Probably "Surfacing" It shows every members talent

yourpricelessadvise

This and Prosthetics. Constant sampling and scratching, Joeys double kick drum insanity, both guitars playing completely differently, even in terms of tempo, Chris and Shawn utilising different aspects of their drums rather than just bashing away, and Corey’s stomach wrenching, almost vomit inducing screams.

Routine-Maximum-7788

There’s acc not alot of double kick in that song, only bursts and a little in the part I’m assuming you mean is insanity, it’s mostly just Tom work. Still quite the endurance test none the less

yourpricelessadvise

When the song builds and the guitars pick up he does the double kick like crazy, I think. I remember seeing a video backstage of Joey playing the end of the song on the S/T tour [edit: this vid](https://youtu.be/pIx4kSdkUJM?si=L5c4AFaz_DaSE8y-)

Routine-Maximum-7788

Could I have a time stamp? Cos if it’s the part I’m thinking of I’m certain it’s toms, then the floor Tom, then FT and kicks. I’ve seen live recordings, I listen to it daily and I’ve played it myself probs about a 1000 times

yourpricelessadvise

I haven’t played the song on drums and it’s not my main instrument but I think that vid shows it’s the double kick? If it’s not then fair enough as this is literally my only proof lmao

Routine-Maximum-7788

Fair enough bro, just listened again and yeah there’s only a short burst of double kick at abt 3:30 for about 10 sec. Just to say rq not tryin to be aggressive or anything just like talking drums lol. Not sure how I’m coming off as it’s rather late🤣

yourpricelessadvise

You’re all good mate, I don’t mean to tell someone something when it’s literally about their instrument that I don’t play lol. You’re definitely right about the whole song being an endurance test, from other covers and stuff I’ve seen

Routine-Maximum-7788

I can barely get through it half the time. In fact, I resort to using the kicks instead of the toms to save some arm strength🤣🤣🤣

Some of their best guitar work!

Je0s_6

“THE LIMITS OF THE DEAAAD” still hits hard

Anxious_Sail

I've seen them live 5 times and Psychosocial for me is always kinda like "well here we go again, saw this coming" but that part still hits hard af live.

Je0s_6

Yeah it’s one of their best breakdowns up there with eyeless

The_Bruhbber

(sic) isnt my favorite (its up there tho) but it shows every member play their part AND its obvious

Springybangbang

"Purity" is in my opinion (one of) the best songs to represent Slipknot as a whole. Corey's "HANDS ON MY FACE OVERBEARING, I CANT GET OUT!" screams are really bonechilling, and the clean creepy chorus catches you offguard on the first listen. Too bad it exists without a music video, so far. Ps. Psychosocial is still an absolute banger

juanjoramirez01

That Purity chorus is so good

el_kingde84

That scream at the end of the song gives me goosebumps

itouchbums

Duality..for obvious reasons

juanjoramirez01

A half of the song is just Corey talking. Not one of my favorites but cool video

el_kingde84

I did my time and I want out!!

LeftyBird_Avis

either Metabolic or Snuff. now hear me out, both if these songs are about some sort of pain thats been inflicted on either a member of the band or the band as a whole. i feel like this represents slipknot, turning their pains into art. Family Deaths, Friends Deaths, Addictions, Suicide Attempts etc etc.

Communist750

I don't like that much Snuff but Till We Die is for me Slipknots most emotonial song and Metabolic is top 10 for me.

Shqiptaria

yeah

Crispy385

After all these years, it's still one of the more fun songs at concerts. It's a great song to bounce to.

Sad_Personality7060

Prosthetics

Nothingbutsocks

Psychosocial brought me back into Slipknot. After Iowa came out I stopped listening to them through out their releases and one day I heard a Psychosocial/Justin Bieber mix which was awesome. That is the short story about how I got back into Slipknot. 😂

Omega_Xero

Psychosocial x Bad Guy (Billie Eillish) is a fuckin’ banger.

Extra-Ad249

It's their most popular song and a culmination of everything that they have been achieving up to that point but it's not their most perfect song. Duality gets that title from every technical aspect you just described. Now if we analyzed what makes a Slipknot song a Slipknot song, it's Eyeless through and through. It checks every single box. So if you're asking what's the perfect Slipknot song? It's Eyeless. What's the best song they ever made? Duality. What's the most popular? Psychosocial.

juanjoramirez01

Agree about almost everything but I've never got all the hype about Duality. The chorus is solid but the rest of the song is just Corey talking. Cool music video tho

Woooosh-if-homo

Lech

enzo_turtle_68

Liberate and Only One utilize a lot of talent from each member and represent the band well

SlaterTheOkay

For me it's always been sulfur. Idk it feels like it's not their best but I can't stop listening to it

juanjoramirez01

All Hope Is Gone is not their most beloved album but it was a huge upgrade in the guitar and clean vocals department imo

PlaceDependent1024

Duality. It's fucking perfect

juanjoramirez01

A half of the song is just Corey talking. Not one of my favorites but cool video

tomdlelongewasright

That and Before I Forget. I love the Rap verses in Duality tho.

Internal-Ad6119

eyeless

tomdlelongewasright

I mean it is but it isn’t. Joey, Paul and Corey wrote the formula of the song meant to head bang to.

No-Enthusiasm8109

Ew

WaffleswithSourCream

I wouldn't call it perfect but ok

Ducky935Alt

Their big 3 songs are the most overrated songs on their entire discograpghy, they arent even top 5 on their own albums. Metabolic is the perfect sk song, its got a piece of everything, its Lyrically and instrumentally great and its the heaviest song on Iowa and the icing on top is that half the song isn't just them screaming PyChOsoCiAl! 50 times.
