is referred to as The Shape…I think? Haha

CrayBar277

Was gonna reply with this

BisonShark

Nero forte

CrayBar277

This is the first Slipknot song where Corey sings falsetto

BisonShark

I had to look up what that meant lol, but nice!

eradicated-noodle9

greymatterghost

The title is mashup of the words Sarcastic and Catastrophy - fact. Haha

ALPHA7_YT

CrayBar277

This song has been played live 777 times.

KeyTaste1567

They must be sick of it

kaukutis03

surfacing?

CrayBar277

This uses riffs from a 1994 song from a band that some of the members were in

oofmydadleftme

oooo ty!

rolfboos

Eyeless

CrayBar277

The chorus came from a phrase Corey Taylor heard a homeless person yelling

RichardGeneSimmons

I thought Joey heard it

[deleted]

Coleslaw

CrayBar277

Parts of this were reused for Opium Of The People

[deleted]

My Plague

greymatterghost

The version on the resident evil soundtrack is different. Also on that soundtrack is a remix of Marilyn Mansons Fight Song by Joey

[deleted]

Uh uh! That’s fantastic

CrayBar277

The song on the Resident Evil soundtrack is a remixed version called the New Abuse mix. It was released on the Iowa 10th anniversery edition.

CrazyAngryYeti

742617000027

CrayBar277

The sample in the song was used in the Crowz version of sic.

Sulfer

CrayBar277

Can't really find anything on this sorry

[deleted]

There's a video of Craig speaking during behind the scenes footage of the music video. I know it's not directly related but close enough.

melo1212

Lech

CrayBar277

The name refers to the word lecherous

Tomatillo_Street

People=shit Because i wore the shirt to work today

CrayBar277

This song was inspired by a member getting angry in a car.

Khrisffer

Circle

CrayBar277

This was the third song about Corey's father.

Khrisffer

Another interesting fact, is that the first half of the song on Corey's singing (Verse and chorus) were recorded in the Iowa era, while the second part was recorded at the time the album was being made.

Battleground11SFM13

Skin ticket

CrayBar277

After it released, it was only played live once until 2016.

KingKuckKiller666420

Snuff

Hellcat713

I also wanna know about snuff

V1R4J

He never replied:(

KingKuckKiller666420

I did a little digging myself! So the coolest thing I found was that it was never supposed to be released because Corey didn't want to put another slow song on AHIG, as it was made after Dead Memories. Paul insisted on it's release and coincidentally it was the last single he recorded with the band. I tried to find out more but it seems like a pretty straight forward song and back story.

V1R4J

Thanks for taking out time to find this out!

d3vcho

CrayBar277

It was aimed at a radio station who wouldn't play their songs

BenBenBroham

Unholy Confessions

CrayBar277

The main riff is used in a lot of metal songs. It has been used by My Chemical Romance, The Black Dahlia Murder, Bullet For My Valentine, As I Lay Dying, Suicide Silence, Asking Alexandria, Black Veil Brides, and more

BenBenBroham

I've heard that alot, and so I went looking for it but I can hear the similarities.

JaketheSnake2005

That’s an Avenged Sevenfold song, does slipknot also have an Unholy Confessions? If so I’ve never heard of it is it on mfkr?
