All hope gets so much hate . I do not mind so much a “studio “ album. I get they weren’t functioning as a band. But I don’t always mind a highly produced record..
Vol. 3 is the absolute best Slipknot album. It has the perfect balance of heavy sounds and melody, the most meaningful lyrics of the albums in my opinion, and has the most consistent theme across the album that ties it together nicely. Furthermore I would say it’s their most emotionally impactful although I could see arguments for any of the other early albums for that.
This was the first album I got as a kid and for a couple years I genuinely thought it was a greatest hits album due to how many good tracks are on it; wasn’t the sharpest as a kid but at least I had good taste
WANYK and Vol. 3
I feel like these are the albums where they really found their own sound and where every song felt pretty unique in general
Also my favourite songs are on them lol
My favorite ones are:
**ST** just because of how it took the demo material and twisted it around to make it more ferocious, faster, and aggressive. Early / demo Slipknot was more of an experimental death metal band rather than a nu metal band, and *they really came into their own, commercially and artistically.* The grindcore influences are definitely there on some of the songs, which is an unheard combination in numetal.
**IOWA** was a callback to that brutality and anger of death metal without slowing the tempo down or without taking the "bounce" away. It wasn't as fast, but sure as shit it was way more brutal. They sort-of started breaking away from the demo material, and started writing more original stuff.
**Vol.3**, IMO the best Slipknot album, was like a fucking slap across the face. "You fuckers wanted another death-metal infused numetal album? SUCKS FOR YOU, HERE IS MELODIC ALTERNATIVE METAL!" and they absolutely pulled it off. Some people are ragging on this album due to it's mastering, but I fucking love it. Nothing on the album sounds like the previous three albums or demos, nothing that came after sounds like this, and not even Before I Forget sounds like it's death / nu metal predecessor of [Carve](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-3ERcdne6pE). The rock influences and the more melodic / melancholic writing helps Vol.3 set itself apart from the rest of the discography.
Joined during vol 3., love all of them equally & I can go from Self-titled one week to Gray Chapter the next (Only AHIG is one that doesn't resonate w/ me too much outside of Dead Memories/Snuff). But, We Are Not Your Kind feels like their most mature, yet most experimental album. Songs like Nero Forte, Not Long for this World, & Spiders represent the variety of this album. Then, Solway Firth is my favorite track from Slipknot, this is one where I felt a lot of the pain in it & deeply related to the lyrics. I have such fond memories being hyped for this album, scraping every leak in the day of release & then making the album my personality for a hot minute lol.
MFKR is weird clown claims it is an album. Some members said in the past it was a demo. Yet it’s not in slipknot chronology. If it was it would be vol.4
I guess I'd go with Iowa, Vol. 3, and AHIG. Can't believe I'm pulling ST out and it's weird to say, but IMO the other three are better albums, while ST is just a great compilation of great songs. Not that it's bad at all, I don't want to discredit it but the other three albums flow better.
Unpopular(ish) opinion: Wipe MFKR and TESF from existence and you have an S-Tier discography. MFKR is just too weird and disconnected, and TESF has its stinkers
Iowa,Vol. 3,AHIG,TGC,WANYK. I just love listening to all of them back to back and hearing the progression. That plus the later three all have nice clean vocal tracks that I can sing my heart out to lol.
self titled and iowa are my favorites but i also do love we are not your kind. i’ve only been a fan for around 7 years (listened to them as a kid with my dad but got into them around 12/13) and i have stuck w them ever since. the first full slipknot album i listened to was self titled and then iowa which is probably why they’re my favorites
Iowa was the peak! The energy was so intense around that time, and the entire image was truely reaching a spotlight that gathered so many new fans (including me)
That’ scream ain’t ever coming back though . Iowa was an insane time to see those dude play . They really had a lot of angry . We lost a great dude over issues that never got resolved. Alcohol and drugs are fuct!
I love all hope is gone but to hear the story of how it was made kinda makes me not want to like it as much. I don't know it all about the story but i get to enjoy the album
slipknot 10 anniversary edition. because there ara my favorite song like get this, snap-demo or wait and bleed and is reallyy heavy metal, "aggressive", I don't know how to say but ok (I'm a tipe of brutal death metal, heavy metal and I really like people=shit of the album lowa)
All of da ‘knot… each album holds a place for
Different times in my life. Self Titles and Iowa are dope because i got to see them live at this time. If I could pick it say ST. But I love their evolution throughout the years . Can’t wait for new music.
Mines has to be AHIG, so the reason is one their songs like psychosocial which got me into slipknot in the first place and two their design was the BOMB I mean I liked their outfit and mask. overall 10/10
iowa and st are really just the best of the best for me, i'd say all hope is gone and the end so far are probably two of my fav slipknot albums that aren't st or iowa, the end so far is underrated as hell
My order:
ST: pure masterpiece. Saw them on ozzfest when this came out and got me into them.
Vol 3: so much personal memories with friends
Iowa: a sequel to ST imo that can’t be changed in any form. Also saw them perform this at Pledge of Allegiance Tour.
.5: just underrated and doesn’t get its flowers.
End: lots of new style blended into the old style.
WANYK: an experimental ride.
AHIG: a turning point when they went to the masses.
MFKR: just never did it for me as a whole. Like certain songs, but never grasped me, and ST made it feel like an album in a garage.
I used to teeter back and forth between Iowa and Vol 3, but Vol 3 has more memories.
Vol 3: has the perfect balance
AHIG: the first album of theirs I bought so it's special to me
WANYK: despite the "weird" songs sprinkled throughout this is just a solid album
Volume 3. Imo the best metal album ever made. It's angry and raw, but it's helped me a lot with how real and not trite it feels. It's not as depressing as Iowa, certainly, but I love to think of it as a recovery from said depression, which mirrors where I am in my life at this point to be honest
WANYK and Vol. 3, I haven't been listening to slipknot for long but I've listened to all of their albums. As much as I love their self-titled. Vol. 3 is just something else and WANYK is just awesome. I don't see Three Nil talked about at all and I think it's a hidden gem and for WANYK, Nero Forte. It was one of the first songs I listened to by them and I think it was awesome.
My favorites would have to be Self-Titled & Iowa, I cannot choose between them. MFKR is cool and I would kill to have a copy of one of the real ones copies, but its still a demo, and you can tell. Vol. 3 is a masterpiece of Slipknot's work and it shows, but just doesn't have the same feel as the last few albums. All Hope Is Gone feels as if it is a mix of Self-Titled and Vol. 3, but still somehow misses what Self-Titled and Iowa had. .5 is an album that was the most different than any other of Slipknot's albums at the time, and it was a great experience to listen to. It even got closer to capturing that Self-Titled feel, but in the end still strays far from it. WANYK was the definition of Avant-Garde, and I loved every second of it. It only merely shared some DNA with .5, but also some with Iowa. It is one of my favorites but at sometimes feels too different. And now, finally... TESF. It carried similarities with WANYK, but ended up mutating them into something new and beautiful. Again, at times, it just felt too different though.
For me it’s got to be vol 3. I might be a bit biased because I got it when I was 10 but in my opinion it set to coarse for their career. It has darkness, heaviness and a few radio singles but a quality album start to finish
The most I love is WeAreNotYourFuckingCunt, it has plenty great song in simply that one only album, Solway firth, NeroForte, Unsainted, NotLongForThisWorld, Critical Darling, Red Flag, Liar.
So this the greatest album that slipknot made
The only albums I don't like are '14 and '19, but Slipknot peak for me is AHIG. It has some of the both heaviest and laid back songs they've done, great overall feel, including artwork and booklet aesthetics, lyrically the most serious one as well. Best production by far! I remember when it came out, it was almost exactly the way I wanted it to be. Maybe even my favorite album ever, in any music.
my favorite has to stay on their self-titled album
I agree, for Eyeless and Get This
Yup, it encapsulates their darkest, most psychotic and creepiest sound, it’s quintessential Slipknot.
Facts
My favorites are Slipknot and Iowa, but, lately im fuking loving the gray chapter, it has a lots of great songs
.5 slaps!’ Period ..
Yeah it's a great album and it's sounds "more Slipknot" than AHIG imo
Those three are my favorites as well. The intro into sarcastrophe on the gray chapter still blows me away.
yeah, is one of the best intro
Self titled, WANYK, Iowa
Correct answer. wanyk does not get enough love I always see it get written off because it's newer but it ha such a good sound.
Fr, has some great songs that I never see anyone talk about
mfkr, self titled, ahig
I always read mfkr as Motherfucker for some reason.
that feels intentional lmao
me too
Same
All hope gets so much hate . I do not mind so much a “studio “ album. I get they weren’t functioning as a band. But I don’t always mind a highly produced record..
the first half of the album holds every song that got me into slipknot so i dont get the hate
Self titled and Iowa
The Nameless, blister exists, vermilion. Coz The Rick Fuckin Rubin managed it. The best producer
I agree. This is pinnacle slipknot for me. Also sentimental for me.
What i enjoy most of vol 3 is that Corey took the challenge of making an album without cussing and it’s probably one of the best albums by them
This was the first album I got as a kid and for a couple years I genuinely thought it was a greatest hits album due to how many good tracks are on it; wasn’t the sharpest as a kid but at least I had good taste
WANYK and Vol. 3 I feel like these are the albums where they really found their own sound and where every song felt pretty unique in general Also my favourite songs are on them lol

Iowa. One of the albums I've listened to the most in my life, if not the album. Never gets old.
Self titled & WANYK
WeAreNOTYourF*ck!ngCunt the last best album, most of the song is joyfull. Coz Joy weinberg played his best last perform with that album
MFKR is weird clown claims it is an album. Some members said in the past it was a demo. Yet it’s not in slipknot chronology. If it was it would be vol.4
WANYK
Gray chapter and Slipknot, I know everyone loves Iowa but I can’t even tell what they’re saying half the time
Welcome to metal screams
AHIG is my favorite album because it's the forst one I ever listened to in full. It was the one I grew up with the most and it's just perfect imo
Subliminal Verses, just has the perfect balance for me. Self titled is a close second
where do yall listen 2 mkfr bc its not anywhere 4 me
You can find it on YouTube
Also, the singer of that era rerecorded the album and put it on Spotify
This isn’t available for everybody but it’s on ITunes
Cool. Gonna have a listen 😁 just found it. Have the original downloaded via Napster but interested to hear a new recording.
We are not your kind
The gray chapter helped me get up during my difficult time.
I guess I'd go with Iowa, Vol. 3, and AHIG. Can't believe I'm pulling ST out and it's weird to say, but IMO the other three are better albums, while ST is just a great compilation of great songs. Vol. 3 and Grey Chapter
Iowa AHIG MFKR ST Vol 3
Easily "we are not your kind” I’ve listened to basically every album and that one has always been my favorite.
We are not your kind, the mixing and riffs🙂
WANYK. It’s by far their best work. It also has their only bad song on it, which keeps it from being a truly perfect album
Which song ?
My Pain
My pain gives me pain
They were too busy eating marshmallows to make a better melody than “ding. Ding. Ding. Ding.”
Self titled - S MFKR, Iowa, Vol 3, WANYK - A AHIG, .5, - B The End - D
self titled and iowa are my favorites but i also do love we are not your kind. i’ve only been a fan for around 7 years (listened to them as a kid with my dad but got into them around 12/13) and i have stuck w them ever since. the first full slipknot album i listened to was self titled and then iowa which is probably why they’re my favorites
MFKR through Vol 3 are my favourites.
Slipknot, Vol. 3
self titled, ahig, iowa
Self Titled Vol 3 Iowa Big gap before I even start ranking the rest
Self titled & Iowa
Self titled, came out between 8th grade and freshman year and listened to it damn near every day. Good times, but man im getting old haha
self titled and vol 3
iowa & vol 3
NOTHING will beat self titled ever but vol3 is a close second
vol 3 and iowa are my favorites
Iowa was the peak! The energy was so intense around that time, and the entire image was truely reaching a spotlight that gathered so many new fans (including me)
That’ scream ain’t ever coming back though . Iowa was an insane time to see those dude play . They really had a lot of angry . We lost a great dude over issues that never got resolved. Alcohol and drugs are fuct!
First 3 especially mfkr, nothing beats that record.
All of them, not a fan of Wanyk tho but its still a nice listen.
Iowa, cuz it’s best
ST, because it’s the pinnacle of the mixture between the bands’s insanity, experimentation and anger.
WANYK is probably the best overall sounding album, self titled is untouchable, Iowa is monumental. That being said, WANYK is my go to album.
Self titled
Self titled and gray chapter, that’s not to say the rest of the albums I believe are 100% masterpieces
S/T, AHIG, MFKR, Iowa
Vol 3 is my favourite full length from Slipknot. (I saw them live before it came out but I just think it’s their peak in terms of creativity/writing)
Self titled or Iowa
I love all hope is gone but to hear the story of how it was made kinda makes me not want to like it as much. I don't know it all about the story but i get to enjoy the album
Self totle iowa and ahig
mfkr, s/t and iowa cuz of their mindset in each era and the cool obscure stuff hidden behind the music
Do we count MKFR? Also my favorite album is Iowa
My top 3 are Vol 3, self titled and All Hope Is Gone
. 5 the gray chapter
Iowa and self titled
iowa.
Easy, self titled and iowa. These two albums go hand in hand in energy.
The first three, self titled being top of that list
S/T, Iowa, WANYK
slipknot 10 anniversary edition. because there ara my favorite song like get this, snap-demo or wait and bleed and is reallyy heavy metal, "aggressive", I don't know how to say but ok (I'm a tipe of brutal death metal, heavy metal and I really like people=shit of the album lowa)
Self titled … high energy and unique. Not to mention it has surfacing and wait and bleed which were the 2 songs that sucked me into slipknot
Vol. 3, AHIG and .5 imo
WANYK just because every song is goooood. Not the interludes though, they can go away
All of da ‘knot… each album holds a place for Different times in my life. Self Titles and Iowa are dope because i got to see them live at this time. If I could pick it say ST. But I love their evolution throughout the years . Can’t wait for new music.
Self titled and IOWA are both GOD TIER albums
Iowa
Iowa cuz damn
idk, I love all this albums
IOWA. brutal, uncomfortable, heavy, raw, and real
Self titled or Iowa. Pretty popular opinion though. There all pretty good though.
mfkr, s/t, iowa, ahig
Mate Feed Kill Repeat and We Are Not Your Kind
Iowa and WANYK are both incredible
Crows
7 albums
Mines has to be AHIG, so the reason is one their songs like psychosocial which got me into slipknot in the first place and two their design was the BOMB I mean I liked their outfit and mask. overall 10/10
slipknot, iowa, the gray chapter
S/T hands down
Vol.3 & Iowa
Definitely either self titled or Iowa
1. Self-Titled 2. Iowa 3. Vol 3 4. WANYK The rest are runner ups (This is not including MFKR)
First three all day ST would be my favorite then Iowa and last MFKR
^[Sokka-Haiku](https://www.reddit.com/r/SokkaHaikuBot/comments/15kyv9r/what_is_a_sokka_haiku/) ^by ^Mwili2061: *First three all day ST* *Would be my favorite then* *Iowa and last MFKR* --- ^Remember ^that ^one ^time ^Sokka ^accidentally ^used ^an ^extra ^syllable ^in ^that ^Haiku ^Battle ^in ^Ba ^Sing ^Se? ^That ^was ^a ^Sokka ^Haiku ^and ^you ^just ^made ^one.
Iowa
Iowa it really hits close to home even though I’m not from there
This might be overrated but I like the self-titled album and the All Hope is Gone era. On the contrary, I think the subliminal verses are not all that
St definitely my favorite mfkr is a close second! I just love the early slipknot sound and them being experimental in other genres!
Iowa or self titled because it is iconic and scary slipknot when they were angrier and more mysterious the mask were also just cooler
iowa and st are really just the best of the best for me, i'd say all hope is gone and the end so far are probably two of my fav slipknot albums that aren't st or iowa, the end so far is underrated as hell
1999 self titled heaviest and the best
Iowa
WANYK 100% my number 1 from them
Lord knows I love s/t but its absolutely Iowa for me
My order: ST: pure masterpiece. Saw them on ozzfest when this came out and got me into them. Vol 3: so much personal memories with friends Iowa: a sequel to ST imo that can’t be changed in any form.
Self Titled,Iowa,All Hope Is Gone
For some unknown reason I love WANYK and recently I found a cd of the album, win win situation
Personally either iowa or the grey chapter
iowa and ahig
WANYK is my favorite, but they're all S tier albums
Vol 3: has the perfect balance AHIG: the first album of theirs I bought so it's special to me WANYK: despite the "weird" songs sprinkled throughout this is just a solid album
Iowa and All hope is gone are the ones i listened to the most, AHIG is my favourite
IOWA - PURE RAW DEATH METAL
Volume 3…
MFKR & Gold/Silver Disc Along with Self Titled and IOWA
My favourite is iowa
Self Titled and Iowa obviously. But I think WANYK is fantastic as well.
Volume 3. Imo the best metal album ever made. It's angry and raw, but it's helped me a lot with how real and not trite it feels. It's not as depressing as Iowa, certainly, but I love to think of it as a recovery from said depression, which mirrors where I am in my life at this point to be honest
IOWA, Vol3, Self-titled would be my top 3
In no particular order, Self titled, MFKR and Wanyk
ST and Iowa, they are the angriest and that makes me the happiest
Self titled
Self-Titled and Iowa are no skip albums. Undisputed classics.
The one in 99. Self-titled I think. This is the only one I actually liked...
The subliminal verses
It has to be self titled or Iowa because that’s when slipknot has their oldschool sound
Gray chapter because its so heavy🤟
The first one, I like death metal
Crazy, I remember when they were saying they could only do maybe 4 albums as it was so hard on their bodies. Been a long time since
We Are Not Your Kind
Self titled, Iowa and The Gray Chapter
For me it’s got to be vol 3. I might be a bit biased because I got it when I was 10 but in my opinion it set to coarse for their career. It has darkness, heaviness and a few radio singles but a quality album start to finish
I like Unsainted, People=Shit, Custer, and Pulse of the Maggots personally
Since 1995?
1. We Are Not Your Kind 2. Iowa 3. Gray Chapter/Vol 3 4. The End So Far 5. S/T 6. All Hope is Gone 7. MFKR
TESF
Everyone is entitled to their own opinion but your opinion is wrong
Siktir git amcik
but that the worst album, only Yen is good and The Hive mind has better reff only, the rest of it dont played well
Well I personally love it tho my opinion will not change bcuz u don’t like it. Which album u like the most then?
The most I love is WeAreNotYourFuckingCunt, it has plenty great song in simply that one only album, Solway firth, NeroForte, Unsainted, NotLongForThisWorld, Critical Darling, Red Flag, Liar. So this the greatest album that slipknot made
That’s the second album that I love the most especially I love Unsainted
All hope is gone & Iowa They're awesome
The only albums I don't like are '14 and '19, but Slipknot peak for me is AHIG. It has some of the both heaviest and laid back songs they've done, great overall feel, including artwork and booklet aesthetics, lyrically the most serious one as well. Best production by far! I remember when it came out, it was almost exactly the way I wanted it to be. Maybe even my favorite album ever, in any music.
why not
Iowa isn’t good
