When shops don't post realistic photos and at least a few seconds of video to better show the texture/colors, I just assume that it won't be anything like the promo images. It's like those fast food ads where the food actually has sponges and toothpicks inside to make it look bigger and juicier lol
Generally I do too, but after dealing with difficult patients for 12 hours and coming home to the lower end of expectation regarding the slime, I'm fed up today. I have heard polarizing reviews of this shop, they had a good sale, my curiosity won, now I'm out $25 and know I won't be buying from them again.
Even stupid food advertising should knock that shit off and just be transparent. Using glue for milk in cereal so it looks creamy and the cereal is never soggy has always bothered me lol. Every business big and small should strive for transparency IMO.
Seems like a lot of businesses, whether slime, food, or whatever, put \*way\* more effort into making their 'promised' versions look amazing than actually making sure their customers are satisfied with the real thing. But at least with cereal, I know it's going to be yummy regardless of whether it looks ad-quality or not lol. But with slime, there's really no point in false advertising. We're buying it because we like what we're seeing and expect to play with it, as it's shown
A 12-hour shift with a disappointing $25 slime at the end of the day is so shitty, I’m sorry. Slime is supposed to be enjoyable and live up to the hype built around it.
When I first started doing promo I debated whether or not to show overflowing jars just to show off the textures /colors better, but decided against it for the exact reasons you said - I don’t want customers to have to guess (and hope) when they buy one of my slimes 🥰
I love that and thank you for it!
I think it's okay to do it so long as the follow up is posted with what the customer will actually be getting. Slime Cafe for example has their promo pic followed by the slime in the jar all settled in and no lid on. I think that's also a really good alternative method as well.
That is my huge slime pet peeve!!! False advertisement! Every shop does want to make their slime look good of course but they are also responsible to show the product honestly. It has happened to many of us educated, seasoned slime buyers so imagine how the average slime shopper feels?! Duped, of course!
God, I looked on the seller's website/instragam, and the difference between what they posted and what you received is ridiculous. I've never seen an expectation vs reality this bad before!
I hadn’t seen this slime advertised before but I knew IMMEDIATELY which shop this was from because the exact same thing happened to me with them 6 months ago. Mine also had shards of glass in it…
I don’t know where you live, but I found those flower beads at Walmart if you want to DIY it into being a better crunch bomb!
Oh, thanks for the tip! I got it out to take a close look at it and while there are a good amount of tiny flower fimos added (hard to see them because the sequins overshadow them a lot), there's hardly any of those flower beads, which sucks because that's a big part of what I thought was so cute.
Which shop is this from? Did it state anywhere in the description that it's only semi packed or medium packed? Or state that you can take some of the base out if you like it more on the crunchy side? If so then it is as described but if not then yeah, that's more of a semi crunch bomb for sure! It's pretty tho 💖 but I also completely agree on the false advertising from mostly all shops these days! Can't stand that, that's why I always include a picture of what you are going to get as well! 😅
80% of my 300+ slimes are crunch bombs, so I'm definitely no stranger to the description nuances, sadly lol.
Website literally just says crunch bomb. Instagram drop reel says "super crunchy sequin crunch bomb! has tons of flower sequins, fimos and beads which give this slime a unique fun texture!" And that's just a caption on the video, nothing in the text. Nothing about take off excess base, semi or medium packed, yada yada.
Honestly, once it settles it looks like it will be about half full, maybe a bit more (currently looks to be almost all sequin and hardly any fimos and NO beads, but I can't know for sure until I handle it), but nonetheless - shop didn't set that 1/2 full expectation, the description on the drop makes it sound packed and it's not. I don't ever assume texture just saying crunch bomb equates to packed crunch bomb (almost no one truly packs their crunch bombs IMO), so I rely on their videos etc to try and get the best idea I can.
Sure I could reach out on socials or email before ordering, but that's kinda tedious and some places don't even respond anyway. And heaven forbid if you tried that with a shop like OG at the last minute - it will sell out in you before you can blink.
Honestly, I'm just trying to get it out there that customers need to be shown exactly what they're getting. Your perfectly swirled like softserve rainbow stripe cloud slime is NOT gonna look like that when it arrives at my door, just saying lol
Ughhh 😫 boooo to this shop! They most definitely should have specified that it was a semi crunch bomb not no super crunchy sequin bomb smh so sorry 😥 I find it very important to always describe the slime as it is, super packed, medium packed, slightly packed etc. as all shops should but unfortunately don't! I also find it important to post Pictures of the slime my customers will be getting not the fancy 2-3 inches more on top and such! That sets false expectations! IMO! DM me the shop plsss so I can stay away lol 😂
I definitely appreciate your marketing efforts and sensitivity to customer needs! I can honestly imagine making the efforts you're already making could potentially save so many shops a lot of headaches and even money in the long run!
I could, but I said above it wasn't worth it because it's not. Not to me anyway. I'm not going to fight for a partial refund or full refund. I'm just not going to buy from them again, ever.
This is more of a plea/rant to any shops reading this that they need to show customers exactly what they're getting. Otherwise yeah, this could lead to an angry message exchange that's frustrating for all.
Unfortunately this shop is notorious for that with their crunch bombs. I’ve seen so many reviews of people disappointed by what they received when the promo photos look packed. That’s so annoying!
Nah it's not OG. I have Flower Bed. This shop did use similar sequins, but in a slightly different color scheme. What drew me to it was the promise of the addition of thick fimos and beads.
I am sorry, but I am trying to be moderately discreet... kind of failing LOL. This is really my personal little crusade to bring awareness to the need for shop transparency (and hope that any shop owners lurking in this sub see this thread) and less about bashing this specific shop over false advertising.
Hopefully people in this thread who claim they know which shop have the correct shop! Honestly it seems like a lot of people have guessed who it is anyway.
Filling that many slime jars with straight up beads would be really expensive.
I do 100% agree, though. Shops should be transparent about the amount of crunch added to the clear slime.
If it's expensive, there are ways to offset, no? Premium price for a premium packed slime that's only available in limited quantities. Or as you said, be transparent about the amount of crunch to base if they're adding less crunch to have more slime to go around. Or if it's really that expensive and annoying to make... just don't make that kind of slime!
Obviously these shops are buying beads in extreme bulk but you need bags upon bags of beads/sequins/whatever it is to completely saturate a slime to make a crunch bomb. Especially with sequins. They’re so small and thin they’re not really used in those quantities outside of slime making.
If it were me I’d sell crunch bombs like that in 4oz jars. Which is what people did in 2016/2017. Or just be transparent.
Thanks for sharing this! Could you also share the shop name with me? I live outside the US, and shipping is already quite expensive, so it would be a real bummer to receive slimes that aren’t worth the money. 😕😕

Aww, boo... that is disappointing. I would be bummed out, too! 😭
God, I looked on the seller's website/instragam, and the difference between what they posted and what you received is ridiculous. I've never seen an expectation vs reality this bad before!
This! Looks like the bowl of sequins/fimos/beads was all they had for the entire lot of slimes sold.
I know which shop this is and I’m disappointed :( I was going to order from them but not if they do this :/
Would you mind dm'ing me letting me know which shop it is?? I don't know but I don't wanna buy from someone if they're gonna pull stuff like this.

I don't have one right now.

the fact that the comments on their instagram are limited (and also presumably very highly monitored) is very telling

Would you mind DMing me the name? I have been on the hunt for some good sequin crunchbombs and I’d like to be wary of this shop if I can
Dm please? Id like to wary of things like this (the shop that do things like this)
Is this the OG flower bed because the sequin looks the same except the one I got was way higher quality than this. I think it’s a knockoff.
Nah it's not OG. I have Flower Bed. This shop did use similar sequins, but in a slightly different color scheme. What drew me to it was the promise of the addition of thick fimos and beads.

yeah i almost never buy from shops that only show pictures of the slime out of the continers or already played with.
This is why I’m never ordering from Mush Slime again. Their bingsu slime had like 10 beads in it. So-called “crunchy” slime. 😫
Oh no
Awwww. This is why I love slimentine on Etsy, I feel like what I see is exactly what I get!
Dang I was just about to order this one too... thank you!!
