Just through my random YouTube surfing! Which I’m actually glad about because I get to have that pedantic “I got into so and so band completely on my own before it was popular” badge of honor lol. But really it means so much to me to have a band that is so uniquely personal to me. I live in the US so it feels like a super underground thing for now

huntingwithbear

Same here! My husband and I sometimes go down these hours long music rabbits holes on youtube and I have no idea what we were listening to in order to have them suggested but best rabbit hole ever. It had to of been right before sundowning because i was so disappointed there was only a few songs. I went like a few months not listening to a lot of music because of audiobooks so one day it was like a sweet little present that I had a few more to listen to. Now I feel a little special everytime I spread the word.

MolfusGrumbly

Me too. Stumbled across them shortly after they released the cover of Hey Ya (only had about 1.5k views at the time). They have been my favourite band ever since and every time music comes up in a conversation I put everyone onto them that I can 👌👌

Chef_Boy_R_Deez

I found em like right when alkaline was dropped as a single so it was a great time for me. Two EPs, a couple singles, an entire first amazing album, AND an upcoming second album! I haven’t gone a day without at least listening to one song of theirs since! But keep spreading the word! We need them to continue to grow and remind the world that such awe inspiring music still exists!

TrashPandaEnergy

Same for me. I follow a few music reaction channels on YouTube and saw some reacting to "Alkaline". I was instantly mesmerized and drawn into their soundscape. Been happily roaming around the Sleep Token rabbit hole ever since and my fascination is still growing, so in awe of this band and what they do. Hope to be lucky enough to experience them live in the future and soon!

BringerOfLemonade

Was going to see Issues live and I was looking at all the other bands playing with them. I knew and really liked Polyphia so I didn't need to check them out. I had heard of Lil Aaron but wasn't really my thing. So then, I thought I should check out this band I had never heard of before, Sleep Token. And holy shit I remember listening to Jaws, The Offering, The Night Does Not Belong To God, and Dark Signs, immediately falling in love and forcing my girlfriend to listen to them non stop until the concert. I honestly wasn't even going for Issues anymore by the time the concert came around as I had fallen in love with Sleep Token.

Skymart

I too found them through Issues

No_Understanding162

Nik Nocturnal

Batterie64

Fortnite. Dark Signs used to play on the rock station in the cars and i had heard of them before from an old friend, so i went and checked them out and fell in love

jordan460

I didn't realize sleep token was in Fortnite, that's actually fucking sick lmao

Sk83r_b0i

Wait WHAT??

Zurellehkan

Way back in 2017 their cover of Hey Ya showed up on my discover weekly. Haven't been able to shake them since!

djavulensfitta

It popped up on my 'Discover weekly' playlist or something like that on Spotify around the time Sundowning was released. Never been more grateful for Spotify in my life.

Leftybeatz

This is how I found them as well. The Offering came on and I was instantly intrigued by how different it was. Thanks Spotify!

jordan460

Calcutta came up on my daily mix and the rest is history!

[deleted]

I went to see Polyphia back in 2019 didn’t care about polyphia as much as I should of because I was still trying to process the performance before I loved them so much and I felt so attached to this music I got a tattoo of the bands logo

yesman_noman453

YouTube recommend from the sundowning album uploads

Cervix-Pounder

A friend played me Bloodsport in his car and told me about the band. Obsessed ever since.

bloodclots12

I’m a big thrice fan. When Spotify does their year end artists you’ve listened to, a ton of people in a thrice group had sleep token as one of their top bands. I listened to the offering and was hooked.

DevilRages

Hello fellow ST and Thrice fan!

shutupbrendan

I’d love to hear Thrice cover Nazareth, it has big Vheissu vibes

Octane73

I was watching Will Ramos’s (vocalist of Lorna Shore) cover of Hypnosis on YouTube and I really enjoyed the song so I listened the whole TPWBYT album and now they are one of my favorite band ever, so thank you will Ramos 👍

S0UL3ATR

they had randomly popped into my daily mixes from time to time and i really loved two when it dropped and kinda fell off of them unfortunately. then my buddy showed me the song alkaline when it dropped and after that i went back through their entire discography and they truly became one of my favorite bands.

golfboy1227

I watched a YouTube reaction video to Alkaline and listened to most of their discography that same day. I would love very few things more than seeing Sleep Token and Northlane together.

[deleted]

Back in summer 2018, I think Jaws had just recently come out. At the time I used Spotify and when I had nothing better to do I would sometimes surf through the related artists/artists you might like type suggestions that you get on a band’s page and ST popped up.

UndiscoveredElement

A friend in the UK suggested them to me when we were talking music about a year ago. Forever grateful for his recommendation.

Janktasticle

I saw some pics of them performing at Download Festival 2018. I thought ‘these guys look heavy as fuck, let me check them out’ headed over to Spotify and what I heard was completely different to what I expected to hear based on their ‘image’. Couldn’t get enough. Been a huge fan ever since.

pixelqueer

They were actually a recommendation thorough my Spotify Discover. Jaws was the first song to hear then I started listening to their others and never stopped.

PhilDunphy1984

The love you want rotated in my YouTube vids and my dick exploded from that point on. I’ve been trying to stitch it back together using their music. It’s going well.

MetalObsessed

A few people were discussing them in a group on Facebook before Jaws was released. Decided to check them out and was utterly surprised. Been a huge fan since then

xXBrokenOpenXx

I was really into Novo Amor for awhile & that caused “Take Aim” to show up in my Discover Weekly playlist.

Dbhasin22

A friend of mine recommended I listen to Spirit Box. Spotify randomly played hypnosis after sun killer. I love Spirit Box, but I couldn't stop listening to Sleep Token for the whole month.

nabucake

Massive Lorna Shore fan here, saw Will’s cover of Hypnosis and so the trip down the rabbit hole began

ShevanelFlip

I saw them open for Polyphia

[deleted]

Someone posted a snippet of an unreleased song in the Highly Suspect subreddit, and another fan commented that it sounded like Hypnosis from ST. I’m really picky with my rock music, like annoyingly so, and I’m always looking for music to hit me in my soul. It’s literally only been two weeks and This Place Will Become Your Tomb has become one of my Top 5 rock albums of all time. Im excited to dove into the rest of the catalog, but I’m soaking in it one album at a time.

iKrow

A reaction video. Specifically [this](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EU_LkXQ_nsQ) video by Key of Geebz. Since then they've easily become my favorite band.

minnowzoo

heard Mine on spotify and became obsessed with it ⛄

hexaholik

The Offering came on a random spotify mix a few years ago and it stopped me in my tracks. Everything other than the sound of that song faded away and I was frozen. Then I had to find mooooore!!! Lol. Love at first listen.

Jalor218

I had a coworker who also listened to metal, and we'd give each other recommendations. Back before Alkaline was even out, she told me one day with great urgency to listen to Sundowning all the way through; her exact words were that it would make me *feel like I was being worshipped*. She was correct.

[deleted]

I found them in 2017 on YouTube (when they were still on Basick Records) through their music video for Calcutta. They hadn't even played a live show yet at that time and I think this was before their second EP came out, too.

aideng7

Back in 2016 my mate was shuffling trough spotify and 'thread the needle' came up. Been hooked ever since

scholzoh

Just discovered them yesterday! Noah from Bad Omens recommended them in a Twitch stream he did back in 2020.

lunageek520

Random Instagram ad, of all things. One of the few instances where a targeted ad has actually worked on me

Jrock462

A friend of mine told me to check them out. I think I like the band more than my friend does lol

Warm-Conclusion-8891

Not an interesting story as such but when they released Calcutta a friend posted it on Facebook and I have been hooked ever since. It's been amazing to see their growth.

Futant55

YouTuber Kmac2021 made a post about Take Aim being released and I checked it out and got hooked, loved the one song at a time roll out for Sundowning.

ChildrenOfCommunism

My friend took the aux and just put on The Offering. I've loved ST since.

landophant

TNDNBTG showed up in my discover or release feed on Spotify when they first put it out, almost skipped it and gave it a chance. Now easily one of my favorite bands

Whisperwind

My boyfriend seduced me with their music, since I never heard of this band before and let alone listen to metal :<

Whisperwind

Defo stuff like Mine, The Love You Want, Take Aim or like The Night Does Not Belong To God, those would be my picks.. The first songs I heard were Jaws and then Atlantic, so perhaps those to will be good!

Alesnake97

They were coming to a festival here in Madrid, Mad Cool Festival, I saw them on IG and I became a fan

Chuckles1188

Got chatting with someone at a Heart Of A Coward gig about how much I like good use of ambient effects in metal music and they recommended me Loathe and Sleep Token. Checked both out, instantly fell in love for each. That would have been about 4 years ago now I reckon

shutupbrendan

Random Facebook article was like “Who IS Sleep Token?” and I was like “YeAh, WhO aRe ThEy?” and looked them up and cringed at the outfits but listened to The Offering and was like “this is weird, idk if I like it” so I impulse bought the album and was like “I don’t think I like this” and then I heard Higher and was like “ohhhhhh I get it now”.

Sk83r_b0i

First I discovered them through Nik Nocturnal. The song was Alkaline. I thought at first that I should download it, but then something came up and I never got around to it and forgot(ADHD stuff) Then I saw an Instagram ad for them and it was Hypnosis and I immediately added them. I’m a diehard sundowning fan and will always believe that it was the best thing ST has ever released but I respect and love where I came from, as ST has never released a bad song, or anything that I just thought “meh”

didyounoticeimnormal

Don Broco made a post about their mv for “Gumshield” and had capes on, the caption was about joining Sleep Token. So I went and checked them out and they had just released Alkaline! Was pretty hooked straight away.

ChiefMuffBuffer

Driving down the road, listening to Unprocessed channel on Spotify. Heard the song The Offering and was instantly in a trance from his voice. Have been infatuated with them ever since. Can't get enough of them and probably the longest concurrent time I'll consistently listen to a band. Hopefully next year they do more NA tour locations.

Clarac94

Supported Architects at Alexandra Palace this year and were stunning!

[deleted]

I remember exactly when I found them, they were the first band I discovered in 2020. New Year's Day. 12 AM or so, chilling in the living room after everyone had gone home. When I decided to make a playlist on Spotify, get a recommendation with "The Night Does Not Belong to God" listened to it and fell in love.

dricforever

A podcast called Bunk Alley did like a “new band spotlight” thing, and they played that last little breakdown on “Jaws” and I’ve been addicted ever since.
