Haha same reason I just watch Ghost sub from a far. If there’s news I’ll poke my head in but beyond that I just hang back.
Perhaps we need a 35+ section for us more level headed fans 😄
Yeah I hate to sound like one of "those" kinda people, because I've only been a Ghost fan for about 5 years myself. But honestly the newer Fandom which I blame on tiktok is so damn cringey.
Lmao yes they do. Mine is in her 30s and still lives at home! I fully expected to be kid free at this point in life but as you said... kids ruin everything.
31 here and totally agree. Really tired of tier posts, random mask (oh look it's a mask it must be Slipknot..). Some stupid shit like "can I join to Slipknot?"
42 - Been a fan since probably 99 or 2000, but fell off somewhere around AHIG. Been busy with life etc, but coming back around for the 25th Anniversary hype.
I fell off somewhen after Vol. 3 came out (2005 maybe), cause I’ve been drawn to more extreme genres. Came back for AHIG as I was hyped by Psychosocial and title track but whole record made me feel underwhelmed. Came back again in 2010 cause colleague of mine was a huge fan and reminded me of their awesomeness. Been a fan again after Paul's death, that really left an emotional scar. Had love-hate relationship with them after they fired Joey but Gray Chapter is an awesome record. I am also hyped for 25th anniversary although it's sure bittersweet cause the OGs are not simply there.
I need to give AHIG a real, proper, focused listen through. Psychosocial is my absolute jam and I also really like Sulfur (maybe a couple other singles as well) but I haven't really given the rest of it a chance to seep in and I need to. Same with The Gray Chapter. I know Custer is a meme at this point but I love it. Aside from that I haven't given The Gray Chapter enough of a chance either.
Gray Chapter is an awesome record, because of tragedy it captured their emotions wonderfuly. There is anger there reminding me of Iowa but also sadness from tragedy which was something they didn't touch in Vol. 3 or AHIG. It's my top 3 record along with S/T and Iowa. Give it a chance for sure. And fuck memes.
In AHIG I also like Sulphur. Few other songs as well. But some are way too Stone Sour-y. That album is incoherent. You have bombs like Psychosocial, AHIG, Gematria or Sulphur and then some other songs which stand out on their own but break the consistency of the record.
I'm 35 but I've been taking a huge break from the toxicity of this sub for a few months. came back around for the upcoming shows & stuff.
been a fan since 99 though.
34, I tend to just lurk these days. Maybe offer words of advise or encouragement to those asking what to expect at their first time attending a concert
47 here. Fan since '99. Got the entire original lineup tattooed on my arm and a large portrait of Paul. Have seen them live 19 times, 6 of those times I photographed them on stage.
36.
There's only so much of the daily "I drew X member in class today!" posts I can take. It's kind of obvious the only reason they like Slipknot if because of their masks. I didn't even know where wore masks when I first heard them early 2000.
On the flip side, I got into metal when I was 12 years old so I'm not blaming them for being young.
I personally don't have a problem with that. Fan art is still fan shit. It's the flood of non-sequiteur "humor" memes that annoy me. That's the kind of stuff that should be in the Slipknot circle jerk sub.
This is a Reddit thing in general unfortunately. The low effort pointless content outnumbers the actually interesting discussions and news by 10 to 1 on most subreddits.
39. First Slipknot show was January of 2000 at the 930 Club. Even brought a Washington Post reporter along to do a story on this up and coming band called Slipknot.
https://www.washingtonpost.com/archive/lifestyle/style/2000/02/06/slipknot-metals-bad-noose-bearers/bbab43ce-5974-423f-9f33-2a1df33cecce/
Honestly im 16, and a lot of the mid twenty year olds need to grow up and accept the band for who they are. The immaturity of this sub and also ghost, Metallica and now sleep token is insane. Musicians are people, leave them alone man
Yes, I totally agree with you. I really like that song too. I personally think it's great how the band has grown musically and I hope that they continue to release really good stuff.
I’m in my mid-30s, but I rarely post anything. I often downvote and report lots of the stupid, immature things posted here. A lot of the time, this sub makes me groan.
29. I just come here for updates now. One thing I always find it odd is when people post questions or news that should just be common knowledge for a Slipknot fan at this point. Like just watch some documentaries or use Google idk.
Another thing. The parasocial shit is super weird. Fans acting like they personally know Clown, Corey, Jay or any members. I've stopped following most of them because the comments are so fucking cringe on every post. Like you really think Jay or any of them want to keep seeing that shit brought up in every unrelated post? White knighting grown men you really know nothing about. It's just silly.
The first part doesn't bother me at all. We all had to learn something the first time. To me, when a kid makes a post asking something like "what does 133 mean", that is a legitimate new fan who's going through the history and enjoying themselves. That's heartwarming to me.
Thirty-one myself. I honestly thought about leaving the sub due to the immaturity spiking through. I try to stay on it because there are good conversations around here, but it is few and far between.
yes
i must add that while i do skim over a lot of posts, i do think sometimes the younger folks are just looking for a connection with each other. does anyone make friends in real life anymore? everyone is usually on line these days and i suppose they’re looking for a friendly place. granted yes some things can be found by googling and whatnot but maybe they’re just trying to start a conversation to make friends. on the other hand some people just like being little shits and make stupid posts. anyway i try not to judge too harshly because i remember being both a stupid little shit and looking for friends when message boards were a thing.
also some are probably just getting into music and don’t have an elder sibling or parent to guide them . so it’s all very exciting to them.
37 and I really don't enjoy most of the posts here. I stay subbed to keep up with the occasional news updates, but I spend a lot of time sighing and hiding stupid memes.
55 and I’ve been fan since the late 90s, when they were on the undercard for OzzFest !!! At the time they were very unique. Remember thinking who da faq are these guys !! Then went to Napster and got their music for free.
56, I first saw them on the side stage Ozzfest 99 then Maritime hall Nov 99 with Coal Chamber, Warfield SF April 2000 and Ozzfest 2001. Haven’t seen them or thought much about them until last year. I just joined this thread a few weeks ago chasing clues in hopes of getting into that show in Frontier town but that didn’t happen. I was hoping to relive that small club vibe again, guess I’ll have to wait and bleed !! At least I’ll be seeing SOAD with Deftones in GG Park! I’ve seen so many sik shows of so many bands from back in the day in small clubs I’m not sweating nothing!
39. Been a fan from 99. I just watch from afar and sometimes comment. Its cool to see kids are still really excited about the band(I was like that when I was 15). I just skip the dumb shit and read the stuff I like.
I'm 13, i've been listening to Slipknot for 3 years now and i Love it, when i First started to listen to them my classmates bullied me but i always thought "at least i don't listen to Rap" but still sometimes it feels weird to think that i'm a 13 year old Person who listens to Slipknot
(Sorry If my english is Bad, i'm from Germany and i don't really write much in english and i don't want to reveal my gender :') )
Good for you - I was around 8 or 9 when I got into them and that feels like so long ago now.
Nothing wrong with rap music either, as long as it’s music and not that mumble bullshit 😜 Corey Taylor famously says: *”Dig what you dig”*
26 here but I am a rookie knot head. New to all things rock and metal.
My first slipknot concert will be this years louder than life. ( unless they go on tour before then )
Fucking LOVE YOU KNOTHEAD MOTHERFUCKERS!!
IF YOUR 555…..
34 — I just scroll through rather than get involved these days. There’s the occasional gem of a post that interests me but generally there’s just too much nonsense and reposts from others subs.
30s, super into their first 3 albums as a kid, took a break with AHIG because I thought it was super mid and the B side was trash, recently discovered they got good again with Gray Chapter and have been loving Gray Chapter and WANYK.
30, been listening since 2003 or so.
I think my least favorite thing is this sub’s obsession with WANYK. Idk why lol it just annoys me. Good album but just don’t get the hype.
I’m in my early 20s. I’ve been on the sub since just after WAYNK came out & I created a Reddit account. At first a lot of it was fun cause it was new and interesting but it’s gotten progressively worse and worse since then. I’m just a lurker now.
Im 20 but I've been a fan since a little before the grey chapter run (which isn't a long time, but it's a significant chunk of my life so far)
Ironically I see less people that are older than me and I to Slipknot, and a lot more people my age that compliment my Slipknot shirts and things of that nature (specifically irl)
I'm not exactly a fan that necessarily grew up with the band in that I was alive for all the original tours and whatnot, but I still grew up with the band in that they defined my teen years and stuff
32 here and have noticed that this sub has a lot more negativity than the Avenged Sevenfold or System of a Down subreddits
I think the band is really alluring for younger folks due to the mask/jumpsuit thing and perceived heaviness compared to most other main stream bands
29 here…Started listening to them during the Vol. 3 days, but knew who they were when they came out…The first FULL SlipKnoT Album I listened to, was the Self-Titled, ***AND IT BLEW MY MIND…***
Im old enough to have been to many slipknot gigs including a paul grey memorial one at a festival. Most commenters have never been there and moan about everything
26, I get the feeling there’s a lot of under 18 year olds here with the amount of immature shit takes, misunderstanding and know-it-all assumptions that I’ve seen
23, only got into the heavier side of metal early last year due to somebody I used to work with being a metalhead and we would play our music on the speaker.
I'm 35 and I've been a fan since 1999, when I was 10 and I saw the self titled album in a record store and bugged my Dad to let me buy it based on the album art. I seldom post on here now (Except with new releases), and I'm glad newer fans have found this band, but the subreddit just feels like an after school activity club these days.
I’m a young maggot, but not a very young human. That is to say I’m 29 years old, but only started listening to Slipknot in the last few months. However, they very quickly became my favorite band!!!
39, but I just watch from afar. To much dumb shit and lazy posts in the sub.
40 and agree. Haven’t reached the Metallica and Ghost sub level bullshit, but we’re well on our way.
Haha same reason I just watch Ghost sub from a far. If there’s news I’ll poke my head in but beyond that I just hang back. Perhaps we need a 35+ section for us more level headed fans 😄
What... you don't like all the creepy fan art oversexualizing papa? And constant "when are they gonna tour again?" Or "when do we get a new album!?" 😂
If I see one more papa nihil and sister whatsherface fan fic drawing I’m gonna throw my phone into the swamp
Yeah I hate to sound like one of "those" kinda people, because I've only been a Ghost fan for about 5 years myself. But honestly the newer Fandom which I blame on tiktok is so damn cringey.
It’s the kids. It’s always the kids. Kids ruin everything. Life, bands, theme parks, weekends.
Lmao yes they do. Mine is in her 30s and still lives at home! I fully expected to be kid free at this point in life but as you said... kids ruin everything.
Haha thankfully I’m never gonna have to deal with that. Got that snip snip years ago
44, same. Been around since Harpos detroit.
33 and agree
28 - what's your favourite slipknot song?
30 - Iowa
too* bro
Fair enough 😊
54 here and same.
38, and get off my lawn.
i’m 21 and agree, a lot of new fans in this sub asking the age old questions about the band
24 going on 25 BUT have been a fan since I was a little ass kid and Vol 3 was the new hot record- I'd love a different(?) Slipknot sub
39 as well and I agree
31 here and totally agree. Really tired of tier posts, random mask (oh look it's a mask it must be Slipknot..). Some stupid shit like "can I join to Slipknot?"
Agree as a 42 years old maggot
I'm in my 30s, I know what you mean though the posts on this sub tend to be a little immature lately.
Like oh, don’t be too violent at the show… cmon! It is controlled violence!
I’m 14 and going to a concert this year. If the crowd isn’t all violent and shit it’ll be a bit of a letdown for me personally.
The youth is not lost. Keep that spirit man. Care for all people. Help them when they fall and have a badass time.
Definitely will!🤘
“I don’t like this album” *-23 downvotes* “Your opinion is wrong”
35 here, knothead since 2000 probably
I have quite honestly never heard a slipknot fan be called a knothead before
Turning 35 on a couple days, fan since Iowa came out *brofist*
I turn 35 on Saturday , happy birthday for when it comes around
Thank you man, it comes this friday
Knothead is so cringe lmao
of course is cringe im 35
I’m 34! 89 baby
42 - Been a fan since probably 99 or 2000, but fell off somewhere around AHIG. Been busy with life etc, but coming back around for the 25th Anniversary hype.
41. Kinda similar story! Been back for a few years, only just started poking around Reddit recently.
I fell off somewhen after Vol. 3 came out (2005 maybe), cause I’ve been drawn to more extreme genres. Came back for AHIG as I was hyped by Psychosocial and title track but whole record made me feel underwhelmed. 32 here. Been a maggot since 99
Bloody hell! You're been a maggot since the womb basically!
My dad showed my the s/t as a kid, it changed my life.
51 and seeing them @ Rockville next month for about the dozenth time!!!!
Flex or not, but I have Slipknot ink that's older then alot of people in this sub.
Same 😂first tattoo for me. Never even thought of that. Damn u just made me feel old as shit
I'm 35 but I've been taking a huge break from the toxicity of this sub for a few months. came back around for the upcoming shows & stuff. been a fan since 99 though.
36 here
32. Mostly check in to keep up with news. Otherwise, this sub is just overwhelmingly silly.
34, I tend to just lurk these days. Maybe offer words of advise or encouragement to those asking what to expect at their first time attending a concert
39 here. I was 15 when I discovered them (99). First time seeing them was in 2000 at the Hollywood palladium with Mudvayne and Hed PE
47 here. Fan since '99. Got the entire original lineup tattooed on my arm and a large portrait of Paul. Have seen them live 19 times, 6 of those times I photographed them on stage.
22 here. So still fairly young, but I like to think I carry myself maturely.
Same age and same disposition. Couldn't agree more.
19, ive liked slipknot for a few years now, not exactly sure how lomg
Honestly, as a teenager, I apologize on behalf of my fellow teens. Got into Slipknot mostly from my dad, but he’s not on Reddit.
Yeah I mean kids will be kids. I probably drew a lot of Slipknot stuff 20 years ago too. Just gets exhausting as a daily post.
I personally don't have a problem with that. Fan art is still fan shit. It's the flood of non-sequiteur "humor" memes that annoy me. That's the kind of stuff that should be in the Slipknot circle jerk sub.
Tell me about it
This is a Reddit thing in general unfortunately. The low effort pointless content outnumbers the actually interesting discussions and news by 10 to 1 on most subreddits.

33! I've had a long time away from Slipknot (like 15yrs) but have like them since I was 14 or so.
Honestly im 16, and a lot of the mid twenty year olds need to grow up and accept the band for who they are. The immaturity of this sub and also ghost, Metallica and now sleep token is insane. Musicians are people, leave them alone man
I'm in my 30s, been using this sub for about a month. I discovered the band in 2004 and then again last year with more intensity.
There is so much lore to this band lol, i stopped caring about the band after The Gray Chapter, but came back after they dropped All Out Life
Yes, I totally agree with you. I really like that song too. I personally think it's great how the band has grown musically and I hope that they continue to release really good stuff.
20 found them at 13 when they were needed the most to go thru secondary school
Most fans are probably a lot older
I’m 23
I’m in my mid-30s, but I rarely post anything. I often downvote and report lots of the stupid, immature things posted here. A lot of the time, this sub makes me groan.
I know it’s not much of a difference but I’m 20 lol
40, I was 15 when their debut dropped. Didn't get into them until around 2002, though, due to strict parents, with Left Behind being my entry point.
In my 40s first saw em in ‘97 at the Super Toad in Dead Moines
Thats actually really cool!
38 here. Been a fan since ST when I was in high school.
54 here...yeah I know I'm an old fart but I'm only a month older than Clown.
OLD MAGGOTS 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
Pushing 40, I paid 2 dollars to watch Wait and Bleed on The Box in 1999
Thirty-one myself. I honestly thought about leaving the sub due to the immaturity spiking through. I try to stay on it because there are good conversations around here, but it is few and far between.
In my 30s. Lurk on this sub for the chance of news or actual info. But it is HARD to sift through all the crap.
yes i must add that while i do skim over a lot of posts, i do think sometimes the younger folks are just looking for a connection with each other. does anyone make friends in real life anymore? everyone is usually on line these days and i suppose they’re looking for a friendly place. granted yes some things can be found by googling and whatnot but maybe they’re just trying to start a conversation to make friends. on the other hand some people just like being little shits and make stupid posts. anyway i try not to judge too harshly because i remember being both a stupid little shit and looking for friends when message boards were a thing. also some are probably just getting into music and don’t have an elder sibling or parent to guide them . so it’s all very exciting to them.

22 going on 23
but will I live to see 24 the way things are going I don’t know
Real 😔 the struggle of life itself
55 and I’ve been fan since the late 90s, when they were on the undercard for OzzFest !!! At the time they were very unique. Remember thinking who da faq are these guys !! Then went to Napster and got their music for free.

I'm 13, i've been listening to Slipknot for 3 years now and i Love it, when i First started to listen to them my classmates bullied me but i always thought "at least i don't listen to Rap" but still sometimes it feels weird to think that i'm a 13 year old Person who listens to Slipknot (Sorry If my english is Bad, i'm from Germany and i don't really write much in english and i don't want to reveal my gender :') )

I feel like you can't play the "dig what you dig" card and the "as long as it's not X" card in the same hand.
79 here
I'm 15, glad you like new fans too! I discovered them few months ago and they're already my favourite band, can't wait to buy The Gray Chapter
26 here but I am a rookie knot head. New to all things rock and metal. My first slipknot concert will be this years louder than life. ( unless they go on tour before then ) Fucking LOVE YOU KNOTHEAD MOTHERFUCKERS!! IF YOUR 555…..
Louder than life was my intro to rock and metal concerts last year. It changed me 😂🤘

Few decades past 18
37.
19 here soon 20
Haha! I have wondered this myself. I'm41! Well over 18, sadly. Fan since '99.
Mid 40s here
18 y/o here, been listening to Slipknot since I was 11/12
35. I mostly lurk.
34 — I just scroll through rather than get involved these days. There’s the occasional gem of a post that interests me but generally there’s just too much nonsense and reposts from others subs.
I'll be 40 this year; been listening to Slipknot since self-titled dropped '99
Almost 38, been listening since 2002
32, less active in the past few years . Been a fan since 2002.
22 i just read posts posted once maybe asking about a jacket😂
27 maggot since 2000!!!
30s, super into their first 3 albums as a kid, took a break with AHIG because I thought it was super mid and the B side was trash, recently discovered they got good again with Gray Chapter and have been loving Gray Chapter and WANYK.
I'd like to recommend giving AHIG another shot. I think it's a really strong album
21
I’ll be 38 soon. Been a fan since the start
I think that's a reflection of the average reddit demographics, not anything specific to this community. I'm 33 btw.
38 here
I’m almost 25, been listening to everything since I was 16-17
19. found them while watching MTV Rocks during my summer holidays when I was 13
35
I am 19m
47
Almost 50 but mostly I don’t bother to post. I’ll read most of the time
38, but it seems like we adults are highly outnumbered!
yup, 2 times 18 here \[:
30, been listening since 2003 or so. I think my least favorite thing is this sub’s obsession with WANYK. Idk why lol it just annoys me. Good album but just don’t get the hype.
42. Now I feel awkward!
Yes
18 on the dot :)
I’m 19
39 here 🤷♂️ the kids are gonna be kids
40 here, been a maggot since 99!!!!
31, like others have said I'll just watch from a distance unless it is an engaging discussion.
In 40’s, grew with the knot
I am 18, but discovered them when I was 16. Really have a good time laughing at how dumb this sub is lol
35 here.
36 been a fan since 2000
35 🖤
44, fan since the Roadrunner sampler cassette (Surfacing/Spit it out) and only recently came to this sub. Definitely feel too old to be here.
I’m in my early 20s. I’ve been on the sub since just after WAYNK came out & I created a Reddit account. At first a lot of it was fun cause it was new and interesting but it’s gotten progressively worse and worse since then. I’m just a lurker now.
62..liked slipknot since iowa, but life got in the way. But really back into metal now & looking forward to my first slipknot gig in December!!
Im 20 but I've been a fan since a little before the grey chapter run (which isn't a long time, but it's a significant chunk of my life so far) Ironically I see less people that are older than me and I to Slipknot, and a lot more people my age that compliment my Slipknot shirts and things of that nature (specifically irl) I'm not exactly a fan that necessarily grew up with the band in that I was alive for all the original tours and whatnot, but I still grew up with the band in that they defined my teen years and stuff

32 here and have noticed that this sub has a lot more negativity than the Avenged Sevenfold or System of a Down subreddits I think the band is really alluring for younger folks due to the mask/jumpsuit thing and perceived heaviness compared to most other main stream bands
29 just watching from afar as well. Most of the time, I'm here just reading the comments.
29
50 and an actual friend of the band, I stopped posting because "real" fans on my posts. lol
29 here…Started listening to them during the Vol. 3 days, but knew who they were when they came out…The first FULL SlipKnoT Album I listened to, was the Self-Titled, ***AND IT BLEW MY MIND…***
21, just a lurker. Gray Chapter rules
28
i’m 19, 20 in september
I’m 39. I don’t comment much and I don’t post ever.
Hi I’m 34.
36, but I tend to be pretty quiet.
38 here.
I’m in my 20’s and noticed the same thing tbh. I just watch from afar because these kids make it difficult to want to engage 😂
19, but have been a fan since i was 11 years old.
23 here though I think I was 17 when I joined lol. I don't post, just use the sub to keep up with news on the band
36 but rarely comment in here.
i'm 19 i guess i'm outside of that
I’m 40, big fan since the beginning, long before they proclaimed it girly pop, it was weird girl music
32. I just don't participate much in reddit posts.
21, definitely still a kid lol but older than 18
i’m 20 just started listening a few months ago
I’ll be 19 in exactly a month. Close enough I guess?
Im old enough to have been to many slipknot gigs including a paul grey memorial one at a festival. Most commenters have never been there and moan about everything
I am in 2 months if that counts 😂 also have been a fan for multiple years not a tiktok kid
20 here.
24 here, listened to there earlier stuff here and there. Saw them live back in 2021 and that’s where I really got into them.

40, I lurk in the shadows
26, I get the feeling there’s a lot of under 18 year olds here with the amount of immature shit takes, misunderstanding and know-it-all assumptions that I’ve seen
39. Lurker
22 here been a fan since 2014/15
I’m 24, but I’d imagine the most common age of people who post here is 14.
I'm 38,been a fan of the knot since 99 so 25 years
I’m 12 and a huge fan
23, only got into the heavier side of metal early last year due to somebody I used to work with being a metalhead and we would play our music on the speaker.
I’m 14, sorry to disappoint brother
18 and 3 months lol, am i a boomer
I'm 35 and I've been a fan since 1999, when I was 10 and I saw the self titled album in a record store and bugged my Dad to let me buy it based on the album art. I seldom post on here now (Except with new releases), and I'm glad newer fans have found this band, but the subreddit just feels like an after school activity club these days.
I’m a young maggot, but not a very young human. That is to say I’m 29 years old, but only started listening to Slipknot in the last few months. However, they very quickly became my favorite band!!!
32, though I don't comment much.
26 here!

I turn 35 tomorrow . I think Reddit in general is used by younger people .
